"We are determined to do all we can to stop these sites. They prey on the vulnerable and depressed and encourage them life isn't worth living"

if this place gets shut down i'll be distraught, i have seen NO encouragement here and no videos!!! no one here asks for that sort of upsetting stuff. this has upset me reading that article, i feel for his mother, its horrible i know. but this site has shown nothing of the sort, no videos, nothing!!!

its like your post @pompey1999 doesn't help these situations, asking where you can get it from, no one even knows what he has taken.

i've been where you are asking how to do this and that. and you know what NO one here was encouraging anything.
its such a shame if people pretend to be suicidal, sorry im not saying youre pretending, its just weird. all of this is weird too me.

It is most likely SN based on the description. I believe this article has been linked here before as well. But that might me a theoretical price - thats probably the price you buy if you are a legal purchaser. You might have to pay quite a bit more to illegally import

Yes I believe they are talking about SN, 'food production', the cheap cost, stating that it is mainly only sold to universities and companies, the fact it caused a hazmat response from emergency services...

lol that is so pussified that SN requires hazmat response.... yeh its deadly but unless the people are literally eating out the guys guts how the hell is it going to harm them? I believe SN is not severely toxic on contact to the skin, no?

There was a case in the UK where a guy had an epileptic fit or something and was floating face down in a pond in a park that was knee deep.

There were police cars, ambulances and fire fighters around the pond in droves and none of them would go in the water to save him because they hadn't done a risk assessment.

He drowned.

It's utterly pathetic.

Typical LEO very self serving. If the dude was drowning in a pond any chemical that was in him would be so dilute it could never damage the offices unless it was like straight up nerve gas

Could it be possible that it was Sodium Azide or that they thought it was such? Just basing that on the fact that they had a hazmat response. Azide I believe is toxic to those who come into contact with it.

It sounds like SN, SN is super cheap. I know it's harder to get in the UK but in other countries it's pretty easy.
I got 100g for 5$ which is probably around the same price

He's listed on the fixthe26 website and it states SN. Funny how the media try to avoid naming it but this anti-suicide website gives all the details? Not very anti-suicide of them.

It's infuriating how they completely neglect to consider why he did what he did, instead they want to jump straight to blaming this or that. Banning SN won't magically stop people wanting to kill themselves.

They did this with co-proxamol or whatever it was called. 20% of Uk suicides were because of it, so they banned it like that was going to magically solve the problem. Instead people found more gruesome ways to leave the planet.

They are idiots.

Yes Joe Nihill was an SS members who took SN and CTB left suicide notes saying his family had nothing to do with his death then saying he couldn't be saved but to close SS down to save people, I read his autopsy and the coroner investigation sent 3 reports one to the UK Health Secretary one to the Family and one to the SN supplier who was the UK's main seller on e-bay.

Cheers

Yes exactly
"Let's blame an online forum so we don't actually have to address the real societal issues that cause people to ctb in the first place!":smiling:
And it's also a lot cheaper and convenient for governments to try shut down a website instead of actually investing in mental health services...
It frustrates me so much how people(in all aspects of life) always just want to fix symptoms of a problem instead of considering the actual CAUSE of said problem

Totally agree. I think it's a way (both for relatives and society) to avoid to blame themselves. They simply pretend to be blind about the reasons.
I won't try to guess what his motivations for suicide were, and I won't jump to blaming anyone or anything, because I think that's difficult to do that concretely, even if I knew the details about his life. I do think it's clear by now that we can't completely stop people from becoming suicidal, not with our current understanding of the brain. Sure, we have ADs and some other techniques, but right now they're woefully inadequate if you ask me. I'm not encouraging anyone to avoid these treatments because I've heard success stories, but there are so many problems with current treatments including but not limited to: side effects, lengthy time for response to treatment, and treatment not being effective enough, or effective at all.

With the brain being the most complex structure in the known universe, it's not clear if we'll ever master the brain to the extent that we can truly eliminate suicide. Given that a silver bullet to this problem is not around the corner, I think we really need to focus on the philosophy of suicide. Is it actually wrong, bad, or immoral to commit suicide? If it is, why? Are we not individuals each entitled to self-determination? What is the greater good that is achieved if we thwart people's will to end their own lives? I think it's safe to assume that most suicidal people don't want to be suicidal, but that's surely not universal. What if someone is suicidal and there is 100% effective treatment, but they don't want it, and would rather remain suicidal? Are they wrong to refuse the treatment? If you ask me, no they're not.

This is surprising and kind of disheartening, to see that he placed all the blame on this place. Not to be callous, but my sympathy has dropped a little (yeah, that's callous - sorry). Maybe this place made things worse for him, but I think he's wrong to imply that the same is true for everyone else. I can say with regards to my own experience that this place hasn't done me any wrong whatsoever, it has only been a source of relief. Did he not choose to visit this place of his own accord? He seems to be implying that he was somehow coerced into ctb, or became addicted to this place like it's a drug or something...it's odd. However, I am a proponent of 'no free will' so I do think it's plausible that he became 'trapped' here, like a smoker may be trapped in the habit of smoking. But to blame his demise on this site still feels wrong to me.
