As the title says....
One of the girls in art school that I was together with was honest about her depression and would show me paintings she made with black ink and her own blood from SH.
This is kinda fucked up to normal people, but I heard a saying 'Art is not supposed to be beautiful, it is supposed to evoke emotions'
Im into some weird experiments as an artist recently - white paint on black canvas etc. Just thought it would look really neat if I found a way to varnish blood and prevent it from flaking off. I mean theres a painter that uses her own sick to do art so there are obviously ideas far crazier than mine.

Yeah Im kinda unstable :)

When I was severely depressed in 2018, I'd write stuff with my own blood on notecards like worthless, death, pathetic etc.

One time when I was taking painting classes for my former Animation degree, my nose started bleeding and a few drops fell into something I was painting. I panicked at first but then I just decided to make that part dark red and after covering it up with more red paint there was no difference. The painting was still shitty!

There's a spray that you use to "set" art, I'm not an artist but I think you use it on chalk or pastels art. Maybe that could set your blood paintings & maybe even stop them from being smelly. I don't know - just an idea that occurred to me.

I've seen quite a few art pieces like that while browsing Pixiv. I'm not sure where all the harsh judgement is coming from. I get it.

Just... if you do decide to do that, be cautious about it. Maybe mix the blood with ink or red paint like your friend does. Otherwise, you might want to go overboard...

i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one who's had this idea. i'm not a very good painter, but i think it'd be fun.

i don't know how i'd get enough blood, though. maybe i've been cutting in the wrong places. i don't want to dilute the blood with water, because i think it'd be less pretty.

hiding them would be a pain in the ass, unless i use one of those tiny canvases, lol. it's not like i could write it off as paint, since blood and paint have such different consistencies.

do you have the name of the artist who paints with her own vomit (that's what sick means, right)?

the more i type, the more i realize this is fucked up, but i can't bring myself to care at this point.

And the vomit painter is Millie Brown. She was even hired by Lady Gaga once.

I can understand that some people would be repulsed by the idea but that seems like kind of a mean comment & you are not usually mean BipolarGuy, are you okay?
Actually I'm feeling a bit sensitive.
Having received my delivery today, things have got real.
I'm sat here in bed not crying my eyes out or anything, but tearing up.

But besides that, I think it is ok to tell people that they shouldn't be losing blood for the purposes of painting a picture.

What do you mean by "all the harsh judgement"? There's only one comment on this post that appears to be harsh!
I didn't want to start a flame war.

When I was in high school I did something to this effect during a manic episode that triggered SH, the end result was.. Fairly tame, all things considered. I usually bleed a good lot as well, though some of the process involved re-hydrating my wounds with water or baby-wipes. It ended up drying fine and didn't have any smell? Though I was using it on plain sketchbook paper as dry-brushing rather than full on painting, I'm not sure how a fabric canvas would react or preserve it.

I went to draw to calm myself down from the episode I was having, and that just sorta happened on impulse.

I know a fun game.

Let's share something that I really want to do with people on a forum on the internet. I know that this thing is really f***ed up to most people, but if anyone responds saying so this will make me a victim.

I'm not interested in starting a flame war either! That's why I called you out on your comment. There was literally ONE harsh comment & you implied that there was multiple harsh comments.
I didn't actually "@" him but I am concerned because he isn't usually harsh with his comments.
On this website we can & do "@" people when we are speaking to someone in particular. If you don't want to that's fine but don't go around telling other people that it's "best" not to do something that is a normal & regular thing to do here (especially since you're quite new here).
You stated that you didn't want to start a flame war yet that is exactly what you appear to be trying to do.

i'll be honest i've done it but i agree that its totally sick. i was not in my right mind.
I can relate - I was a bit out of control during those moments of temptation, wasn't thinking straight at all

In theory I think it's a neat idea, but in practice it probably wouldn't work. Then again, art isn't supposed to be practical.

Feel like you'd need a lotta blood for some art work. I think filling up an ink cartridge for an ink pen and worrying with it (poems or something) could last longer and be easier to work with and less messy

There's a song called Written In Blood by Bring Me The Horizon that goes 'It was written in blood on a fucking suicide note the night be he died'. I love the idea of writing my note in blood but

1. I'm not planning on writing a note other than an email to the police
2. If I was, I wouldn't want to traumatise my parents and friends even more with a bloody note
3. I don't know whether I'd have the guts to take out that much blood

But it's tempting nonetheless

I paint with blood pretty regularly. I tend to think of it as a form of watercolor - very similar techniques can be used. It will need to be preserved with either a matte spray or varnish to maintain color. It can also be mixed with things like acrylic gel medium.
