Sarco is not coming.

Change my mind. The idea of Sarco was a nice way to bring attention to the need of a painless, fast, reliable method for those who want to terminate their lives.
But it won't ever be available for actual use. Maybe it will be used to replace the chemical methods within vad orgs. But even they won't allow people to use it without the medicalized evaluation process.

I fear that you're right, ultimately we'll have to really brutalise ourselves just to get a chance at ctb. Even when/if the Sarco is released, it will be hugely expensive and it will of course be restricted to the elderly. The tragedy of this world just keeps getting thicker and thicker, doesn't it.

Something like the Sarco just sounds too good to be true. I just cannot ever imagine it ever being avaliable for use in this pro suffering society where suicide is sadly so stigmatised. I hate how things have to be this way.

Wrong. In fact, the entire goal of the Sarco is to end with the medicalized model.

The long and tedious medical evaluation process is needed coz a doctor has to prescribe the N. With no need for N there is no need for any doctors or medicalized process. You will only need to prove that you are an adult of sound mind (with mental capacity to understand the consequences of your actions).

Actually, demedicalized VADs have already happened, like when @LetzteAusfahrt assisted suicide with his Nitrogen SCUBA setup, or the Dignitas study with Helium NRBs.​

So do you expect that vad orgs will allow any adult to walk into their offices, pay a fee with cash and ctb in a sarco without any consultation whatsoever with doctors?
Or do you expect people to buy large 3D printers and assemble the thing at home?

The prove of sound mind will initially be via a psychologist (which ONLY function will be to certify your mental capacity) and in the future it will be via an AI test.

Btw all of that has already been explained in the Sarco FAQ and in videos by Dr Philip Nitschke. He has already said that you won't even need to explain why you want to CTB.

The govt will step in and decide it knows what is best for you. By the time Sarco comes onto the scene, we will be old or have CTB'd.
