I'm not against pro life posts as long as they're honest. If I think things can get better for someone then I'll say but I won't say that if I don't. I think the honesty starts with the poster though. It can be hard to know what they want to hear. If they aren't honest then if they don't like what they get back they have no one to blame but themselves

"God has a beautiful plan for your life" annoys me deeply. Maybe God exists and He does, but why should I suffer because of that?

Apparently God let's children starve to death and die in horrific ways to teach people lessons, so you may just be a lesson for someone else. Gods will may be for you to commit suicide etc who knows

All pro lifers tend to assume everyone is better off alive than dead. Until they stop with that bull shit assumption I am not going to take them seriously.

"Life is what you make of it"

Tbh every post by a pro-lifer is bad. It just never makes sense or help anything

Pretty much. What important Ian you staying alive. Your suffering etc is irrelavent

Do they though? Or are they (rightly or wrongly) just saying what they think that person wants to hear?

I checked out that thread and didn't actually hate it. As someone said there the thread got derailed early by some ignoramus making the "it's the coward's way out" argument. But most people on the thread showed their disgust at his remarks. Cleary there are some hardcore prolifers on that thread, but there was also some good information shared (studies about rate, gender differences, etc.) Still, it's clear our community is the place for me.

Gotta love how people assume everyone is obsessed with sex. I couldn't care less about it.

It is like the quote @Trashcan posted in this thread says:

"The so-called 'psychotically depressed' person who tries to kill herself doesn't do so out of quote 'hopelessness' or any abstract conviction that life's assets and debits do not square. And surely not because death seems suddenly appealing. The person in whom Its invisible agony reaches a certain unendurable level will kill herself the same way a trapped person will eventually jump from the window of a burning high-rise. Make no mistake about people who leap from burning windows. Their terror of falling from a great height is still just as great as it would be for you or me standing speculatively at the same window just checking out the view; i.e. the fear of falling remains a constant. The variable here is the other terror, the fire's flames: when the flames get close enough, falling to death becomes the slightly less terrible of two terrors. It's not desiring the fall; it's terror of the flames. And yet nobody down on the sidewalk, looking up and yelling 'Don't!' and 'Hang on!', can understand the jump. Not really. You'd have to have personally been trapped and felt flames to really understand a terror way beyond falling."
wow, that's fucking brilliant. He got the nature of our dilemma exactly. thanks for reposting that contribution

Probably the shit my biomom posts. She she posts stuff about how she believes in banning abortion and is against the right to die - even for Brittney Maynard. What makes it personal is that she imposed life on me and yet wants to keep the suffering going.

Holy fuck. The Ronald Reagan one can't be true. Please tell me he didn't actually say that. I'm laughing so hard in a "what in the legitimate ass?" kind of way.

The quote that goes something like, "life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain" makes me want to throw up everything I've ever eaten.

Also, not a post, but when I was 14 and suicidal, the ER physician actually told me that I was "just clinically depressed", and that all I needed to do was "go back to school, go for a walk and drink an Ensure twice a day" and I'd be fine... because that's definitely how clinical depression works. /s

Damn dude. Some "professional" she was. These people are nutjobs though and though. But as long as they got a college degree they will always be taken seriously.

I'm just laughing at the typo "there's so many adventurers that have yet to be bad."
Overall though, yeah not the worst thread. Started really bad though

Too many. The religious ones are usually the worst, though I have also got;

"But I care." (Complete stranger)

"But I love you." (Complete Stranger)

"Life gets better"

"Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem" (Old friend of mine)

Or the ones that virtue signal and just give you the suicide hotline with some corny quote.

And a lot of the time your friends are actually too busy with their lives to give a shit about what you do with yours 24/7, but sure I'll give you brownie points for just copy pasting a hotline that just calls the gestapo on you.

We don't have a proper independent pro-life movements, but let me share some quotes from my real life experience. Please enjoy this one.

1. "The reason for your depression is your long hair and depressive music you listen to" (Some priest in a local church. 2013)

Well thank you, man ! I was so freakin' blind until now. I though my life sucks at all, but it is just that fiendish metal music and my appearance. You are doing a great job standing here and help people by telling them some bullsh*t.

2. "It's the worst thing you can do [ctb]. Other people suffer too, but it always gets better for them. Wait for tomorrow and see for yourself." (random pal. Probably in 2014)

I did it. I've been waiting for my entire life. I also did something useful and tried a lot of things to make everything better. What's your next argument ?

Oh wow, that's frustrating
Random pal seems to have had a... very limited view of the world
Priest I don't even know what to say, I'm just curious to know what his exact line of reasoning there would've been if pushed

What an awful thread. That ted1 guy is an arrogant prick. I couldn't read past his post. The condescension makes me ill.
You can tell the only life that person has lived is one of wealth, comfort, and blissful, willful, ignorance.
