It's funny that AI is such a watered down, nothing burger of a marketing term that it implies anything from "this software has an algorithm for one specific thing that calculates in a variety of factors" to "the only way this could be more of a crime is if we ran parts of this calculation on crushed baby corpses"

Anyway it's at a solid 10. I am so tired of seeing it everywhere and have companies pushing it on us like we got them pregnant with it

10!!!!!!!!! (When i say "you" I don't mean anyone specific but I do mean all AI users, so feel offended if you should!)
I fucking hate AI and don't understand how anyone can be ok or good forbid like it. It has so many flaws and issues and costs us so much. Not just in a financial sense but the environmental factors alone. The water, the ecosystems around data centers dying, the community's in the area being forced to relocate because of the same effects, it being a literal dumpster fire as it's not sustainable- and will 'have' to be rebuilt and replaced within years of being built. And anybody who tries to defend the impacts AI slop by bringing up things like food/meat industry is truly just as dumb as ai wants you to be. Because 1ya the meat/farming industry is atrocious, so stop buying into it and stop eating meat. Idk why ur so proud of knowing how bad the farming industry is and happily supporting/buying into it. 2the farming industry while bad, it fufills a NEED, not just a wanted purpose but and actual need. THERE IS NO NEED FOR AI!! All this stupid shit people love it for, whether it's 'helping you' or just a 'tool' that brings a little bit of joy, ITS NOT NECESSARY. There are so many other ways to get not only the same shitty outcome but you can actually get a good outcome if you used your fucking brain— Hell use someone else's brain even! Ai barely serves a purpose but it absolutely does not fulfil a necessity.
The fact that people are becoming forced-reliant on it is actually evil. I do everything I can to not use, engage, or even just thinking about ai shit but it's being put in everything, and that's severely messed up of our society/government/political billionaires if you really wanna get down to it.
Regardless idgaf if u life ai or just use it a little(aka something u say to try and justify it to yourself), the use of ai is like(ENTIRELY IS) k taking the lives of a dozen just so you can have a shitty picture of ur dog in human clothes. It's actually so ridiculous. And you act like it's not just because you can see the active slaughter. But a explosion/bomb victim doesn't become any less dead just because the detonator is miles away.

STOP FUCKING USING FUCKING AI AT ALL COSTS!!!

i dont think it has to do much with the technology itself. it's mostly the big ones, esp with huge data centers, that are problematic. generative ai is already used in certain areas of research. procedural terrain generation via diffusion algorithms is one example i can think of. it's not a magical, black box technology. it's still often leveraged to do harm though. there are valid concerns about replacement of jobs, though i would say thats a weakness with capitalism
thats a fair point

Definitely a solid 9-10. I'm so tired of seeing it everywhere, and seeing family share AI content as if its real. Not to mention the awful shit its being used for on social media platforms, or the environmental and economical impacts of it.
I know it has some applications, but it's current cons outweigh any pros imo.

Can be very inaccurate and some major models can't even correctly teach easy stuff like playing solitaire. I'm not particularly against AIs, just wish they could be more reliable.

10.

AI in general is very useful for lots of things, but generative AI isn't the case for sure. Not only it's harming the enviroment and art in general, but also, why does it exist? Seriously, what is it useful for? Most of the cases I've heard it's "useful" for doesn't actually need it and can be done with, say, other types of AI more suited for the task.

And more importantly, why do we need to automate art?

I guess 10. I've seen one single use of genAI that I think is ethical, and that was a blind person I knew who used meta glasses to help describe his environment. Even then, the way that AI is trained, created, and maintained is completely unethical, and I cannot support it.

I don't even consider myself creative it'll still be a 10 for me. Atm the bad use cases of Gen Ai or Ai in general out weighs the good.

there was someone in twitter who made an artist deactivate their account for accusing them of using ai. anti ai people are insane and i refuse to support them.

i am not even 100% in favour of ai, there's concerns like with any new technology, really but that's not the ais fault, is the misuse of it (humans ruining everything, what a surprise) we dont ban knives even if they can be used to kill other people.

also;

- it wont take anybodys job, human work will always be needed.

- if yall really cared about the environment you wouldnt even be using any device or even electricity at all.

It's around 7 or 8, not a 10 because there are some cases when AI can be useful [yet it does so poorly in the "useful" cases that it's not able to turn the tide on the positive side]; but its usefulness simultanously can be taken advatange of on the job market which I heavily dislike. Something I hate is the so popular "AI slop", so low quality memes and images; especially the real world looking ones. Even if the ones that base their animations and images on something already existing aren't much better either [they're less bad for me though]. Mostly the environmental, economical consequences of AI makes me very repulsed with that and I wish it never existed to begin with.

Eh, I would say maybe a 4/10. I think people are justified in their hatred towards it, but like... maybe a bit over the top relative to other evils in this world?

People should feel more hatred towards the normalization of conspicuous consumption and the culture of consumerism and materialism in general. That's what destroys our planet more than anything: constant manufacturing of products that serve no practical purpose, fuel burning that serves no practical purpose, homes and neighborhoods designed primarily to be status symbols for upper middle class and to separate them physically from the poors.

I mean, I know that stuff gets hate too, but I feel like it's rarely spoken about with this as much depth and genuine passion as like anti-AI sentiment.

10, for me as an artist, genAI is nothing but a stealing algorithm that people cling to because theyre lazy. This is obv more about ai "art" or music etc etc but all of it still uses way too much resources for me to be more neutral about it.
just wanted to holla at another trigun fan đź«‚

About the topic mine would be a solid 10. I think AI is a powerful tool but is now developed with the worse intentions by the worst people on the planet. So fuck that bullshit. It's not like they're setting us up to not work and get payed. They will abandon the people who helped train these bullshit AI.

So yeah, great potential, horrible result so far
