Dear, i love you

It's amazing. Really i want to say thank you. During this latest days i check this thread and every of your messages is a breath of fresh air. It's very king to translate in french your english message.

I spent the day under the trees, enjoying the quiet to reflect and rest. I also followed your advice and went to get my favorite ice cream cone even though we had said that would be a "Plan B." I know the choice I'm making: to head toward death. My choice is clear, and I have no doubts left. I don't want to live my life without my soulmate, without my other half. Over the last two days, I've tried doing the things we loved to do, as well as things we would have liked to do. I've finished writing my farewell letters and arranged for them to be sent on August 14th—my girlfriend's birthday and the day we were supposed to get engaged. Now, one of the biggest challenges of my life awaits me. When I'm driving across the bridge, I manage to slow down—significantly—near the spot where I'd jump, but I've never managed to actually stop. Because, as I said, if I stop, there's no turning back; there are no "do-overs" or room for error. That is terrifying, and I keep telling myself over and over that I don't want to live my life without her whenever fear or the SI say "what if" and tries to give me false hope. I hope I can go through with it; I'd have so many regrets if I failed, and I'd be so ashamed to have spent days writing everything out only to back out in the end. Determination is what's needed—enough to ensure that the fear (which will always be there) is weaker than the desire to escape my horrible life.

I repeat to myself, if a 20 yo and a 61 yo succeded why not me at 28. I know it does not dépend of the age but to go over the barriere and then jump/fall, it shows that it's not a question of strengh or to be fast but to be determinated.

Thank you for your message and your presence. Yes people are very kind in this thread, since the beginning i can count on people that i don't know, but i know that everyday, every message will be read and support will be here. This is what i miss in my real life to do anything, live or die.
Please don't feel ashamed for spending these days writing how you feel, regardless of how it ends, no one should judge you for what you feel or for your decisions, specially in these moments, one should only deserve empathy and support, sadly it doesnt always go like that.
I would like to say soo many things too, try to give more help than what i do, but i dont have the words or the power to do it, so more people. As you said, sometimes we need to change things in real now.
I only hope that you know that we would like the best thing for you, i hope that you can find relief from all of this. Love for you

I just read through a bunch of this thread and I really feel for you. It's a hard thing to get through, heartbreak. I haven't lost someone in the way like yourself, but I have had to say goodbye to many girlfriends after having very disfunctional relationships - due to my own MH issues and issues holding down 'normal' relationships. So in a way, I can relate.

Like yourself, I am in France now. I live in a beautiful little countryside place but it's just so heartbreaking to know that I will never be able to build a family and a 'normal' life. It's all I ever wanted, and I just can't have it.

Either way, I am so so sorry for how you're feeling. The heat isn't helping at all, either. I truly hope you can find some rest, soon. I can very much relate to an environment that does not understand the heaviness of what you're going through and the helplessness that you feel deep down. I do want to remind you, this only seems to have happened to you a short while ago. This stuff can take a LONG time to heal, and I pray you will have the patience so that you may have another chance. If I can at all relate to what you might feel at those heights, after only having felt it at 12 feet, it's incredibly hard.

If you would like to speak on a more personal level, and know that there is somebody that cares and understands, feel free to send me a DM, or we can also just relay messages in this thread. Like others here have shown, I care about you and your health and have at least some understanding of what you're going through. It is not easy. It does not feel safe. There seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel and nothing anybody says can guarantee there ever will be. It's like that for me. I'm also just too scared to end it now, but I crave rest. I crave peace.

Much love, dear Aren. I hope to see you make it until tomorrow, at least. And I really hope that you may find peace and happiness. In this life, or beyond.
Thank you for your message. It made me cry because it's so soothing to have you and all others people in this thread. Since 1 month i talk to walls in my real life familly and health professionals.
Your word made me think about peace and even if you had issues you succed to have a little countryside place. How is it ? And with your experience what do you think you'll need to maybe have what you miss ? If it's possible for you. When i read your message i see it like how futur things could be.

Yes you right, i'm wandering in my car since 2-3 days without eat and almost drink. My car is sending alarms everywhere with the heat. I put myself in a hole.

At least now i know how live a city in the darkness but i don't enjoy it at all.

Right now i'm on a beach facing the bridge, i walk and walk thinking about memories if they can become a strenght.

Maybe i could achieve our dreams for her, like @StarryEyed said there is always someone at my side.

I don't know if it's my SI talking because I'm so scared of these 120 feets into the ocean or if I'm evolving. I don't want to regret and insult myself everyday of coward.

Police and fire rescue team are always on the bridge tonight it does not end...

