How do I get the "right spot"?
Idk, practice. I tried several timea with rope, ribbon, belt etc and couldn't get to passing out. Some people find it straight away and some people never do.

Here I am again. I've taken 2 Benzos, 3 bottles of beer/cider and have the noose tied around the emergency fire door. I'm am praying that my SI doesn't kick in after I've had a few more drinks. Wish me luck!

Sad to see this Trjan. I randomly liked a few things you shared recently, not realizing they were from the same user. Once I made the connection I thought oh, this member is awesome.

Well wishes your way. The choice is always open until the end.

That means a lot fellow Highsightsis2020. This forum is truly a separation from the real world for me, and I can only presume many others. All the best. :)
How many sections should I preserve with until I lose consciousness? In my head it feels like 20 seconds but I'm sure it's only 3-4 seconds and then my SI kicks in. I've had a few more drinks and am hoping this will aid in my ability to not be as responsive.

I've done bjj for a lot of my life, I could choke someone out and they'd drift out of consciousness in about 4 or 5 seconds if they didn't tap. And that's people who are used to being choked! Get this done effectively and it'll be no time at all. I have a failed attempt where due to my strength I held onto the rope for a long time and finally lifted out. I haven't really eaten for 2 months and have lost a LOT of weight so I can get this done again properly. Are you all content with your method?

would this work? for a full suspension, maybe? still trying to find my sweet spot but if i wrapped the ends better here and kicked off the ladder that SHOULD work, right?
You mustn't have anything to hang onto as you'll be gripping it and prolonging the beautiful process. If I was in that situation I'd retie the knot, choose a hangman's noose, test the strength of the beam supporting and use a far smaller ladder I can kick away properly. Good luck though brother!

We'll see the thing here is when you're choking someone out in BJJ you're using your arm, which is wide and somewhat soft and it's pretty comfortable. Having a rope cinch around your neck and dig in and possible break your hyoid bone (which happens in about half of hangings) is a completely different matter. I've tied my noose (for full suspension) and stood on the chair and lowered myself to get a feeling for it. Jesus Christ it's painful. I don't think I could go through with it.

A yoga belt might be a better option for those who don't like the pain and want to fully suspend. My personal feeling is that if you want to escape all pain then suicide isn't for you. What's a little bit of pain that we aren't already used to? It's not a long period of time and just suck it up and deal with it, like a cold shower!

It's easy to say but I've been in a very very bad place and my fear still stopped me from doing it. And no this does not mean I'm not ready to CTB. Fear of a method is not the and as being afraid of dying. Also, there is fear of failure. It's not a rational fear. You might be doing extremely badly but once your standing on that edge your brain just screams that this is going to be worse than whatever you're facing even though you know it's not.

I put a belt around my neck today just to get a feel for something there. It felt right.

Bumping this thread for info. I didn't want to go by hanging but I kind of knew I always would. I'll never that that N cash.

Ly bro, you got this. You'll do whatever you feel is right. This whole site is a group of failed attempters, you aren't alone I assure you. The only failure with side effects is being found. Getting over the survival instinct is the tough part. Perhaps meditation practice to help you succumb and submit to an inevitable

Guide to partially suspended hanging:

Warning: Don't try this method unless you're totally sure that:
a) you want to kill yourself
b) that you won't be found for at least 30 minutes after you attempt.

This method is very lethal and quick (quick from your perspective
anyway, as you black out within seconds), but if you're found in time
and 'saved' you can end up with serious brain damage and/or be left a
vegetable.

Why partial suspension?
Because full suspension seems to me to be unnecessary and creates
difficulties. First of all you need to find a place which would hold
your entire weight, which isn't easy, and also you need a stronger
ligature, which isn't always easy to find either. There's nothing
wrong with full suspension, but it may not be a viable method for
everyone, especially if you're looking to use everyday materials from
around the home.

By partial suspension I mean that you hang yourself around the neck
(specifically the carotid artery), and push downwards while kneeling.
This should create enough downward pressure on the ligature to tighten
it and close the carotid artery and stop the blood flow to your brain.
All you need is 3 kilograms of pressure to do this, which isn't much
at all.

