No, the letter is just a morbidly ironic coincidence that I found noteworthy.
My accounts aren't really that valuable for anyone, because I am a nobody. But I did hear that accounts of some well-known people that made posts about war got hacked. Don't have any guarantees though.
God how did a foreigner end up here and more importnantly why hasn't he fled yet?

I would like to know where you are, I think that going to a nearby country like Poland is the safest thing, I don't want to be fatalistic, but I am worried that if Ukraine falls, the Ukrainians will be cruelly treated by the Russians or treated as prisoners of war

Simply Alex wanted to do a "reckless feat" in showing his audience what is happening first hand... 3 doritoes later he is asking for help to get out of the Ukraine. I hope her stupidity doesn't cost him his life.

You're not being fatalistic, you're being realstic, sadly. I would prefer not to disclose the exact city if that's okay, but I am in the East, where the war is happening. There are currently Russian troops to the West from where I am and since we don't know where exactly going to Poland (or any other country that is not attacking us at the moment) would require risking going past these Russian troops. I just found out that a bus with people trying to flee my city was shot down by Russian army :'(

Oh well, I wish him luck. With amount of other people trying to get out of Ukraine that is not going to be an easy fit. Reckless indeed.

The year is 2022. The video stream shows Russia's representative in UN claim that Russian army is not a threat to civilians. The small screen in the corner of the stream shows a dead 6 year old girl with a gunshot wound and then an elderly woman that lost her foot because shelling caught her on the street. I suppose aliens did it.

There is absolutely no excuse for this. Hypothetical threats are not an excuse for actual unimaginable violence taking place. Unrelated conflicts elsewhere in the worlds are a reason to stop those conflicts and not start MORE was somewhere else. Even evi Nazi governments are not an excuse for this - go after the evil army, go after the politicians, but do not shoot the civillians, do not shell cities. War is hell for everyone involved, no one wins it, no one involved ever recovers from it, war is pure, absolute evil. Not just this one, all wars that ever happened and continue to happen, there are no "righteous ones". I am not clapping and cheering when Russian soldiers are killed even if their army is shelling my city and can murder my loved ones, I still feel profound sadness that it had to end this way for them and endless compassion for their loved ones about to get terrible news at home (if the news will get to them at all, the Russian army "suffers no losses" along with not threatening civilians). If I don't make it to the day this is over, I'm glad that modern technology allows me to leave this message to the world.

Sorry for the preachiness.

did you manage to flee? Or do you need to get in contact with people that are volunteering for Ukraine?
There are some groups that have been opened on other social media for that:
a Polish group:
A Romanian group:

If you post about your situation in these groups, they should be able to direct you toward someone that can get you out
This might be helpful too:

If your contact them via chat, they answer immediately and give you info on how to evacuate

This is a good point that maybe gets overlooked when people are cheering on Russian casualties. Many of them were lied to / conscripted and don't want to be there. Of course I still do want Ukraine to succeed and maintain its independence, but it's a tragedy for everyone involved, all to satisfy a bloodthirsty dictator's ego. As far as I can tell, no one wants this war except for Putin. Truly sick the level of terror he has created here.

Thanks for the updates @Nessie. The way you are handling this is commendable. I really hope you make it through this safely. Everyone at SS is pulling for you!

No, I'm still here. I've donated blood today, however little this is helping...Plus I'm too chicken to flee. A bus of people that were trying to flee was shot down by Russian army and burned down this morning. A horrible, horrible fate.
The facebook links don't seem to work for me :notsure: Thank you for trying to help anyway.

What's happening in Kharkiv is a genocide. From today on anyone defending Putin should be kicked out. Not kidding, they cannot be allowed to pollute our beloved forum and share the same air with us.

My blood has begun to boil on seeing the atrocities and war crimes the cowards are inflicting on the hapless civilians. This is a genocide as I've said all along. It's being perpetrated by the bloodthirsty tyrants of two countries, Russia and Belarus on the civilians of Ukraine.

I know the Russkie war playbook, I've observed them for a long, long time, right from the Chechen genocide perpetrated by Poo-tin (💩 -🥫) way back when he wasn't even President. The scoundrel went on to do the same in Syria, and he's repeating the same on the Ukrainian people now. The Russkie soldiers are basically cowardly bullies, they can only win any war or battle by committing genocide and heinous war crimes, and they only fight against much weaker opponents, never dare take on the strong ones.