<3 I'm kinda sorry I made you cry. It makes me think about how much I cried in the past. These last few months, I haven't really felt any emotion aside from fear and frustration. It's strange, but the rest has just left me.

It's nice, it's quiet. I have a large garden even though the heat is really taking a toll on it and it's tough to work outside during the day. With my experience in life, I feel hopeless about getting what it is that I miss. I am 36 now, and there's just too many burnt bridges and trauma that I can fathom getting over. I'm taking it day by day, and devising my method. It's the only thing that brings me a real sense of peace. Trying to see myself living to old age, I cannot. I try, but I just don't see it happening. It's a long story, you can maybe imagine. I'm happy though, that you see some hope here. Maybe there is, but I can't see it. Perhaps one day. Until then, I'll be on DH, hehe.

At least now i know how live a city in the darkness but i don't enjoy it at all.
I come from living in a sort of city, and mainly moving between cities. I never liked it. It reminds me of how selfish human beings can be. There is hardly any balance between nature and everything revolves around money and efficiency. Nobody seems to have any patience or compassion and everything just moves so fast. That's why I ended up moving out, but now I just realise how freakin' lost I am, mentally. I relate to not enjoying the city. Though, nights and darkness in a city that does sleep a little can feel comforting, at least for me.
Right now i'm on a beach facing the bridge, i walk and walk thinking about memories if they can become a strenght.

If you think on how many people are in similar positions to us, yes - there is always somebody on your side, be it physically or spiritually. You are not alone, even though there might not be a body next to you right now.
I don't know if it's my SI talking because I'm so scared of these 120 feets into the ocean or if I'm evolving. I don't want to regret and insult myself everyday of coward.
Of course you're scared. It is only natural. I know the kind of fear you feel - I felt it at much lower heights and I felt it even more intensly when I almost made myself pass out with a rope around my neck. All of this is no joke, as a matter of speech. You are NOT a coward. You are a human being in a very hard position right now. Please don't beat yourself up over this, even more than you're already beaten up. <3

Thank you, your words and the power you sent me are very helpful. Shame and guilty are two things that bring me to pure sadness because i Always wanted to protect her and somehow failed. Everydays i thought bring her good things, and we were happy in a lot of these moments. But i did not see her pain. I regret it deep in my bones. "What if" these words... With these words we could rebuild the world but we can't see the futur and how people are for real.
I hope she found or will find peace and maybe one day we will be together again and share ours dreams again.

I have only 4 hours left to choose and try something. Redemption or Death... What a choice. Both are so hard. Hope or illusion from my Survival Instinct.

If i could jump i would. But today the icecream idea from @StarryEyed made me think : what if i become our dreams. It sounds maybe too romantic but i don't know it makes me feel something new.

Another point is lonelyness, i need to find people like you to share these dreams because i want to live with kind people with mutual support like now in this thread.

I agree with all your points ^^ And like i said in another message, yes i think i need to share my life with more people like here who suport others mutually even it's hard for all of us. 💜 I'm happy that you felt a little less alone, same for me.

Good morning Ben. Yesterday I asked some of my French friends here to recommend a song for Aren. I just told them he's French, 28 and grieving the death of his girlfriend. I didn't say he was/is suicidal. There is one that I like, which my friend Jean-Jacques just sent. I don't understand what she's saying, but it sounds beautiful and I trust the ethers that this is the one for Aren. A few years ago, Jean-Jacques' brother died by suicide. This is Dalida singing "Julien."

Ben, thank you. You know there are so many beautiful, kind people on this forum. It's such an honour to be amongst such people. I can't imagine the pain from Aren's loss. Nor the pain so many people here are suffering. What I do know is the world in general does not treat us well when we're in this place. In fact, it is typically brutal. So I believe the solution is what Mahatma Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world". I think the world would be a better place if we were treated with kindness and respect. What do you think?

Good morning. How is everyone today? Aren, are you still with us?
Yes i am. With the day of yesterday i choose to try to live for our dreams with her at my side and if i can't do it or finish it, i'll join her because there will be nothing left to be with her.

I say i will try because to do it i have to survive during 1-2 years in my toxic family every day. And the 14th august will be very very Hard because it's her birthday and the moment when i would like to marry her is she was still here...

So i keep open this thread because many people are kind here and i think it's a safe place for me and others person who talk about the subject of this thread and the evolution.
And i keep it open because i really don't know if i will handle this big challenge during 1-2 years. Someone say to me that, with some tricks maybe i'll stay 3-4 month.

Thank you for your support and i will continue to write here because a part of me is still on this bridge.

