"Fagot" is a pejorative term to refer to homosexual men, however, in Venezuela it is often used as a replacement for "friend". In addition, it is used to refer to any negative action that is not related to sexual preference.

If someone is late "that fagot is always late"; if someone tries to take advantage of a situation, "don't be a fagot, you're not going to screw me"; if someone is a gossip, "what a gossipy guy, that's fagots."

The excessive use of the term to refer to innumerable behavioral defects ends up attributing a word that culturally refers to the homosexual. Knowingly or unknowingly, this is internalized and normalized homophobia in our culture.

Another example would be. "My friends are really cool faggots, but you, what you are is a great faggot incapable of understanding it."

It's time for men to stop calling themselves "faggots"

I didn't say it was a good idea either, believe me, where I come from they use the word fagot so much that I don't know when they call me that anymore out of empathy, contempt, friendship or hate

Yup, where I grew up, it was pato this, pato that. Or of course pato sucio. Funny how many turned out to be gay or bi...
good lord. you both sound like abuse victims sympathizing with your abusers.

and yes, i know, you're going to say "im not a victim, i've just got harder skin"

fact is, neither of you have "harder skin". Your both too scared to stand up for yourselves IRL but you'll morph into keyboard kickboxers when it comes to reddit and twitter. (only to defend the mindset of the people that fucked with you your whole life)

That's crazy. I can hang out with a group of gay and trans people all night, and that word doesn't even come up. In the us, it's definitely used as a pejorative, even among hispanics.

I wasn't gay or bi in hs, So it wasn't a direct attack on me. The racial stuff was, constantly. But I gave it right back.

Here we are referring to the stupid things that we Latinos do with our own language, that is why it is one of the most difficult languages for English speakers to learn

stupid fucks do/say stupid things - only the label changes from time to time. the only therapy is humor. but some people have their heads too deep up their asses.
it's crazy how words get weaponized more and more.

i don't even know why i am posting this - i seem to be pretty bored atm. ^^

at least there is a new season of curb your enthusiasm.

edit: people really should smoke more weed or take shrooms and do less coke and alhohol.
and rich people and politicians should be obligated to do therapy so the might not overcompensate so much and terrorize the whole planet with their stupid shit <end of rant>

It's called "woke" because the thought leaders behind it noticed too many people becoming "aware" - "wise" really - to certain underlying realities. I find the people vaguely referred to by someone else as from "Britain and France", "Oxford", "Fabians" to be the organizing principle of the sick history of this planet. Don't forget Franckfurt. Then comes U Chicago. Then - from supposed left to warmongering right - the neocons and neoliberal "oligarchs". I do hate them. They know who they are. They suffer from a mental illness that poses an existential threat to humanity...including to themselves.

They've certainly damaged many a product of mixed race. Like they give a shit. When the same people preaching for open borders and group hypnosis styled "tolerance" with people literally getting "triggered" over half a century and counting of "inclusion" that never is are the most exclusionary people on the planet with a reputation for extreme racism that is routinely demonstrated in their god-given land, it starts to make a bit more sense. Fuck new left lackeys.

The glowing quatic wea
It leaves Chileans enchanted
The pinch is Peruvian
so stop saying bullshit

It is said that in Peru they eat pigeons
That in Bolivia they surf without having sea
That the nose of an Argentine
reach the moon

I want to know
If in Mexico Trump's wall is going to jump
If Venezuelans want to sell
Their arepas that are not as tasty as my tamale

Maybe they still think
Latin Americans live apart
But everyone must know
That we trolled much more
Thanks to the Internet

The glowing quatic wea
It leaves Chileans enchanted
And the Ecuadorians, from Wakanda
I think they migrated

Everyone thought that this song
I was only going to troll Chileans
I have egged them
Well here we are going to laugh at everyone equally

Paraguay passes piola but the truth
It's that they don't have sea either
Argentina, Uruguay
They do not like to be told that they speak the same

and these 3
Guyana, Surinami and French Guiana
I don't know if they speak Spanish
And the Brazilians continue to regret the 7 to 1

I don't know how to include Colombia
Without sounding so offensive with the subject of coca
And nothing occurred to me
I don't know what to say about Central Americans

The glowing quatic wea
I leave Latinos enchanted
all have sung
We understand each other because we speak Spanish

Oh nobody invited him to Spain
To this party where we trolled
We have to sympathize
Come here we are going to laugh
of your vital wave
Oh, it tastes great

Yes I know what you are saying with this. It's done in my hometown a lot. Whenever other Spanish speakers come they get shocked by it.

It happens specifically amongst men, instead of addressing each other by their name, they say "maricon". All the time almost. It's like saying "dude" or I'm not sure what else.

I don't know why this happens though. Everyone in the youth does it.

I see a war incoming in this thread...I won't engage in it though.
I think the culture war is overrated. I don't join any side.
I love all cultures. Lots of beautiful stuff.

Teenage girls do something similar… at least when I was in high school girls called each other bitches and 'ho's as a term of endearment. I never liked that but it is hard to find people who don't behave this way.

I am mid 20s and a lot of my female friends and people I know still do this. I never liked it much either but it seems to be common, especially since a lot of people online seem to do it so it probably further encourages the behaviour.

We live in arguably the easiest decade to be alive of any generation, yet mental health and well-being is at an all time low.

The complexity of these issues can be argued be either side using cherry picked statistics and studies.

Twitter and Reddit are worldwide mobs.

The problem with this world is people.

The amount of evil in this world continues in direct correlation to the amount of people.

Unfortunately, It's not just the gringos anymore. In my country, that mentality is slowly starting to creep everywhere. It's an imposition that always begins top to bottom with the media and mainstream artists in conjunction with the support of part of the economic elite and international organizations. I can only hope that when people start to finally realize the threat and the danger that the "woke culture" truly represents. It's not too late.

If woke culture is on the rise then why is fascism becoming so popular? Trump, Bolsonaro, Modi, Boris Johnson, Orban, Erdogan,

Democracy is on the wane now: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_backsliding

And this is due primarily to right wing populist dictators rising.

It would be sensible to focus on actual global problems rather than made up ones such as "wokism". Anyone who thinks wokism is the biggest issue facing global politics has no idea.

Not to mention other serious political issues such as climate change, or increasing wealth inequality.

In addition, the USA is exporting all that ideological garbage to our countries, I think it is time to stop eating everything that the gringos give us
