I'm going to be honest but I don't like Jordan Peterson and I think he should stick to psychology. He did a debate with Benatar and the whole time he was contradicting himself and posing weird hypotheticals. He doesn't have the same level of critical thinking as people like Benatar and he's only popular because of his controversial / politically incorrect opinions.

I like Alan Watts.
I like Alan Watts too, pity he drank himself to death. Still, philosophers always were deeply troubled souls.

On 3 January 1889, Nietzsche suffered a mental breakdown.[73] Two policemen approached him after he caused a public disturbance in the streets of Turin. What happened remains unknown, but an often-repeated tale from shortly after his death states that Nietzsche witnessed the flogging of a horse at the other end of the Piazza Carlo Alberto, ran to the horse, threw his arms up around its neck to protect it, and then collapsed to the ground.[74

He never recovered from this experience and it's the origin of the Bela Tarr film 'Turin Horse'

I like Alan Watts like no other especially since he helped me find a lot closure but lately I've been a bit critical with what he says. He said once that it is our responsibility to stick with this life so the universe can express itself along those lines and that suicide only negates the problem. Or that our ego doesn't exist yet we are delved into our personas so much that I find it hard to simply 'let go' especially when you live in a culture that lives in the opposite manner. And for one why must we be so dependent on our egos? Why all these illusions just to tell you it's all fake? Or like yesterday he was talking about control over ones life and said having any control over ones life is wrong basically and that life should be about surprises even bad ones. I have alot of respect for him but even he is just a vulnerable human being speaking out of his ass thinking what he says is true. And while I believe he speaks volumes of truth sometimes he is just plain wrong in my opinion sometimes. An while it's up for debate, at the end of his life he probably killed himself via alcohol poisoning, of course it's speculation.

I think it's easier to talk the talk than to walk the walk, for all people, but philosophers set themselves high standards. He was an idealist, a thoughtful and intelligent man. I've also noticed some discrepancies in his thinking but i don't care, because i felt that the place he was coming from was genuine and compassionate. He had a complicated life, unlike some buddhist master who is brought up entirely in a limited tradition. He was trying to explain existence to himself as much as anyone else and i forgive him his contradictions and uncertainty.

I agree especially considering how much of an idealist he was.