For those who want to know, yes i went to the bridge, it was harder than others times because there were police and rescue team everywhere due to a big fire. But i got 2 times to do it quickly. Then i think of this icecream and our dreams. It was almost peaceful when i did eat this icecream that we promised each other to eat someday (it's a special icecream only made in the city where i lived), so maybe i can live for our others dreams.

Thank you for the support and for checking if i was well or not. It helps me so much everyday 💜
Im so sorry aren and everyone who is feeling this way🫂🫂 just know that ur loved and not alone❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Omg Dalida, in my country some people 50-60 yo talk about her like a legend ^^

I agree. I try it around me as soon as i have an enough good context of life even a little because for me it requires a minimum of energy and "good" vibes otherwise i dig my own hole... just see smile on people face is good and make me believe a little in humanity. I would like to live in a world with smile. And people who support each others like us in this thread.
Yesterday and the last night may have changed my life, we will see it in the next days, weeks, months and the final countdown in 2 years maximum. Hope the hard face of the situation will be shorter than 2 years...

Wow, Aren. Mon cœur bat de nouveau. Merci.

Wow, Aren. My heart is beating again. Thank you. 🙏❤️😊 I am happy that you have found the strength to have hope for this world. That takes a lot of strength! I look forward to sharing our pain and to working through our pain together. You can always go back to Plan A of suicide if you need a break from Plan B ice cream. 😁 There is a program in the US called Project Semicolon, which allows us to think about suicide as an option. I think some of us need to think about suicide and sometimes even need to in order to survive. And there are some people who never think about suicide and therefore don't understand this. People who believe in this project get tattooed to commit to this project. I have a tattoo. In case you're interested, here is a link. I hope you have Google Translate add-on so you can translate.

Oh mon Dieu !

Oh my goodness!!!! I'm so very, very, very sorry! I just looked at the Semicolon Project website because I didn't review it before giving the link here. I haven't looked at it for a few years. Fuck! It's totally changed. It was once a grass-roots pro-choice organisation. Now it looks like a massive corporation that is pro-life for only shiny, happy people. Makes me want to vomit! They don't even say what the semicolon stands for. I'll tell you because this is what I believe in and what I was referring to... When writing a sentence, when the sentence is complete, you can decide to end the sentence there or carry on the sentence with a semicolon. The idea was that you can end your life, like a complete sentence. Or you can decide to add a semicolon and continue your life. So the idea was that you have a choice in whether or not to add the semicolon, meaning in whether or not to end your life. Thus it was pro-choice. A perfectly good idea is now is the waste basket! Damn it!

Thank you for sharing these informations. Yes i think ending it with always be in my head because it needs a miracle to save me now ... I said i will try and i am trying. Yesterday i was so tired of these 3 last day i could not do anything... I tried to place some reference points in my bedroom to look like our last bedroom but reality came... It can't be even close to it. We can't put a home with 10 years of stories in a bedroom. It's painful. And even if i try to remind me that my family will never really help me, everytime i need support even a little bit, again reality strikes and i see they are so bad.
This morning i think again about the bridge because of all these elements + m'y best friend do not respond to me to help me go out of m'y parent's house. He do not answer to m'y call of help after 14 years of relationship... And the other person left in my close circle my second best friend but here again she just said the word "stop" when i talked to her to express my pain and m'y need. Everyone live like there is nothing, my mom even Say to me that i must not cry... I mean what ?? What is this toxic circle.
Friday i thought in front of the bridge that i could try to fight against my own Bad thinking and try to gather all ressources to quickly start to live our dream After i gathered money...

I don't know what do you and others people from this site think...
Is it a too much harder challenge to try or not if you were in my situation ?
I am so tired because my family don't let me rest. I had more Time to rest when i was alone one day ago even if it was very hard due to the lonelyness, memories and wait to jump.
But today, ok i'm not waiting to jump today, but lonelyness, memories are here + i have no support. And the real incoming of money needed to get out will only start by september and will need some month to be a real income.
Today we are 12th july so 1 month and 4 days after she died.
I don't know how i will handle the wait of this in these conditions.
And the 14th august scares me because it was supposed to be our mariage day announcement.

Again i am lost between all of this. And all people who can help me in real life don't.

Salut Aren.

1. Identifier les sources de motivation.
2. Identifier les problèmes.
3. Trouver des solutions.

Veux-tu en savoir plus ?

Hello Aren. ♥️😊 Oh, it's so good to see you! I too believe I will always need suicidal thoughts to survive. Maybe one day I will do it. And that's okay.

You've done a really good job explaining the battles ahead of you. I would be happy to explain to you my approach for life problems. There are easily a million different approaches to problem solving that work. My approach is very pragmatic. Maybe you could find it useful too? I have a three-step approach.
1. Determine fuel sources.
2. Determine problems.
3. Determine solutions.

