For those of you who use dating websites, what do you use and what do you use it for?

Like for example, I use Grindr and Tinder and I use it to find hookups and like potential friends w/benefits!

So I'm curious what other things there could be

Also be nice! If you think hookups are weird it's okay! Just don't be mean about it

I've tried dating websites, but I'm not personally a fan of them. It's like the two people who matched up with each other are forcing a connection. I like when I just meet people and a connection naturally occurs.

In the early 2000s dating sites were still passable. By which I mean there were actual women on them who wanted to actually meet men. Aside from one fix-up from someone at work, the only dates I ever had were from matchmaking websites in the late 1995 and early 2000s. Dates didn't go well, sometimes I knew why sometimes I didn't... but at least the women showed up.

Anytime I've tried since then, I either get no matches at all... or I match with people running some kind of scam, usually bitcoin or gold. It's crazy, Like a while back I was on Tinder just to see what I could see... and I lost count of the number of "women" who matched and had the exact same story. They were from another country, had come here by way of an uncle or grandfather to start their own "beauty business" and were also into bitcoin and gold and wanted to discuss investments. Just for fun I completely short-circuited one because they mentioned the "beauty business" so I immediately went into a spiel about my investments and "she" lit up like a Christmas tree. I then started copy/pasting from another match who was trying to sell me on something and let them talk to each other basically until I got bored and they had no idea I was doing it.

Tbf you don't need to be saying that you're down to fuck half the time because it's so full of people(usually cis dudes) that are ready to ask you if you're down lol, at least that's been my expeirence

But also some groups get more fetishized attention than others. My ex would get so many more chasers flocking to her because she's a trans women

This is real! I just don't go to events like that to really meet people face to face. I've been so tired of being cooped up and only going out when I work and also tired of not being able to have intimacy so dating apps have been okay for me like that, I don't use them to actually find something long term in terms of relationships tho

That is super crazy fr. I haven't had any encounters like that but then, I'm a transmasc 24 year old who has their job listed as fast food so, prolly not an ideal target for a scam like that
I am sorry that's been your experience tho, I think just some websites are hit or misses. Grindr had been a major miss for me up until a couple days ago when I met someone cute and cool and compatible for hookup stuff. It just depends I guess. As with anything

Now I just want aliens to brainwash my parents to accept me (maybe conveniently wire me some cash while theyre at it) and for God to drop a wife into my lap. Or maybe aliens can brainwash me to like men I'm tired lol

Not me but my daughter, she hooked up at my son, her brother's funeral that was a bit strange and now they're married and to add to the madness her wedding venue was where my son died, it was a weird day that one . Full of strange emotions.

Yea for me tinder was cool once because I met a girl there and we hooked up but aside from that it's so blugh, but like for different reasons that Grindr is blugh

I tried a lot of the dating apps: tinder, pof, e harmony, coffee meets bagel, hinge, bumpy, bumble. I use them to hopefully get a long term relationship. I've quit the apps though. I mainly used tinder, but after I got nothing, I decided I'm just going to go to group things to be around people and ctb next year. I've always been undesirable and that's not going to change with time.

I was only on a dating site once out of curiosity and boredom during a summer break if I remember correctly and I had no business being there since I was underaged/ not 18+

I have used those sites but in the end I realized that it's just for sex and that I wouldn't find anyone. Plus it's pretty shallow. It's like going to the supermarket choose, get chosen and if I saw you I don't remember anything.

Also, I felt bad and used by the other person.
Maybe the concept I have is different from the one others have. Or I don't know how to love. I don't know
I realized that these apps are not for me.
