Not content with spreading shameless lies about this pro-choice site & its founders and presenting a totally biased, completely one-sided false narrative against those offering much-needed support & comfort to depressed and suicidal people, the very same anti-choice bullies at the filthy NYT have now launched an all out war on SN.

A food preservative sold by the online retailer and other e-commerce sites was being used as a poison to die by suicide.

"Please stop selling this product," began one review, posted on Amazon in July 2019 by a person who wrote that a niece had used it to kill herself. "I've already notified Amazon and they said they would help with this but they have not."

Since then, suicides linked to sales of the preservative through Amazon have continued.

I bought mine with ease about 12 months ago after a few minutes of searching on another highly mainstream shopping website. In recent months it has gone and there is no more access there. This is one battle that they will win with ease, though I suspect that there will continue to be underground sources for those in the know, as is the case for N.

Yeah, I suspected that SN would get harder to get access to. I mean it has been impossible to get in the UK for some years now. It is only a matter of time that other countries will restrict it even further. If SN is gone, I'll resort to less reliable and more damaging methods like hanging.

I know someone in the long-term care who's in her late 20s, and now stuck there with retirees because of failed hanging by discovery. That's worse than death itself.

I guess they want me to die in agonizing pain and/or left me in a permanent brain damage.

I wish I could answer that, but it's been a while, and I haven't read her history and chart in its entirety. I don't remember what happens with her after being discovered. I only saw her for 4-6 weeks when I did my clinical there.

I'll tell you what she was before I left. She was always crying, on a wheelchair with uncontrollable salivation and the posture is all crooked like her neck doesn't align her head, fingers always closed, incontinent of urine and bowel movement, vomits occasionally and can't speak. She can't eat through mouth, instead they placed a G-Tube so that the food can be "flushed" to the tube, directly to the stomach.

She was able to speak before, but can't now because speech therapy or some sort of brain retraining is too expensive. Now, the only way she can communicate is through crying or blinking eyes. She can stand before, but since she's inactive for like 2 years, her body deteriorated, so she's pretty skinny, so she is bedbound or in a wheelchair with no strength to wheel herself. God knows in what state she's in and where she's heading. Poor soul.

On the bright side, she's got family who loves her unconditionally. Her mom visits her almost everyday to talk to her.

Since then, hanging is out of the question for me. It may become an option if SN is gone.

it reminds me of gun control arguments: Access to gun increases suicide risk. The respond is usually: if someone wants to suicide they will find a way.

Limiting peaceful methods is barbaric. It will result in more gruesome/violent suicides

Sadly, this will be restricted for sale in most places and may even become like Nembutal to get a hold of. They would be as well as just saying to people, hey why not jump in front of a train or jump from a building instead because we are taking away your rights to a relatively peaceful death. After perusing the article I will say that It's definitely tragic to read about all of these grieving parents/relatives of the deceased, but I still don't think that outright banning the purchase of SN is the right approach to remedying all of this suffering.

The core root of the problem (suicidality) is much more deeply entrenched, and the current systems in place just aren't properly addressing it. If anything they're only serving to exacerbate its severity.

Why should those of us at the peak of despair have to risk mutilation, vegetation, or permanent disability just to escape from the cruel lot that life has assigned to us? All we want is access to a peaceful, quiet, & dignified death.

I agree! The evil bastards will take away every relatively peaceful & dignified means of CTB, forcing the suicidal to choose extremely painful, bloody, gory, messy and unpleasant ways to exit.

I too, advise members who want SN to get their hands on some as soon as possible before the scumbags ban the sale of the product. And for heaven's sake, don't mention the source of your SN to anyone in real life or even publicly on this forum.