Hello, yes i would like to know more about your method because for now, it's the main issue, keep a method that accept suicidal thoughts and permit me to have the energy to reach a freedom with less pain.
I noted your 3 points of method, i already use the same and find reference points of security and dreams work well with me.

Thank you for sharing and yes i would like to know more of it. I can relate and i think you are right, pain leads sometimes to CTB thoughts because sometime it's all we have to escape and i think it's ok even if i do it and end it forever. Because in my opinion, people have not the same luck in life and did not ask to born here so it should be ok to choose the moment of our own end.
I add that i think everyday of this jump and bridge and the moment i almost stop the car because yes this moment happened in the last night friday to Saturday. I do not take it as a fail but as a "you know the emergency escape is here". I noted again that every new try i go further, and i think the best training against my SI is exposition with progression in the actions so one day i could just do it with less fear and SI. Because let my all body fall into Darkness ... The fear is big even if i know that a 99% succed method here. I someone say, our body is trainned since centuries to survive. I think SI can me train or be less important in some situation like when the impulsion of sadness and panic are bigger than fear and pain. But i learned one thing : i searched for the biggest impulsion and i think it's not good because i had a big big emotionnal bad news this day and it made grow up impulsion but at one moment it was too much and the impulsion turns into anxiety and paralysis. Then my body was tired and i could not act. But After it was with an other impulsion with less anxiety and it was really easier to go to the spot and try.

I'm afraid yes, to the hospital and for the second time... First time i was just walking on the place where others people walk for pleasure, but i stay too long in front of the sea late in the day and rescue team came, they search into my phone and discover the loss of my girlfriend and a letter i wrote in my schedule messages. They took me to hospital but i lied and throw letter before we arrived to the hospital, so they let me go the same day and my parents came to ask to let me free. But if i get caught this time i will be stuck for a long time and no one could come to help.
Last time i did not get so far yes.
It's so risky... But i can't stop thinking others succeded why not me.

If i can continue to drive freely i don't know, it will be between 2am and 4 am so nothing really open, that's why i think about sea where we loved to go. I miss her so much...
But you are right favorite ice cream and card are good ideas.

Thank you for your support in this potential final day.
Hey Aren, I'm so sorry for what you've been going through. I just wanted to check on how are you doing, and I give you my best wishes to find peace 🤍

Hi Aren and good afternoon. I hope you're doing okay today. You talk about topics that I think about a lot too - the "emergency escape" plan and how you can practice the plan.

Regarding the "emergency escape" plan, are you familiar with the fight-flight-freeze response? In case you aren't, I will explain it briefly. Humans are animals, and like other animals when we are threatened we are programmed to respond to that threat. Typically we respond with fight, flight or freeze. (Hopefully this translates correctly!) If we cannot respond in this way in this world and there is no solution, we may be forced to consider the ultimate fight and flight, which is suicide - the last possible choice, or as you say the "emergency escape." So from an instinctual level, I think it is very important that if we cannot see a solution in this world that we can have some way out. Hopefully it is an escape that we only have to think about to help us, but sometimes thinking about it is not enough. So in essence we feel like trapped animals. We are trapped by our circumstances, our pain, our thoughts....whatever we feel is trapping us. I hope you can find a way out of your trap, but only you can do that.

The other topic you bring up is practicing your suicide plan repeatedly so that you can lower your survival instinct (SI), meaning your instinctual fear of death. You are right that we are wired for survival, which is why we have the fight-flight-freeze response to keep us alive. But this survival wiring can be overridden because our brain is wired so that if we are repeatedly exposed to a threat but that threat turns out to not truly threaten us, then our brain learns that this is not in fact a threat. This is the premise behind desensitisation, which is what you are describing. This is why people who have tried suicide have a much higher rate of success with future suicide attempts. The idea that practice makes perfect applies to suicide as well. Did you know that males are also more likely to succeed than women by three to four times?

Remember how I was saying that in order to commit suicide we typically need courage, strength and determination, but that ironically we also need those attributes to live in this world? It's the same for hope, that it serves in both places. And it is the same for desensitisation. I mean we can learn to embrace our pain as we let it wash over us, and we can see that the pain can sometimes shift from unbearable to uncomfortable to acceptable. So you can practice desensitisation for this world too, in case you decide to stay.

My three-step approach is really just common sense and surely there are lots of people who do this even without thinking. So the first step is to determine your fuel sources. I have three parts that need fuel - intellectual, emotional and physical. Could you write a list of all the things you can do to strengthen those three aspects of who you are? It is important to be strong for your journey, for your battles. Even Batman falls....

