This sounds like filtering. where are you seeing all these recovery stories? On SS i only ever read about recoveries from cluster B/PTSD/mood disorder people who take meds, and usually didn't have problems dating in tge first place. Which makes perfect sense considering the nature of this site.

I go on other recovery sites too related to social anxiety, NEETdom and social skills issues, and usually if people recover, getting a gf happens *after* the general improvements associated with recovery. Which is the logical outcome. NEETs can't get gfs period because how tf will you meet girls if you don't leave the house?

Depending on what sites you're seeing the gf == recovery stuff you should be more suspicious of what people say. Sites about mental illness will have mentally ill people who sincerely believe in their warped view of the world. Imo sites with lots of people with body dsymorphia or "incels" will be the worst for this. Very sick and sometimes very delusional people log onto those echo chambers where their most problematic and harmful thinking patterns are reinforced and encouraged.

Since you said youve dated before, it proves there's nothing inherently wrong or unappealing about you that will doom you to perpetual loneliness. Getting a gf won't solve your problems at all, no matter how much mental gymnastics you want to do around it. It's the mental illness talking.

Thank you for taking this much of an interest in my life. Pretty good points for perhaps most people in my situation; knowledge of my own quirks and faults make me laugh at this but there's no way for other people to jump into my head so I still appreciate the effort.

These people might have problems that are unrelated to a lack of gf, when they get fixed they can then get a gf. I'm not like that.

I couldn't get a gf, due to being autistic, even when I had interest thrown my way in HS. I wasn't born a NEET, I became one due to the lack of "reward" (read: gf) from working/studying. I leave the house every day, btw. Gym, walks, whatever.
