I have both but clearly I am not ready for either yet so thought experiments like this come to mind.

Yea I agree with that. A shotgun leaves a horrible mess and would traumatise your family even more.Definitely SN. It isn't the chance of surviving a shotgun shot, it's what the shotgun leaves you looking like that scares me. I know I'd be dead so what does it matter, but I would never want to put my family and friends through the thought of that image. SN is at least a bit more peaceful looking in the end.
That's kinda my fear, but you can't go wrong with a shotgun. I'm not really looking to fail or stick around when I go.I have both and a semi auto 9 mm. SN is my choice. Although success rates seem to be higher with firearms and the time-to-death more rapid and potentially more peaceful, I fear the potential damage I might incur surviving a gunshot wound more than that with SN. But mostly, I fear that I may inadvertently hurt someone else with a gunshot.

SN. You can survive shooting yourself with a shotgun.
It's very possible to survive that. I feel gun is the most foolproof, 90% of the failures are user-end.it's also been proven by many that you can survive using SN. No method is foolproof, unless it's carried out to specific rules. And we also have to bear in mind the strength of survival instinct, which can affect how thoroughly the act is carried out.
Yeah, sn and if you wake up shotgun to the mouth!SN. A gun is loud and a mess to clean up. Not a pretty corpse. SN, while not as quick, wouldn't wake up my family or neighbors, is less violent and won't less a mess. If I failed with a shotgun I could be permanently disabled and disfigured. Failed SN seems to have no permanent side effects