Thank you for this precious message. Yes i agree, i try everyday to fight for life but the idea of Always fighting to simply live makes me anxious... I mean why don't we just enjoy the earth like we supposed to. Society, work and people put too much pressure for power and money. It's a very Bad system in my opinion. And the anxiety leads me to paralysis yes. When i wake up i think it's a nightmare then i realise it's real. It makes me so sad and depressive even with anxiety attack. At night it's the same, i cannot permit me to rest because i can't close the eyes and lay down in this nightmare. I sleep when i'm too tired to stay up or when my body hurt too much or with benzo...

Everyday it's the same circle, and the limit is little before pressure and pain are too strong, then i think directly of the bridge. It's really the emergency door, i know i can take my car and go to it. When i lost my car's keys i panic because i have not this emergency escape. Then i find them and I'm a little less anxious but very sad because today my emergency escape is death by ctb... Before my emergency escape was my girlfriend. I'm so sad i miss her so much it destroys my heart everyday more and more.
I have a job opportunity to Escape but it needs at least few month or 1 year... It's few but an eternity too in a toxic environment like in my parent's house and people putting pressure to handle things after my girl friends left. I say everyday i do my but i can't have the energy to do all of it and i don't want to turn the page and move on. She with always with me, it was the wife of my life and nothing Can change it.
The second escape is of course this bridge and a jump to freedom but it needs a lot of energy but i know i have it if i had to if one day no hopes and no words make me feel believe that there is something else to test. But there is also the fact that i can't test for the rest of my life. I put a limit, if the test I'm doing now does not work, it's done for me i'll jump whatever happen.

For desensitization i try to learn the pain and fear and accept it. I tried also to imagine what i'll do to jump, all the actions. But you right if i can bring my brain to accept that the danger is not as i think it will help. I tried something like this by saying to me "this danger is a is a smaller danger than live in pain and suffering living in a prison mental and physic. I did not know about the statistics.
Yes i could practice this also to handle the few month of test maybe it could open a door that i never imaginated.

For my fuel sources :
Intellectual is my work, i work in a job to help people in need and i worked with my girlfriend (irony of life..) and video games who asks to think about a story, challenges.

Emotional is hard to find, i think about Friends online who send me message but i cannot say all of what i'm thinking. My niece was very kind with me because she loves my girlfriend her favorite aunt. My niece brings me good emotions but i can't see her often.
My Friends in real life don't accept my detress and i must put so much energy to make them do something like go watch a fireworks or drink a little while talking. I would like that it was us who ask me to come with them and not me putting energy to have support.
Emotional is very unstable.

Physical i used to do sport but i do not eat and sleep so my body hurts a lot since she left. I don't know about this point, i feel stuck in it before some light enter in my life.

It's awesome because The video of batman begins you shared is one of my top 3 movies ever with the last samurai and Star Wars Sith retourne (lord of the ring close to it in my list). And this sentence of Alfred to Batman it's one of my fuel sentence since a long time. I really love it. One thing it's at the end he says "Still don't want to let me go" and everytime i thought of my girl friend... She never abandoned me. But today i she is gone and i feel that in this sentence which helps me a lot, today the last part is missing and it hurts with a pain like never before and everyday i ask myself : Can I live without her? I have no answer other than no... But i try to live for her and our dreams, i imagine her looking at me on my shoulder. I know it can be see like i imagine a ghost, but i believe in it and i need it and i hope I'm not totally in distress and there is a part of truth in it. And the day we will be again together because i believe in it too, we can talk about these dreams like we lived them together and we can live others.

Thank you again for the translation and this wonderful support in every way of living or ending things 💜

Thank you for your support. Yes you are right losing my soulmate is the most unrealistic and painful thing i have ever felt... If life gave me a second chance to change it i would do anything on earth. My quest to find peace has always been hard but today without her it seems like i will never believe and accept she is gone physically. Everynight i hug one of her favorite outfit and sometimes i close my eyes and focus on it and i imagine her in my arms telling me to hug her as she always said. I'm crying writing this, why... how... These questions and this emptyness will never be complete again.

I'm not going to lie, after complete our dreams i will certainly end my days because i just want to join her after all. I try all the things possible in life but one day if i succeed there will be nothing after in life so back again on the track to death. Unless somehow she come back but this is magic in my head at this point my brain do not know what imagine to calm the pain and makes stories. Good stories but it stays as a dream. One day i know sooner or later i'll do it. Even with all energy put in life. This is a life without her and i just can't live a complete Life without the love of my life, the mother of the children we wanted to adopt in the futur...
Life just destroyed me and i think i will take all dreams i can to realize them in life then i will come say good bye here.

Salut Aren.

