I think it can be positive for all members, because there is often a mix of people still on the verge, suffering deeply yet still hesitating about CTB, others seems to mainly want help, they really want to live but are desperate because their problems seem (rightly or wrongly) unsolvable to them, for those people, especially the ones who are going through a rough patch but seem to have problems that they can work it, it's better for them to have people listen to them, without patronizing them, for those people sometimes it's hard to just help with a method or an advice to CTB because their message seems really full of hesitation, yet there are others who have made their mind, only want help CTB and have to go skim through a lot of threads that aren't about methods.

I think that it's better to separate the two, it may allow people to both talk candidly about CTB methods without wondering if they aren't tacitly encouraging or precipitating the suicide of someone who seems torn and hesitating, and it will allow people who only seek talk about methods and advices to CTB to find them directly and in a higher quantity and concentration.
