Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

So a friend of mine will soon leave the country and migrate to a country far far away. It feels sort of unreal not to see him the next years. The country is so far away that I won't visit it. It would also cost way too much. It is his dream. I have doubts whether he will become happy. I think he has doubts himself but I don't want to reinforce them. I think it is right after spending all this time into this project to try it at least. I could imagine he will be very lonely. He once lived in a different city not that far away. And he was way happier to live again in the region where he grew up.

I don't have any friends that actually likes generative AI. But he is the friend who hates AI the most. He works in a field where generative AI makes earning a living way harder.

I had a phone call with another friend yesterday. And I told him that I cannot really imagine that his life on a different continent will really work out. Maybe that's just copium for losing this close friend. He already has a job in this country. However, I ask myself the following. I think in the country where he will live AI is even more popular (Asia) What if his boss expects him to use generative AI for his job. I think my friend would become really really mad. My other friends tell me they would prefer staying unemployed but I am not sure whether that's thought-through. Moreover, for my friend in a country where he would have to leave when he is unemployed well he would be in a real dilemma. I could imagine such a situation would have a very negative impact on his mental well-being. I think it is pretty risky to try a new beginning somewhere else. It feels sort of surreal that he will eave soon. But it is his choice. And I don't want to stop him from that dream. But I don't really feel very good about all that.

I would refuse even if it was guaranteed I'd lose my job. Though, I'm not sure most people are as extreme as that. You should bring up your concern to your friend if you haven't, even if you want to stop him, there is still real concern there.

As shitty as it would be, yeah. I have morals but I also don't like being homeless.

I dont think Id take the job if I had to use AI, but Id definitely want to have other jobs lined up. If there werent any other jobs Id probably bite the bullet and work there asmuch as Id hate myself for it.

I work in IT currently and my work encourages AI use, I have had my boss tell me to use it for one thing or another. This does not work in every situation obviously, but I just lie and say I did. I have considered quitting before, but currently this works for me and considering most of my work is with accessibility, I don't want someone willing to use AI to take my job.

Still, I would rather loose my job than use AI to keep it. I've heard stories from artists using AI daily because its the only way they can find consistent work, and they all seem to hate it, to an extension themselves. Planning to cbt makes my choice easier likely. If it looks like I can't support myself then there is a planned way out. But part of the reason I want to die in the first place is that existence in the world right now just feels so unethical whenever I spend any time thinking about it. I imagine I might have a bit of a moral complex.
