I've been here helping so many souls, and the worst part is that a lot of people in their real lives won't miss them for the right reasons, or won't truly know. They're stuck holding back that pain and feeling and letting people know what they went through, some not even leaving letters. SS is the only place where their stories were told, and if we could have a memorial/pinned thread that we could immortalize people for however long this website stays up... I'm sure it would mean a lot to people.

Including myself. I can't tell anyone the true reasons I CTB, and even if I did, they wouldn't understand. People whohated me would cry at my funeral saying they loved me.

Please. Please. It would mean so much before my passing, and the passing of so many others if there was some way we could etch them into this site's history.

If worried about the backlash, maybe we could make it so that you have to have a certain number of posts and time on the site to see it.

Thank you.

I like this idea and as far as information, we could just have the username, date of passing, and maybe some eulogy/memories/remarks in that page. This way the privacy of the person is respected and the other users can see who have been (confirmed) to have passed. The only challenge to this is the logistics and efforts required to do so.

We could have it managed by members, and slightly monitored by admins. So, if it gets reported for graffiti like a wiki, its just a short cleanup.

The idea of the memorial is good, although some members have objected to being placed on it when we had it mentioned before. Some just want to pass into obscurity, it's not what they deserve, but their choice.

So, the way I see it this entire board is our memorial. Wrote it in the Calliew Lewis thread before, that I see this entire board as our stories, feelings and thoughts. Our legacy. Which is important. We were here once.

And it works, once in a while people will dig out old threads, read or like them, when the stories or people have long since moved on.

Maybe the memorial could be an optional thing. When people create a good-bye thread, they could say whether or not they want to be on the memorial thread, but if they don't happen to mention it, it could be assumed that they wanted to be left off of it as well.

But you make a good point though. I had not read that thread yet, so I searched for it because I wanted to take a look. That was an awesome post that you shared on there, but sadly I can only give it a heart once. :aw:

Maybe the good-bye threads could be our own personal memorials and everything else we say and do here would be the things we are remembered for.

Thank you, much appreciated. Didn't assume to speak for everyone, but I think a lot of us do in fact feel the same about this place. Too bad there are people who think they know better than we ourselves.

Mind you, am not against the idea at all, I like it. Stan proposed the same, and some people objected to it for aforementioned reasons. Another thing someone suggested was to make an extra section for "goodbye threads", now that's a really sweet idea as well. Sometimes they go under in the clutter, and this would prevent that and a place where one could read up on them. Others felt it might seem like we glorify ctb to the outside, but really all we do here is wrong to them anyhow, so who cares, right?

I think something like this would be nice to have. Maybe a bit to manage like some have said but it sounds like a really great idea.

The idea is nice, but when pro-life news outlets would show up (and they looooove peeking in), they'd be like "evil suicide forum takes pride in how many people it killed!"
The thread or page could be hidden to only members on here and even then, to certain members, like members who have been with the forum for x amount of time with y amount of posts, and other criteria. This way, the guests (pro-lifers) peeking in won't see anything and those that immediately join won't see it either (until after a certain amount of time as a member, certain amount of posts, and etc.).

Yes but you'd have to be a member for a while to see the posts, and maybe a pop up explanation saying it say made BY the community!
