Would something like this from amaz... work? The reviews say it only fills up about 15 balloons and the balloons don't last more than four or so hours. Would that be an issue?View attachment 128483
They fill them mixed with air so people can't CTB with it, also it doesn't have enough volume.

I am going to use 2 home helium packages. The website I order from says the content is 99% helium and not 80% helium and 20% air.

I buy the first smallest tank and measure the content with an oxygen meter.
If it is not what they promise, then I resort to the more expensive available option. To Argon...

What country are you buying from?

Thank you. The description says it's 99.98% pure and the last five acts book says only balloon time tanks are mixed with oxygen. That's what made me think this might be a feasible option. The industrial tanks intimidate me. Also finding a lot of empty tanks for sale without the gas in them.

Guys, could you possibly show me on amazon what kind of mask would you purchase for this? I'm completely lost

I'm going to leave home with a helium balloon tank. According to the seller, the content is 99% helium and not 80% helium and 20% air. I'm going to check the gas purity of the content with a meter. If the content is not suitable for this purpose, then argon
Hi, I purchased a helium tank and wanted to check the purity. How do I go about this? What type of device do I need?

Do you immediately fall into a severe hypoxic coma with 1% oxygen or does that happen after a while during that 10-15 minutes?

I'm looking for advice for a variation of the hood way but using a military grade gas mask which is connected to a nitrogen filled environment instead.

I propose using this gas mask

IMG 1191

Connecting it by a hose such as this with the correct tread

IMG 1192
Which is connected to a vessel, about 6 liter big

IMG 1194
This airtight 6 liter container for medical use i intend to create a nitrogen filled environment which i will be breathing from. Since I don't want the container to blow up I intend to use one way ventilation valves so the positive pressure from the nitrogen will push out the last remaining air after i prefilled it. Then after I'm sure the container is filled with nitrogen and the pressure is 15 liter/minute I put on the mask and it should be nitrogen with an airtight mask which doesn't leak and provide a co2 exit.

Any thoughts about this setup? Haven't seen anyone bring this setup really.

Anything below 6% should cause quick fainting according to

This article also says that concentrations below 11% are dangerous to life.

I don't have a data on timings related to coma, but I think, it's unlikely that 0% and 1% of oxygen would have noticeably different effects. 1% is a very low concentration.

So this article is fascinating and I'm just not sure how deep the unconsciousness of someone is right after fainting from inert gas. Do they still react to loud noises or pain stimuli? Can you wake people up that are ctbing with tjis method is such a question

Looks like the research I've been doing on helium deaths has been promising. I've read so many coroner reports of Helium deaths to ad nauseum. It seems like it will be just as successful as Nitrogen.
I got the real hefty medical helium tanks from a party supply store.
Some posters on other forums has said that this method won't work because helium isn't pure nowadays, but in the coroner helium reports I've read, some of the people commiting suicide used the small party helium tanks.
Screenshot 20240211 082936 Samsung Internet
If that does the job, what I have should definitely work.
Does anyone know if someone's weight plays a factor in fatality? Like needing a bigger or more tanks to get the job done?

Hello, I'm new here, I posted a thread but have not received any responses yet.
I'm eager to try the helium method today. But I'm anxious it won't work. I need something to look forward to just in case it doesn't. I plan on taking sleeping pills prior, so I don't get anxious and pull the bag off.
But I digress, If I wake up from this method, I need to know I have something else lined up to get the job done.
I posted a website where it claims I can purchase Nitrogen online. However, I'm not sure if it's legitimate. I can't afford to waste too much money, as I'm already renting the helium tank I currently have and have to return it tomorrow if it doesn't work. Plus, I have to return to work tomorrow. 😪
I'm in the U.S.
Here's the website with the Nitrogen. Does it look legitimate? If it is, is it big enough. I know I will need a regulator. Your responses are deeply appreciated.
Screenshot 20240210 170511 Chrome

Edit: I tried to do the helium method via exit bag. I had my pulse oximeter on my finger, and within seconds, my pulse dropped from 99 to 75. During the seconds of it dropping, I felt extremely dizzy and light headed. Similar to the feeling I used to get while being sedated with Nitrous Oxide at the dentist. Only thing is the feeling is intensified because the tank is going full blast.
I panicked and took the bag off, because the feeling scared me.
I might try again later tonight beforeIgo to sleep. Perhaps when I'm tired and in sleep mode, I won't be so anxious. So frustrating.

