I learned from my first SN attempt that I really can't tolerate the taste of salty liquids. It's absolutely horrendous and I'd puke immediately and likely fail again. I have to block my taste buds and I'm considering using a benzocaine spray.

I tried searching for a mouth spray that contains benzocaine but managed to find only one that's used to prevent premature ejaculation. I'm even willing to go through the embarrassment of buying this and receiving weird looks from the cashier, but I figured there must be a good reason why it isn't a more widely spread idea. Could it have some negative effects? These are the ingredients:

Menthol cristal
Eucalyptus essential oil
Benzocaine
Vitamin E

I do have a post about it. It's on an old account that I deactivated after getting all the necessary information and later failed to reactivate when I needed it again.

Here it is: https://sanctioned-suicide.net/thre...eriences-from-the-icu-and-a-psych-ward.63841/

It's quite lengthy and you won't get any special insight from it though. I messed up by deciding to do it in the comfort of my room instead of doing it the proper way and booking a hotel room.

Well I don't drive, but I suppose I could order it online and pick it up in a post office. I just hope it won't interfere with SN

You can buy orajel from amazon, it works well for the teeth but never tried on a tongue but it should work.

At my country benzydamine (Tantum Verde) is more popular, it's both lozenges and spray, intended to numb the sore throat or (the spray) the wound after a tooth extraction, but it also makes the tongue sort of numb.
I have absolutely no clue if it would be a viable aid for SN. Certainly the vomiting isn't only from the taste, but also from the body recognizing it as a poison and trying to get rid of it.

Wow. That is some reading. I'm so sorry for what you went through. I agree with another poster that your body will react in the same way due to "muscle memory". I'm not sure if the benzocaine will do the trick. The vomiting may still happen from your stomachs reaction.

There's tantum verde here too.
I actually ended up getting another spray that contains benzydamine and I'm going to test it tomorrow by drinking water with salt after spraying it on my tongue. I'm aware that taste isn't the only cause of vomiting, but it's a major contributing factor. I threw up immediately after drinking the solution so I don't think there was enough time for the body to recognize the ingested substance as dangerous.

I do believe that vomiting is inevitable even if one follows the antiemetic regimen, but delaying it as much as possible should increase the toxicity.

I do expect that, I tried drinking salt water a few times to get familiar with the taste and it only brought back the memories and I couldn't drink it. I don't think I'm capable of going with another method so this is my only hope

Nice. It actually contains a much higher percentage of benzocaine than the one I was considering, so that's great. I might end up getting this one

I can't help but I'm personally not worried about the taste. As a teen I used to drink salt water to help me throw up and I've drunken antifreeze a few times too, not sure many things can taste worse than that

Well I guess you got lucky with your salt-favourable taste buds. It's extremely annoying having to deal with my body's relentless survival mechanisms.

There's one other issue that an anesthetic might help with though - sore throat. That's another unpleasant side effect I experienced.

Vitamin E, like vitamin C, is an antioxidant that makes SN less effective. I found a stronger version of benzocaine called lidocaine that also comes as a throat spray which is what I'll probably use.

Oh I see, thanks for the info. I knew about vitamin C as that's what they used as an antidote following my first attempt, but I didn't know that vitamin E had the same effect.

Did you get the spray from a local pharmacy or online? Pharmacies in my country don't seem to be selling benzocaine/lidocaine-containing sprays and it's very difficult to find one online that ships to my country.

I managed to find one that sells a spray called Xylocaine but it contains some weird additional ingredients, one of which is citric acid, which I don't think should be combined with SN.

Yeah, that's the one I'm talking about, the brand name of the spray is xylocaine and the ingredient is lidocaine. The spray I found doesn't contain citric acid but there are a bunch of other ingredients and that's why I'm not sure whether to get it or not, I found the spray from an online pharmacy.

Do you think this would work? What will a sore throat spray do for the taste?
