Rate your hatred for generative AI on a scale of 1-10 (1 close to none hatred, 10 extreme hatred)
3 of my most popular threads on here were. The first original spam thread. It was sort of a creative invention. And I posted a lot in it. But it was deleted I think due to a lack of rules within that thread sadly.
A recovery thread that was inspired by my third therapist. Name 3 positve things that happened to you today
And anoher highly popular thread was Rate your suicidal thoughts on a scale of 1-10.
So here comes the thread where you rate your hatred for generative AI.
My friends really hate AI and I asked them this question. And their answers were 8-9. I joked I think 10 should not mean you have to hate it on a Ted Kaczynski level.
I am not sure why my friends didn't respond 10. But I think you probably had to engage in protests or something similar on such a level. Maybe they also notice that I see some use in AI. I once did a funny AI prank on them. I often sent them news articles from different outlets often from a newspaper they really despise. And I generated with Grok an article that looks like from that outlet with the title. Here is why Adolf Hitler was a leftwing communist. A right-wing politician claimed that prior to that. And I persuaded my friend to read that article and he became increasingly confused. The first impression was I didn't expect anything else from that outlet complete bullshit. But when he read the article he was like the narratives of that article don't make much sense to me. After like an hour I told them this was a prank. And we all had to laugh a lot....
Where do I rate my hatred for AI? I am using generative AI frequently. But most of my friends don't like AI. Most of my friends boycott it. And when I meet people or see them posting online I can better relate to people/or I have a better chemistry with people who hate AI. Lol.
I am also not sure whether the impact on me will be positive in the longrun. I think though I have personality and life that makes me vulnerable to AI addiction or dependency. I am often very overwhelmed by my life and AI chatbots make me a little bit more function. I ask myself though which price will I have to pay for that. There were positive and negative effects on my life because of my usage. I could imagine my usage of AI is like a guilty pleasure. On the other hand on some occassions it really helped me to reach out for help. And I was able to organize help for my dad who is in a very desperate situation. It is easier to organize resources for me and to formulate mails that usually overwhelm me. In some ways I also understand myself better. There was something I always suspected I adapted the perspective/gaze of a bully as a consequence of bullying. I want to learn more about that. Though, I have huge doubts whether AI will have a good impact on the culture, internet, workplace, financial life of most citizens. I dislike all the AI billionaires and I don't buy any of their altruism. It is perverted to what effective altruism has become nowadays...I once really liked that concept. I wish unemployment would become less stigmatized. I doubt we will see massive unemployment though as a consequence of generative AI. Many of my friends also have economic fears. I cannot work anyway. I wish the productivity lies became true. And everything was automized and there was the age of abundance. The way more realistic scenario is however that the top 1%, maybe the top 0,1% will accumulate insane amounts of money and the rest of the society will have to fight for the crumbs.
So my final answer is 2 or 3. Thus far I don't hate that I use AI. Even though I have a lot of self-hatred for myself. But the developments around AI sound concerning.