Thank you! If I were to use the first one- but with a plastic bag and poly tubing- how would I put all the pieces together?
You have to make the exit bag yourself. People usually use turkey oven bags. Look at the previous two or three in pages on this thread. There's links to videos on how to make them. Some recent posters have made them, maybe PM them for tips. The PPH has an instruction pdf:.

Then you buy either oxygen tubing or pvc vinyl tubing, and tape it to the inside of the bag.

In the past, people often connected these bags directly to helium balloon cannisters, using hose clamps or tape. In recent years, like others have said, some of those companies have started adding oxygen to them, so some are not high enough purity.

There was a thread about those helium balloon cannisters a couple of months back, a poster planned to hook up a bag to two helium cannisters:

The PPH advises using gas regulators, to control the flow of gas coming from a gas cylinder.
So, after you have the exit bag and tubing, it's advised to get a nitrogen or argon gas regulator with flowmeter (or a nitrogen click-style regulator). Screw the regulator into a nitrogen/argon/helium cylinder(preferably 1000litres plus of compressed gas) using an adjustable wrench.
Attach the tubing to the gas regulator hose barb with mini hose clamps.

Like I said, go back over the last few pages of this thread to see how-to videos for the exit bag, and posters who made one

I haven't seen that nitrogen source mentioned here before. Some previous posters said they weren't able to get nitrogen delivered in the U.S., only collected. I looked up the source(Google "Nitrogen (N2) 550 Liter Cylinder 99.999% Pure" for anyone who wants to look into it. Source begins with jj.....) ; it might be a good source for people, as the cylinder is disposable, and they seem to deliver worldwide to individuals (postage isn't cheap though- from the U.S roughly €200 to Europe.).
(If you get this cylinder delivered to outside the U.S., you will need to use a U.S. gas regulator also, CGA 580 inlet connection.)

As for the size, it's 550 litres. The PPH says it takes 10-15 mins to ctb via inert gas. So with the exit bag at 15lpm the gas would last around 36 mins(550÷15=36). With a hood and regulator set to 25lpm(as PPH recommends 25lpm for hoods), the gas would last around 22 mins.

Plus, that cylinder is disposable; some gas companies only rent out nitrogen cylinders. This cylinder doesn't require a deposit or yearly rental charge. Might be a good source for people who do the nitrogen method.

Ok thank you. The exit bag I'm clear on. It's just how to attach the tubing and regulator to the tank that I needed guidance on.

Does it really need to be 600 liters of inert gas? I just bought a 350 Helium cylinder, using the link in the (german) book by Jessica Düber.

There are plenty of YouTube videos of welders attaching nitrogen or argon regulators to cylinders. And medical practitioners attaching oxygen tubing to O2 regulators:

Argon regulator, hose barb and hose attachment:

Oxygen tubing to an oxygen cylinder (I'm showing this video to show the type of oxygen tubing often used with an exit bag. Don't buy an oxygen regulator! In this video they don't use hose clamps for the tubing, someone using a nitrogen/argon regulator should):

EU regulator installation including leak test(making sure there's no gas bubbles at connections):

I don't know that book. If you're using a gas regulator and setting it to 15lpm, 350 litres gives 23 mins worth of gas(350÷15).

Some people bought two helium cylinders and connected them to a t-joint connection, without a regulator. (See the "Helium - my plan. No regulator" thread I linked above).

I'm so overwhelmed, CTB shouldn't be this difficult. Thank goodness for this site.
I notice all of these methods start to get really pricey, especially if one keeps failing, or backing out.
I'm currently renting a helium tank. I freak out every time I attempt and pull the bag off. My spo2 drops to 75, so I know it's working, but I panic for some reason...which makes me waste some helium too.
I guess it's the thought of running out of Helium too soon and waking up with long term damage that terrifies me.
Is this regulator okay? This is my current helium tank. I can't adjust it to a preferred level. It comes out full strength. I think that's why I panic.
20240212 202021

I wish these methods would knock me out instantly...before I could panic. Sorry for the rant.

Apparently, it will only cost me under 27 U.S. dollars to get that Nitrogen shipped to me, and I can get the other pieces off of Amazon.
Thanks for all of the information. @Tears in Rain 😊

Yeah, S.I. can be hard to get over. It usually takes 30-60 seconds to lose consciousness with an exit bag or hood.

That regulator seems to only have bar pressure readings on it as far as I can see. Ideally, you'd have one that has litres per minute readings on it. Then you can have a rough idea how long the gas will last.

Up to yourself if you want to risk that regulator that you have.