The Russkies will never fight against the Americans or Chinese, or NATO for that matter. The well-trained & equipped professional American forces will make mincemeat of the Russkie conscripts, criminal thugs (Kadyrov's Chechens), mercenary dogs (Wagner group) and their ilk that make up the Russkie forces in any conflict. Nor will the Russkies dare take on the PLA of China, which has become a modernised & impressive fighting machine. The cowardly Russkies always look for someone much smaller and weaker than them to bully.

The only sensible way to deal with any bully is to give the creature a bloody nose, so that the coward never dares bully again. It's the same with cowardly Poo-tin and his Russkie bullies. The bastards must be given a bloody nose, both on the battlefields in Ukraine and in terms of their crashing economy. The Russkie mafiocratic system as a whole must pay a very steep price for this genocide being perpetrated by them.

You know that I proudly & unwaveringly support Ukraine & the heroic Ukrainian people in your righteous & courageous struggle to exist as a nation and as a people, and I harshly condemn the barbaric Russian invaders and the one man who is responsible for all of this, Poo-tin (💩 -🥫) the cowardly pig.

Why am I doing this? Is it because of an ethical need to support the victims of oppression and condemn the barbaric oppressors? Of course, a big yes! Is it because I love the ideals and values that civilised societies stand for, and despise those that authoritarian tyrannies stand for? Yes, indeed! Is it because I feel that Ukraine would be better off as a full EU member state than as a pathetic puppet of Russia (like Belarus)? Well, that's for Ukrainians to decide for yourselves, but if you ask me, it's a yes again. Is that all? There is one more big reason why I'm so vocally supporting the Ukrainian nation & people - I understand Poo-tin well.

I keep telling everyone that Poo-tin is the Hitler of our times, and that he must be stopped at all costs, for the benefit of not only the rest of the world and humankind as a whole, but also for the Russian people themselves. Few people seem to understand Poo-tin. Others are still asking questions like whether he is insane or not when he threatened to nuke the world. All I tell them is to look at history. History repeats itself.

Poo-tin is indeed the Hitler of our times, and he has already set into motion the events that could lead to WW III. In fact, Poo-tin set those events rolling long back in 2008, when he attacked Georgia, invaded & occupied Abkhazia & South Ossetia, regions of the sovereign nation of Georgia. And he did it again when he attacked Ukraine in 2014, invaded & occupied Crimea and parts of Eastern Ukraine. Now the satanic scumbag has made it clear that he does not recognise the sovereignty of Ukraine at all, and he has even denied the right of Ukrainians to exist as a people.

Do you think he is going to stop if he gets his wish? No, he certainly won't! He is just like Hitler, and suffers the exact same rare mental illness that afflicted Hitler during WW II. Both are megalomaniac mass-murderers who believe they have become invincible. He will keep doing more & more of the same evil things. Maybe even worse things. Other nations & peoples are terrified that he is going to come for them next. And rightly so! He will do so, once he has achieved his goal in Ukraine. He should not be allowed to achieve his goal in Ukraine.

Poo-tin has to be stopped, period. It's not an option at all. He simply has to be stopped, for the good of humankind as a whole, including the Russian people themselves.

The following is an article that tells it as it is. I claim to understand Poo-tin well, but the interviewee Fiona Hill understands him even better, way better than I do. She speaks plainly, and hits the nail right on the head. Poo-tin is indeed the Hitler of our times. It may be a scary read, but she is just describing Poo-tin as he is

HI! I was born in the U.S. and my side came from Germany, and I have always had the same problem. I have gotten used to, over the decades, just pronouncing my last name when I go somewhere, instead of having them stumble.

100% with and the same as you on this one.

The one thing that I LOVE about the U.S. is, overall, the culture mixing. I can remember so many times, used to travel for work up to 40 weeks a year, at airports, hotels, etc, running into others who would ask me about my name, and we would get in a discussion about where they came from, and it was so COOL!! to be able to meet and experience that. I will always remember and cherish this aspect.

I say the aspect of overall because I have run into people here in the U.S. who are narrow minded and the like and it is so sad. We are all the SAME on this ENTIRE planet. Each soul has hopes, and dreams.

You are an awesome American and Ukrainian person. 100% for real, LOVE having you here as it makes me feel as if we are all ONE.

Sending you lots of hugs, beautiful blue skies and a great rest of this week.

There was a misunderstanding so I want to clarify - I am in Ukraine, but not in Kyiv. I would be offline by now if I was in Kyiv or Kharkiv. There is no war action inside my city, only around it, and occassional shelling. So I'm safe for now.
Shit, never thouhgt "occassional shelling" would be something I would ever describe as "safe". But that's the reality we live in now...

