I have no idea what this thread is about, but I have been reading through it. I was trying to quote the person whiterabbit was responding to as well, but couldn't figure it out haha. But, this is something that has been on my mind for a while now, and I stopped coming to this site for a while because of it. I think there is a big difference in perspective of suicide compared in different age groups, places in life, effort (I know no one wants to hear that), and reason for ctb. WhiteRabbit is right in that the world isn't necessarily this big scary place we should all want to leave. People find reasons for staying and that is their prerogative. It is all perspective and people who want to commit suicide are not necessarily in the right. If it wasn't for my illness, I would LOVE to stay alive. Compared to living with this physical pain every day, every other problem in my life seems trivial. If molesting children bothers me so much, I would start to actively do something to help even if it is volunteering at a place that attempts to prevent such things rather than sitting in my room complaining about how bad the world is. I don't like the treatment of Hispanic students, particularly males, in the American school system, so I did something about it--I teach at the middle school level, research, got a Phd to open doors of places I can volunteer or work at, and plan on taking it further next year regardless of my illness. I see so many immature posts on here because people want to believe that wanting to die is right and should be fostered. I responded to a silly post about the Bill of Rights and suicide. I didn't respond to the reply because it was silly. We can all want to die, and although I still firmly hold the belief that euthanasia should be legal with restrictions of course, I know it is important to stay grounded and not just believe or say silly things that make me feel better about myself and about wanting to kill myself. I know that WhiteRabbit and are here for similar reasons and that is our health. When it's your health, you get a different perspective of life. Even with all its bad, there is so much beauty in it. That's not to say that YOU should think the same, but then let's all be adults and agree that perspectives are valid without trying to convince everyone that the world is bad.