Hi, so after pondering about this more and studying this thread, (I'm on page 19), and will continue studyingin the meantime. However, I'm on borrowed time, and want to do this as soon as I can.

I wondering if I should buy two tanks.
Reason being is because if I waste some gas due to SI or test run, I will only have one tank with now less gas inside, and if there is a moment I'm ready to ctb, I would have less nitrogen left over to complete the job.

This is the biggest nitrogen tank they have.
Screenshot 20240210 170511 Chrome
If I get two tanks, I know I will need two regulators. I can get medical tubing from my job.
if I activate the two tanks at once, that means I'm getting twice as much nitrogen to complete the job....which means a higher success rate?
This method is becoming more expensive than I anticipated, but if the end result is ctb, it is worth it.
@Tears in Rain ,May I please know your opinion on this?

You're going through the whole thread? It might save you to time to just skip straight from the first page to where a poster called @GasMonkey started posting. Even going back to last summer on the thread is probably back far enough. They were very knowledgeable on this subject, and anything relevant before that would have been subsequently mentioned by him.

It's your call on needing more nitrogen or not. Like I said, the PPH says death after 5-10 mins.550 liters of nitrogen at 15lpm with exit bag gives about 36 mins worth of gas. So, up to yourself if that's enough to give you peace of mind.
If you're doing tests and stuff, then maybe it's worthwhile getting more. Best not to be worrying about having enough gas and that.

I presume you're thinking of getting two of those cylinders because they are delivered, and you can't collect a larger single nitrogen cylinder? Are you going to attach them to a hose t-joint or y-joint fitting, with hose clamps. That looks like this:
Screenshot 20240215 154050 Screenshot 20240215 154046

And then have one tube going into the bag?
Or two tubes going directly into the one bag, one tube from each cylinder?

The PPH says 15lpm is optimal flowrate with nitrogen for the exit bag. If you hook up 2 cylinders to a y-joint at 15lpm, the nitrogen will last longer.
Obviously, you'd ideally have one larger nitrogen cylinder, but if that's the largest that delivers, then it's your best option to go with 2, if you don't want to go with argon(which you can get delivered in a larger size in the U.S. (40cu/ft /~1100 litres).

Some people have been talking about using two smaller cylinders together, maybe due to not being able to get a large cylinder delivered.

I mentioned above about the use of a hose t-junction piece to transfer the gas from two tubes to one tube/hose.
I came across a video, posted on this thread before, where a guy used 2 party balloon helium cannisters hooked up to an exit bag. This would have been when they were 100% purity helium. The guy uses a hose t-junction, so I said I'll post the video to show how he did it.

The guy does not use gas regulators; he just hooked up the helium cannisters directly to an exit bag, via vinyl tubing and a hose t-junction. While this has worked many times in the past for people, and some people still do this, I would still recommend the use of gas regulators. It gives more peace of mind.

Video link here.

Getting two is probably unnecessary, especially if I want to leave as much money as possible for family.
I ordered the nitrogen tank yesterday, will get the regulator. The one below from Amazon. The reviews look decent.

What is the name of the item circled? I'm assuming I will need that too?
Another poster posted their setup, I screenshotted it.
The item circled is called a flowmeter (a floating ball flowmeter). They usually measure litres per minute of gasflow (LPM), or standard cubic foot per hour(SCFH) gasflow. Ideally you get one with LPM, but SCFH can be easily converted to LPM. Yes, you need one of these to set the flow to 15lpm with the exit bag and nitrogen.
(25 LPM for argon regulator with argon gas).

You can buy these flowmeters separate, but they can come with a regulator. So you need to search for nitrogen regulator with flowmeter.

Some people have found it difficult getting a nitrogen regulator with flowmeter. But they were able to get a nitrogen click-style regulator. They have LPM also, and look like this(below is U.S. region regulator):

Others have found it easier to find argon regulators with a flowmeter, because they are used a lot in welding. In some countries, like the U.S. and U.K., these argon flowmeters have the same inlet connection as a nitrogen regulator, as nitrogen, argon and helium have the same cylinder connection.( I thought this was the case everywhere, but I recently found out that in Germany(and certain EU countries that use Din connections), argon and helium have a different cylinder connection to nitrogen).
So if you can't find a nitrogen regulator with flowmeter, an argon one will work fine for a nitrogen cylinder from U.S. or U.K. Not sure about other regions in the World apart from Germany/EU.
(15 lpm on an argon regulator gives about 20lpm of nitrogen gas, which is fine).
