I am shocked and appalled at this site it has become a place for anyone to post anything they want. I'm disgusted that Strangelife who has been on this site for less than one month can post horrendous pictures of dead people, yet I've been on here for years and when I request that the post be banned I'm the one who is punished. I will NOT support this site any longer and in fact will help whatever and whoever I can to have this horrendous site taken down. So go ahead mods, kiss whoever's ass you want cross out my name I don't give a fuck anymore. This site should be taken down and with all the informaition I've collected will be taken down.

The existence of this site is very reliant on freedom of speech being stretched to it's limits, you cannot complain when you see things you don't like, especially if the images you're seeing are on topic.

I think it's important that people who CTB are making informed decisions, and one of the things you need to inform yourself on is how your death is going to impact others. This is not disrespect for suicidal people, this is making sure you understand the gravity of your decision in terms of how it impacts others.

There's a good chance I will CTB at some point, and will definitely take into account all perspectives/information before making a decision.

Are you saying you want to be ignorant on the consequences for your actions? If you kill yourself, you must know what your body is going to appear like to others who will have to deal with your corpse and what you are subjecting them to, otherwise you are going to be unaware of how your decision effects others and your CTB becomes less sympathetic.

I am for your right to CTB but you need to make an informed decision.

You are among the users here who i dearly love, sympathize with and respect so I am gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume it's only the hurt and pain talking and not your usual rational self. The pictures are from case studies and already out on the web for a long time most probably after the consent of loved ones. In my case, I never believed in the idea of collective responsibility where everybody must suffer because of the actions of one person.

Though, I am curious, what information or power do you have over this site to take it down? Big corporations like NYT and the BBC have substantially more power and media influence than you and yet even they failed to take the site down

The sites not going down any time soon, it serves a public purpose for people struggling with suicide and that's something that's bigger than one person

I think that is something that can be discussed. Is it horrendous to see the reality of what people here desire to do? The information has been available before, but it just has been shared with us on this forum. Even with a warning, so no one is forced to see the pictures. A point can be made about respectfulness and privacy of death, and especially since some of the photos shared were the corpse of a user of this site. It's good that the face was censored, and no personally identifiable information was mentioned in the article.

In what way were you punished for requesting to ban the post? I wouldn't agree with that, because it's just a request. Unless it was formulated in a particularly disrespectful way.

Yikes dude. No idea what you're talking about. Pictures are always put in spoilers to protect those who don't want to see graphic content and for the most part, these are publicly available anyway. For example, you reported this thread, which was rejected. You can find the pictures attached in that thread in these studies here [1][2][3] and you can easily find them with a quick Google search as well if you search "sodium nitrite deaths". I think we're treating images of people who have passed away with a lot of respect in this forum and it's important to consider that people who are planning their exit want to understand what their picked method is going to do with their body, right. That's why people want to see how people look like who used SN to commit suicide, for example and that's why that thread exists. That's part of the educational research into your own exit. I don't see any problems with that and we had this policy when it comes to graphic content, when it's related to method discussion, for years.

Here is an example of a website that doesn't take the dignity of those who passed away into consideration because the entire website is designed around voyeurism. Compare their thread with our hanging megathread. You're going after the wrong people.

This site should be taken down and with all the informaition I've collected will be taken down.

I can assure you that you're not the first person who had this thought and failed. Good luck though.

This is so unlike the poster many of us like and respect, I'm hoping you're not having a serious episode. I doubt anyone has been "punished" for reporting a post/thread to Admin and they disagreed that it was unacceptable … I certainly haven't, though I have reported on occasion.
As you know, for many of us enduring in circumstances which make it impossible to ctb meantime, this site is perhaps our only safety valve to vent and scream. It's the only place I can openly say I wish I were dead with no fear of consequences.
I hope whatever you're going through passes soon and look forward to seeing the "real" you back with us again.

I am very sorry, the post was only for understanding the method, I did not want to cause negative emotions in anyone, I acquired SN myself and in this regard I am studying all its aspects. I apologize again if something is wrong.

Rain is right, the problem is those who publish this kind of content or those who share it for perverse attention : in the case of the thread in question, the use he makes of it is correct, he didn't take these photos himself, he shared it for "educational" purpose, the only fault is as others have pointed out, the author of the thread should have published the source where the images are located and not the images directly.

There was a title, there was a spoiler (maybe added after the fact, idk). Unfortunately, it seems that you chose to open it and that triggered you — I didn't open it personally. It's not the first time that people have posted pictures of dead people as a way to inform the others on how some of us may end up using specific methods, because not everyone wants to die a gruesome way for the people that will discover them.

I disagree with some people on this website, but saying that you will "help whatever and whoever I can to have this horrendous site taken down [...]" and that "this site should be taken down and with all the information I've collected will be taken down." is really a sad thing to read — and it sounds like you were already gathering info on the website just to see its downfall.

You've seen one post like this and you're acting like this is some kind of voyeurism website, and if you were there for a year you should know that's not the case. Yeah, it seems that specific thread triggered you and that is understandable — even people on the thread were not really into it being shared like that.