If it Makes You Happy ».

Hi Aren. I hope you are still with us. You're very welcome for the translation and my input. I was not sure if you are interested in the biology and statistics regarding suicide. What I will share with you as we go along is what I know about how to survive. I should have been dead decades ago, but I am very good at staying alive. So that is my focus here. As I explained, I do understand and respect your need (and mine) to consider the option of suicide, but I cannot directly help you with that option. However, as I said, many of the tools we'll develop together can be used to stay or to leave. My input here is not conditional on your choice. At all. I hope that is clear and acceptable to you. There are plenty of other people on this forum who can help you with suicide if that is the choice you make.

In your reply yesterday, the first three paragraphs are really about problems, which is step 2. My only question is are you safe in your parents' home. It is one thing to be in an uncomfortable, toxic environment and another thing to be unsafe. So are you safe? If you are safe, could you hold these thoughts until step 2, please?

Your list of fuel sources is fabulous! This is a great start. I just have a few questions before we go further.

Intellectual: Are you able to work now and are they supportive of your fragile emotional state? Do I understand correctly that you work with creating stories for video games? Is there anything else you do to improve your thinking, such as hobbies, creative projects, gaming, puzzles, meditation?

Emotional: Instead of thinking what the people in your life cannot do, can you think of things they can do? Typically most people can do something but no one can do everything. For example, accompany you to the movies, go for a walk, talk on the phone, text, go our for drinks, go out for a meal. You named some things. Can you think of more? For the love of you life, have you considered building a shrine for her in your bedroom?

Physical: As you probably know, benzodiazepines are very helpful to slow down thoughts to reduce anxiety, but if we use them too much, they can become addictive and then they stop working. They also relax our muscles, which can make it difficult to get motivated to be physical. Camomile tea is a great natural and gentler alternative to help relax your muscles and reduce anxiety. I use both benzodiazepines (carefully) and camomile tea. Could you go for a walk as a form of exercise for now? Our body needs to move. And if we don't move, anxiety builds and your body hurts because the muscles are not being stretched, which they need to do. Also if you can walk outside, the sunshine and open space will help your mental state and your ability to sleep. Could you even do half an hour of walking outside?

Regarding the Batman Begins movie.... Oh that is one of my favourites too. Absolutely. What I like about that movie is it is the most broken and the most human we have ever seen Batman. (That is the last Batman movie I saw because the rest are too cruel for me to watch.) I thought of you in that movie because like Batman in that movie, you are so authentic and your heart is wide open. That is the most important part of embracing pain - to acknowledge it and to describe it. It is difficult to see a solution when you are buried and blinded by a mountain of pain. But if you see the mountain as being made of little parts, and if you can look at those little parts one by one, and understand each part before moving to the next, well, you can see the whole mountain. That is often what my approach to life struggles is, to put the struggle into bite-size pieces. So that is what we can do, if you want to, starting with Step 1.

You know how I was saying traps come in different forms? So there is this video and song that Sheryl Crow did called "If it Makes You Happy". The song is about her getting mad at people who criticised her music. The video she made is really interesting because it is her trapped in a little room in a museum of little rooms of dead wildlife. She is the only living specimen, and she is freaking out mad, kicking and screaming and falling apart. She reminds me of when I am trapped in the psychiatric ward and being tortured. But it can also be a physical representation of being mentally trapped, as you talk about. Here is that video. You don't need to understand the words because you can see enough to know what she is experiencing. I love this video because she is switching around from so crazy angry, so impossibly trapped, so exhausted, so full of energy.... And all along she is so beautiful. The colours explode. Her emotions are all laid out for the world to see. To me, she is like the female Batman of Batman Begins, and this is like her mini movie.

Salut Aren.

If it Makes You Happy ».

Yes i understand and i agree with you about our discussions.

With my parents i feel unsafe and they make me fear them especially my dad who is violent and my mom who follow him as soon as he appears... Most of the time it is toxic with pressure but when i talk about my situation or about what i feel it become unsafe for me because they don't accept my anxiety and pain so they will want to cut it as quick as they can even if it's violent with words or physically. I'm 28 yo i know but they PTSD me when i was child, i ran away as soon as i could but today i have nowhere to go because of the loss of my girlfriend...
I have no clues or solution for it for now. I just stay as long as i can in my bedroom, door closed.

Intellectual : they are not a support. By story in video games i meant play solo game to dive in another world, another story of life, and i play sometimes online to have human contact with people who are kind and share some good moments. To improve thinking i used to do drawing, graphist stuff and i would like to do meditation but i never found a meditation that could bring me to some peace with my thoughts. I love creation, but i feel so empty since 1 month.

