Autism Autism is genetic and the fact the gene is still alive and well in the modern day implies it has some kind of use worth carrying on the gene for and no matter where you are on the spectrum, you're not a burden and you can find your self fulfillment. Some people find it easily, others have to go on a whole JRPG anthology quest to find it. I feel like when it's autism that's the main motive to commit suicide, you should stick around just out of spite as the world isn't gonna get better for autistic people if we're all hanging from the ceiling being just another piece of data for the statistics. I believe everyone has at least 1 thing they're good at, and autism can be very handy for certain skills so there is hope I think. I don't want to come off as patronising but I can't help it: I don't want my fellow autistic people to give in.

Awesome reply. I'm not sure how much is genetic vs environmental (eg, a foster child without autism raised with autistic parents and who only knew autistic friends, may develop autistic traits), tho yes, genes do affect the initial setup of the brain, and the environment further influences the person.

I feel your pain, more than most. I too am on the cursed spectrum of autism. Ive never asked for government assistance with it because I have a very low trust of people because due to my autism people have always betrayed me and hurt me. Everywhere I go I feel like the universe turns everyone against me. The only way I can avoid trouble, stress, and drama is to become a hermit and never leave my house.

A lot of the reason my childhood was so violent and abusive was because of my autism. My parents just didn't know how to deal with an autistic child and so they took out all of their anger and frustration out on me in a brutal fashion; mentally and physically. Many days I got beaten so bad that its a miracle I survived, even in my 40s thinking about it still gives me PTSD. I was treated worse than an animal as a child, its why I grew up with such low confidence in myself and hate myself for being a coward and unable to kill myself. I really hate that I have to keep suffering from my trauma. But I feel like im getting closer and braver, soon I think I will be able to do it...soon.

I wonder if there is going to be autistic people in the future... Maybe we are the abnormal ones and they will find a way to detect that before birth even

not sure, also, just because detection (and medicine in general) may be available doesn't mean it will always be used. Some people still don't have access to X-rays and only have access to very limited hospitals

Its very common for neurotypicals to dismiss people with autism. Neurotypicals often dismiss or struggle to grasp what autism is like; it's a truly unique challenge. Being constantly misunderstood by neurotypicals is an extremely isolating experience.
