The parang was bought as replacement for the kukri but it's shit. The kukri is actually pretty ancient and has been my go to workhorse for chopping all sorts of crap for years. It just slices through everything, though the grip is uncomfortable. Knives are tools to me, never weapons.
I am trained to fight with a bastard sword though.