500 thousand already left the country. I'm not religious but I'm wishing Ukraine the best luck in the world. Hope they don't reach Ukraine, I never watched the news in ages but really following the situation there now. Why do people kill each other like this, they gained their independence so long ago. Now even children are dying also, saw an old lady holding on to her cat crying. Teens with their tablets following all, they are 60km from Kiev. Why Europe hasn't sent any troops there? Because they are afraid Russia's nuclear arsenal. Even in Russia brave thousands of protesters. Most being arrested. My heart goes to you. Sigh

It's all because of the megalomaniac mass-murdering monster occupying the Kremlin. He clearly said that he does not recognise Ukraine's sovereignty, he even went so far as to deny the Ukrainians' right to exist as a people.

Why Europe hasn't sent any troops there?

They don't even have to send their troops as such if they are afraid. President Zelenskyy has officially started the International Foreign Legion for the Territorial Defence of Ukraine, and Ukrainian embassies and border posts have started receiving applicants.

All it would require is for a few units of the best crack commandos from NATO countries suddenly deciding to retire voluntarily en masse, their commanders immediately accepting their early retirement, and for them to turn up the very next day at Ukraine's borders for enlistment in the International Foreign Legion as volunteer fighters with previous military combat experience.

I just cannot understand why they are refusing to do even such a simple thing.

Exactly, cause they are afraid of the nukes the Russians have, if they had no nukes the story would be completely different. Ukraine wanted to become part of the EU immediately but it's not that simple, it would take years of talks for that to happen. Wish I was powerful to sign that EU paper. But still, nukes. We don't wanna be hit by nukes, America is not even caring about them or Europe and we helped them so much in their fake wars. They don't wanna belong to Russia anymore. Period. They are a sovereign country fighting with e the little weapons they have and cocktails Molotov. Brave people. I dunno if you watched but this is going on since 2012. There's a Netflix documentary about it. Not sure if it's available in your country. Long like Ukraine. EU can't take a country that is at war. That lady with the cat at a shelter and the children brought tears to my eyes.

My heart goes out to you OP, and all the people caught in the middle of this awful conflict. As an actual Ukrainian experiencing this war in real life, I would have so many questions I'd love to ask! If I hadn't decided a few days ago not to weigh in on, or discuss anything to do with this war. There are a lot of emotions and mass-hysteria at the moment.

I really hope that you and your loved ones can stay safe and get through this, and that freedom from war, and a better life awaits all the Ukrainian and Russian people alike. Keep us updated.

Putin has now destroyed Russia, whether he knows it yet or not. The world is forever changed and the universal international stand against him and this kind of action is a new thing for our planet, in a new age where social media, globalization, 6 degrees of connection mean average joes thousands of miles away care and have a say. Much of what has happened has been lead by governments, but actually forced by citizens who have made it clear if the politicians dont stand up they will be gone in their own countries.

At this point the questions then are how long can Ukraine hold off against the hordes, will Russians finally lead a coup or revolt against Putin(the only way I see Ukraine not being taken over), and will the unified nations of the world have the nerve to hold brutal sanctions on Russia for years to come. Putin has likely become unhinged and does actually give us the real risk of nuclear war due to his massive ego and likely early onset dementia or something. But the reality is this is a watershed moment, that so far has reflected very well on the world and in Europe especially 👏🏻

At this moment, the continued resolve, determination, and heavy handed response by the world has and will chill the thoughts of any other aggressive nation from attempting something like this for a very long time. I have no doubt it has scared China.

The true hope is that some higher up in the Russian government sees the imminent destruction of Russian interest that Putin is determined to be the cause of, and that things are now so bad for Russia and decides he must act and removes Putin from power. The second hope is the army becomes so desperate they begin to revolt.

The third and weakest hope is somehow Ukraine score a brutal victory when Russia throws all they have at them. 🤞🏻🙏🏻

@Judah hey. War-wise I'm OK. There was some REALLY BIG explosion in the distance tonight. It was on a horison but it could be heard from so far away and appeared so massive I thought we were already nuked for a second. Don't know what it was, not on the news anywhere. Not a nuke though, or Internet and electricity would already go bye-bye. And also a long ass air raid. But other than that things are okay, no troops in the city or massive destruction close by as far as I know.

I am really not feeling well though. I would've already call an ambulance in normal circumstances, if it was a thing that you do for anything except for cases when you've got a limb torn off. But no one has the resources to help the mundanely sick now, unfortunately, there are people with limbs torn off out there. Might try to buy meds in the morning, but the chemistries are more likely emptied out and have lines a lot longer than what I can handle, so not much hope. Kinda sucks frankly. Everything feels super hopeless at the moment.
Thank you for your kind words, everyone. Love you all
