I plan to cbt soon and I was wondering if I should sort things out to get at least the burden of planning a funeral from my family's back. Unfortunately, I think that would raise many red flags, and would be too troublesome.

Is there a middle ground for this? For those who are planning to cbt as well, did you care for it?

considering the method i chose, organ donation is not a possiblity, and except from that i don't really care about what will happen to my body.

Is it normal that I dont want any funeral when i die? can people do that? just die without funeral
not sure if it's normal, but if I could choose not to have one it'd be great. I think you can make this wish of yours clear in your goodbye letter, no guarantee it would be followed tho.

at least in my country, because of covid, there haven't been many funerals so I guess I am lucky.
What is your method?

I don't want a funeral and I let my family know that in my goodbye letters. If they don't respect my wishes, who cares? I'll be dead anyway and they're the ones who will live with the regret of "oh, he didn't want to but we made a funeral anyway"

You can; You don't have to pay for a traditional funeral service, you can just have the person buried or cremated and then remember them in your own way. Obviously most people seem to opt for a funeral when they can afford it but I don't think it's really uncommon to not have one.

For me, I think those who are close to me will probably care more about how my funeral turns out than I do. If funerals are a way to help someone say their goodbyes, then maybe letting them choose what they think is best for it would bring them more comfort. That's just what I've been thinking about my own family, but it's a tricky topic. Hope you find something that works for you.

yes i will opt to not have a funeral and will definitely make it clear in my wish, but again no guarantee it would be followed because in my country funeral is the normal thing to do when people die

Direct cremation is a simple, dignified option in which your loved one is cremated without a funeral service or ceremony. ... Doctor's fees for cremation papers are payable in England & Wales if the death is not referred to a coroner.

costs £950 ,
i have stated in my will that i dont want any form of service and there is plenty cash to more than pay for it ,

I find the costs associated with death to be outrageous in my area. I prefer cremation and absolutely do not want a funeral/memorial. I would rather any and all money that would be spent on a burial/funeral go to a good cause. I have added this in my will.

I've written them in my note, I've also told my parents the instructions but they prob don't think I'm 100% serious bc they're used to me attempting ctb and just being pessimistic in general lol

I'm writing a few things in my note including that I don't want a funeral, but they will probably have one. funerals are for the living, so if my family wanna have one to make themselves feel better it's fine I guess.

You can specify in your will what you want to happen. You might also want to look into bequeathing your whole body, which has less picky requirements than organ donation.

My husband promised me last year that he would cremate me and take my ashes to the waterfall pool. But I doubt he will respect my wishes or keep his promise.

If he did, I'd wish him to take some of my ashes to our lake as well.

But he will not be allowed to hold a funeral for me, a. f. won't allow it.

Yes, I have. I'm atheist, so service must not reference religiosity, cremation to be carried out within 48 hours of death or release from morgue in event of autopsy. Body to be kept at home following its release, coffin is to be cardboard box so everyone can scribble a departing message to me, this is not to be transported by hearse, back of a transit or estate car will do me just fine. No flowers, donations only to PCRF (Palestine Children's Relief Fund). I have provided my eldest with a list of music I want played, I have also provided instructions that I want the occasion to be joyous and celebrate all my achievements. I do not want the pockets of funeral directors lined, I want my disposal to be a cheap as possible and if relatives feel uncomfortable with that they can increase their donation to PCRF. My eldest has said she will get some of my ashes made into a precious stones for her and her sibling, the remainder I want scattered on the North Yorkshire Moors an area that holds fond memories.

I'm trying to get an advance directive worked out so my bio family won't get their nasty hands on my corpse/have all the say in what happens to me. I want my s/o to have all the say but he won't have it because he believes we'll see humans put an end to death in our lifetime/doesn't see why I could possibly need it

I have everything detailed in my will and living will., I dont want a funeral, just to be cremated and that's it. No one would come to my funeral anyway as I have no friends and family where i am. The 2 people who care are halfway across the world and can't travel because of the controla virus hoax.

I'd donate my body to science to save any funeral costs. My grandpa did this when he died from cancer. The university came and got his body, and once he was done being used he was cremated. Didn't cost the family one dime. I'd like to go to a mental health study. Maybe my brain is the key to unlocking everything they need to know about mental health is how I see it.

I've written a note and even talked directly to my mother about this. I want to be cremated quickly, preferably no autopsy, no funeral, no obituary in the newspaper... I just want to be forgotten.

It's never too late to draft a will or living will. It's a normal activity to do since death can claim us at any time regardless if it's suicide or a drunk driver hitting you. My will states that in whatever locale that I die in, I'll be cremated and my ashes spread in the forest with no funeral or special rites given. No obits necessary and no newspaper mention.

Fuck coroners, autopsies, funerals, or even allowing my body to be a source of saprotrophic nutrition. What I really would like is to fly to Hawaii and do this at night without notice...:

I chose direct cremation. Everything is already arranged and paid for. My body will be taken directly from the place of death to the crematory. No ceremony, no coffin.

Everyone knows not to give me a funeral and to cremate me. I'd like to spread in a beautiful secluded place with water. Maybe a beautiful tree on top of the hill to. But if not that. The ocean will do.

Also sidenote: one of the reasons I choose cremation is if there's any chance of some walking dead type of stuff I can't be brought back haha. When I'm gone I'm gone forevaaaa

I'm already signed up as an organ donor and mentioned a lot of times that I want to be cremated. Beyond that, I don't really care. I don't have anything worth much, and I won't be able to know what my funeral is like or if I even have one because I'll be dead. Preferably I wouldn't want my family to waste the money on it, but if it'll make them feel better that's their choice.

would you mind sharing what you'd say? i got curious...
Changes depending on my mood tbh. When I was younger I wanted to do something like that book series the 39 clues and send people on a global treasure hunt. Now I'd probably just be more somber and say something like "Hey guys, its me, from beyond the grave. I chose to off myself because xyz. If you're here you're probably in my will. Not that I have much to dole out. Flattered anyone showed up. Cya."

I certainly fucking hope so because I would detest the people who would go against my wishes to not have a funeral..no wake, no obituary, no announcement..no "celebration of life" dinner (how laughable). I want none of it, I actively and vehemently am opposed to it for multiple reasons.
This is why I asked on another thread if it's possible to pen one's own living will without the help of a lawyer, discreetly. Still wondering if this is possible.
