You're actually raising a very interesting point about the television. I've looked into the statistics and analytics of support for the war (or "special operation" as they call it) and for the president in Russia, and regardless of whether both of these are hugely overstated in the statistics either by the means of falsification or because people give answers that they believe are expected from them to avoid trouble, there is still a very interesting trend in these stats. Pretty much in all current and historic conflicts where statistics are available, the biggest force supporting wars, revolutions and other violent endeavors are yong males (18-30), and the people that are most likely to oppose the war are the old folks that usually resent any kind of change and instability and just want to live out the rest of their lives in peace. But this is absolutely not like this in Russia - the percentage of people supporting the war and the president consistently grows along with the age of respondents, with the youth supporting it the least, and the most support coming from males aged 65+. So pretty much the less likely people are to be tech savvy enough to circumvent the censorship and access alternative information sources, the more they support the state and the war. And maybe Russia has a better future that it's very depressing current state.

Yes, there is a law. 15 years jail time if you're a media personality (the average sentence for murder in Russia is 13 years!), 3-10 if you're an average joe spreading "misinformation". So far they arrested people for protesting, for social media posts, for re-posts, even for phone conversations in public. The censorship is very extreme.

So, all in all, yes, I do think it is credible that at least some can fall for "the big lie" and after that they tend to double down due to psychological factors (in-group pressure, cognitive dissonance, etc.). I wish I could find it, but a while back there was a Russian-speaking person on Twitter who wrote a long thread all about this very thing, breaking it down how it works.

Why is this so? Tech savviness and access to truthful information can only explain it partly. There is something much deeper here.

indeed, many russians still believe that it is all staged, because their television is showing them only the few videos that can be manipulated to support their propaganda.
For this reason I've been collecting videos that show unquestionable proofs.

I've made one video that shows all the proofs of one specific casualty where a civilian was shot by a BMD, including geolocation, maps views, etc..
If I had to make statistics, I published it in 1 comment in ria, and in 1 day I received 400 views.
Only 3 or 4 people started bothering me with their offensive language (it's a bit hard on me to receive so much love).
I don't know whether the other 396 watched it carefully. But the fact that they clicked on it is already a sign that they want to know.

I've been trying to connect with people doing similar things, but I've not been successful so far.
Any help or suggestion is appreciated :)

Not very familiar with it.
But I'm in many telegram channels used by hackers and opposition. If there was something on the darknet, I would have found it.

There's no need to go on the darknet when it is still possible to share videos on vk & co. The initiative must be done from outside Russia, so that there are no dangers of being imprisoned.
Watching a video from the conflict is not considered a crime yet; supporting and sharing it yes.

I know... I've interacted with @AnnyMyr in 2 threads & they refuse to acknowledge that the Russian Army is targeting Ukrainian civilians. If murdering 21,000+ civilians in Mariupol alone doesn't constitute genocide, I don't know what does...

I think the best way to handle trolls is to act like they're not there. They eventually give up and return the bridge they crawled from under.