Emotional : i finally could go outside see the match with my best friend and his parents. I always wanted that his parents become mine too. They are support for emotion and intellectual parts and they are open to talk and listen and try to understand what they don't know. The opposite of my parents...
This moment and these people (best friend and his parents) are helpful but it needs too much energy from me to activate this support. It will not come without asking even they know the situation.
That's the same for my niece and my sister. So emotional with other's support is very unstable. I try to find a way to make it more stable by my self but lonelyness is a pain i cannot overcome now and maybe never.

I have not a shrine for her, but i put all our memories at a place in my bedroom with photos of us, my favorite is our photo from our first Valentine's Day. It reminds me happyness of this moment and in other hand pain because i miss her so much.

Yes i think I'm a little bit addict to benzo... And it stop the pain but stop all things too so yes i search for alternative. I found alternative where i lived before with my girlfriend, i used to go to walk to the sea, the sunset, the icecream... But where my parents live it's a deep country and there is nothing, like the Mordor of lord of the ring. Only agricultural fields, no forest, no people, no sea, no place to be in a "peaceful" place like the Park where i loved to go before under the trees. If i want to go somewhere i have to take my car for at least 30-45 minutes...
I search everyday a thing close to me but for now i did not found, i ask to my parents but they answered that they don't know and they do nothing here and if they want something 45 min of road is quick. No it's not quick.

All i did in my previous city was at 5 min or 15 min of walk, no car. My body and mental were way better over there even after the loss. I was not good but now i'm worse because it's a prison of lonelyness. I did exercice for hours and loved it before because the spots were welcoming, interesting, and soothing. I have not this here for now.

For the batman movie, yes i completly agree and i try to transform this mountain of pain into little mountain one by one even if they can sometimes be linked. But emotion and sadness make me often forget these little mountain and put again the big mountain in front of me with a fog to think about it other than pain to escape.

The video is very interesting and deep. I wonder how one can manage all this without letting life just drag one along at random.

Thanks again for translation it helps and i try my best to think about what i'm writing to do it the most authenticly possible. I try to accept that i need suicidal thoughts as an escape and accept that i need to try to reach our dreams in life as far as i can. But i try to not put pressure on myself and i think like if i have no more energy to reach our dreams because life continue to blast my head, i will end it. Because i'm ok to try our dreams but I'm not ok with a life where i Always meet bad person at a point for my project like professional and life with a partner, a lover.

Thank you for your support, your words are precious, and i know i am the only one to dedice if i stay in life or go in death but it's a relief to have the possibility to talk to people like you and others people who understand, share life experiences to make pain less painful and maybe one day be happy in life or free in death.
Aren, may the best team win tonight 😁

I wake up every morning with nightmares and fear because i don't want to open my eyes and see the reality is without her and in my bedroom...
Yesterday i tried to do an activity with my best friend in the only "big" city near my parent's home... This city... With my girlfriend we worked during 7 years to escape from this city because it's only bad people who are aggressives and individual. It was so bad that we decided to go back at my best friend parents' house. His parents listen to me and it was a better moment but the last time i went in their house was with my girlfriend so memories took me down.

Today, my mom ask me if i slept well and i said i wake up with nightmares then she did not even ask me what is the nightmare or if i have anxiety... Then she swap to ask me if the event with my best fried was good. I mean she does not even take interest in what i said. Just checking for her own anxiety.

So i did not be able to talk about my emotions again. And even when i talk about the event with my best friend and said that i gave a second chance to this city but it is still the same bad city with bad people. To give you a picture imagine a city with a lot of people with 1% of benefits from a city and 99% of disadvantages like There are aggressive, selfish people here—people who cheat whenever they can, who trample on others, thieves who are filthy and respect nothing; people who are bitter and lead miserable lives, so they try to take over the lives of others. There is no joy in this city. Even my best friend told me that nothing has changed in the four or five years since I left.

The city is undeveloped and falling into further neglect year after year, even though it's the largest city in the entire region (France is divided into regions—like mini-states—that all share the same laws, but where local leaders decide whether or not to develop things).
Yet, nothing here is being developed. Where I used to live by the coast—a place I fought for seven years to reach with my girlfriend—people were happy and cooperative; you could leave your door and your car unlocked. When I attended an event (a soccer match) there five days ago, the people were wonderful, pleasant, and welcoming; the atmosphere was joyful and the area well-developed. I don't know if I can hold on, because I can't find any resources here, and the weight of my girlfriend's absence is becoming increasingly heavy. Her birthday is in a month—the same day we were supposed to get engaged.

