Thank you for the info.
But can we take a moment and just think about how crazy that sounds , like 2 labs in the whole world? We know for a fact that N is also produced locally in either Peru or Bolivia - is this the second lab you're talking about?
You may have misunderstood that.
It is not being PRODUCED in Peru or Bolivia. It is sold in pharmacies there and those countries have little/no restrictions about who they sell to.
And it isn't crazy at all.
Have you not read about the most recent run on MonkeyPox-Vaccines?
Bavarian Nordic A/S, the only company with an approved vaccine for monkeypox, said it’s no longer certain it can meet demand and is talking to multiple production partners as cases rise across the world.
www.bloomberg.com
Only ONE company produces the specific vaccine (Bavarian Nordic in Denmark).
The USA pretty much bought up ALL of their existing stock and now they still have to figure out how to get the freeze dried powder from large vats reconstituted and filled into vials for usage.
Bavarian Nordic had been renovating/moving their production facility from Belgium to Denmark (afaik) when the Monkey Pox thing started in early summer and for a while there was
not a single lab/plant globally that could have jumped in and produced the vaccine.
Same thing.
It's a combination of
- having the technology
- having people trained (knowhow)
- owning the rights and patents
- having capacity in your production line
- having passed all quality inspections by your potential customer (countries)