Honestly, I think that unless something significant changes to bring me some peace and help me move forward, I'll end the relationship then and there, once and for all. Because while trying is good, and thinking about solutions is too, I just don't see a way forward when the life I have here offers me no real chance of survival. I can't keep waking up every morning imagining myself in his arms, only to open my eyes and realize he isn't there—that I'm living a nightmare in a horrible place, surrounded by horrible people—and right now I'm stuck, because the only opportunity to move forward won't start until September, and for the moment, there is nothing strong enough to help me survive.

As I write this, I've told my mother I'm really not doing well—that I hate my life here, that I can't sleep because of nightmares, and that I have no appetite... You know what? She let me lock myself in my room, and now she's gone off to eat while chatting and laughing on the phone with my dad... Meanwhile, despite all the warning signs I've shown, I'm left all alone, teetering on the edge between life and death. My car is struggling to run; I absolutely have to fix it so I can get away quickly if I need to. I just overheard my dad on the phone saying he was fed up with his children... The very same person who destroyed those children and now refuses to take any responsibility for it. It's a joke. I really think I need to fix that car. My living environment is definitely too toxic. My parents cancel all i say, like "you can find good people here it's not true we have one person in this village who is good"... I mean how can they be so delusional and unlikable. It's too much for me.

I really don't think I can hold on.

Salut Aren. ❤️

Hi, Aren. ❤️

I am in a family crisis right now, so I have not been able to read your messages from yesterday or today - just a little bit. But I did get your last sentence that you can't hold on. I just want to respond to that to say that people with a childhood history of abuse (like you and me), we are taught that we can't. We can't do anything, or be anything, or think anything, or become anything - along those lines. So, we need to reprogram our brain to change that tape in our head. I believe I have seen your heart because heart knows heart. Because of that, I have faith in you. You have all the heart you need to adapt to this new world and new you that you are faced with. You are now being reborn as parts of your old world and parts of the old you are dying. At the same time, a new world is emerging and a new you is emerging. So this is a crazy amount for you to hold all at once. So it is natural to be experiencing such dreadful pain. These are growing pains and dying pains. This is a death and rebirth. When you are faced with a difficult situation and you feel doubt within yourself, instead of saying "I can't" could you please try saying "what do I need in this situation?".

I will read and reply to your two messages as soon as possible.

One more thing... Have you seen the movie "The Matrix"? It might help if you try to think of your life before your girlfriend dying as a life in the matrix, because it was real but it is no longer real. You can continue the current life you have and end the life you know with suicide. Or you can insert a semicolon into the life you have known to now and try to adapt to the new world and this new you. So what will it be? The blue pill or the red pill?

I hope your family crisis will find a good way to resolve it without pain.

The last two days i'm really alone in my life and nightmares are destroying me.

I think i could handle the situation if i could do something now to build something to reach our dreams but i can't. Life makes me wait during almost 2 month with nothing but pain.
I think everyday about 14th august. Anniversary and marriage...

Every morning and every night is pure pain, i know memories are stronger at these moment.

Irony, the only thing that helps me to calm down the anxiety and nightmare is to think and dream about all the action, the moment on this bridge to jump. But it's a painful escape thought and at one moment i must wake up.
Today I had some good news about work and my girlfriend but i think it's really unstable and ...fragile, and too rare to offset the loss. I ought to have that much more often—even daily—to stand a chance of surviving until I can take action to realize our dreams. Especially on certain key days. I live in fear of that fear and instability, because the bridge is never far away and the suffering is always present. If you have any further advice on your survival method—while keeping an escape route open, like the one we discussed—I would appreciate it.

These last day i'm overwhelming by émotions and lonelyness.

While I was moving, my family broke some of my boxes—which were full of keepsakes and gifts from my girlfriend—because they handled them poorly when taking them off the truck. So, for the past two days, I've been trying hard to replace them, but it hasn't been easy. Some things I'll never be able to replace. My family is a real hindrance to my goal—whether that goal is living or dying. Today showed that if I can find a supportive environment with people other than my family, and get some good news regarding myself and my girlfriend, I might be able to get through this without ending it all. But it hangs by a thread and depends largely on other people. On my own, I can't seem to find the resources I need; it's just too hard...

Again thank you for your support to you and all people here 💜
Aren, are you still with us?

((Aren, es-tu toujours avec nous ?))
Yes I'm still here but overwhelmed like i said with more details in the other answer. I don't know why but i feel i was in a tunnel of pain and lonelyness since 2 days... I tried to search some options to no be in it but after 2 days i did not found anything I could do without help from others people...

Yes Matrix is one of my favorite movie, especially the first one. I often think about blue or red pill and it's like i took half of both... And i think all the events happening since June lead me to take the second half of the death pill...