Also, with full suspension your entire body weight is pressurizing
your neck, and this would probably be more than enough to not only cut
off the blood supply to your brain, but break your neck as well. I'm
not too sure if that's a good or a bad thing. I do know though, that
statistically people who've attempted via hanging have more often been
found kneeling and partially suspended than being fully suspended.

Where is the carotid artery?
Before you start you have to know this. If you place your hand around
the middle of your neck, around your Adam's apple, with one thumb on
one side and all fingers on the other, you should feel a strong pulse
and heartbeat. If you close your hand now fairly firmly, you'll
probably make yourself pass out. It might be a good idea to try this
to make sure you've got the right spot.

What type of ligature?
You need a ligature that's strong, but not too elastic. It doesn't
have to be very long, 1 meter or more would be plenty. I'd advise
against nylon rope, string, fishing wire, etc.
Neckties on the other hand, are perfect Smile .

It may also be a good idea to lubricate the ligature with soap. This
would help the noose tighten even quicker, especially if you're using
a rough ligature such as a rope. Lubricating it in this way will
increase the friction once you push your head down and tighten the
noose, and could make it a little more effective and faster.

What type of knot?
A slipknot. It's one of the most basic knots around, and you make it
with one end of your ligature. The other end should go around your
hanging place.

Many people have the misguided idea that a hangman's knot should be
used, but they're wrong. A hangman's knot is for a completely
different purpose, and won't work for this method.

Where should I hang?
You should hang from a support which will hold part of your weight.

You should test this by tying the loose end of your ligature around
the support several times, sticking your hand (NOT your head) in the
noose and pushing down with it. If the noose holds, you're fine. If
not, then you'll have to find another spot.

A great and easy place to hang is from the thick horizontal metal bar
which you find in wardrobes in most homes.

When should I do it?
When no one else will be in the same area, for at least 30 minutes.
You lose consciousness within seconds but your body doesn't completely
die for around 15-20 minutes. The extra 10-15 minutes is for
preparation time and just in case.

How?

When you're completely ready, kneel down, stick your head in the
noose, position it around the carotid artery and push downwards with
your head.

Good luck...
I'm going to try to end things this weekend. How do you tie a slipknot?

Mate, there are plenty of sites which will walk you through it step by step, or videos on YouTube. It's just a google search away.

I'd fuck up the knot. I can't seem to do anything right.

I'm just using this wire as an example IMG 20220122 160810065 because it's close to me. I'm wondering what kind of knot is this (it's basic) and would it work?

That is considered a simple knot I guess. Haven't heard much about this method or if it will work.

You're not sure if full suspension hanging will work? It's the second most lethal method after guns if you do it right.

You need to browse the hanging megathread. There are different types of hanging. There is partial suspension where you need to know the right spot to pass out quickly. The spot is different for everyone. There is also full suspension. There is no right spot in full suspension as the rope will always be high on your neck because of the weight of your body.

My head just feels like it's going to explode. Probably because my knot is wrong or positioned the wrong way I have no idea. I'll just have to deal with it when the time comes.

In case of full suspension with reliable slipknot pain should last no more than 10-30 seconds.

Yeah I'm kind of slow so I don't know what I'm doing properly. When I make a slipknot it leaves a piece of the string loose where it just slips out unless I'm doing it wrong.

I used to experience the exploding head feeling also but then I learned it's more comfortable to lean forward rather than trying to hang downwards. Every time I would hang downwards I would get an exploding head, but whenever I lean forward I don't feel it and can feel myself losing consciousness without crushing my windpipe. I think this way is meant to induce unconsciousness quicker and without pain, then in theory you'll start properly hanging while unconscious. I've only got as far as just before losing consciousness, my vision going hazy and I think I had tingles in my hands(?), but I stopped myself before I completely passed out. I don't know why I stopped myself, I think I was just astonished that I could feel it working without any pain and I wanted a moment to process that - then SI kicked in. I'm gonna attempt tomorrow and hopefully I can succeed

Interesting. Sounds like partial. How was everything set up? What kind of knot? Where did you place it? I wish you peace in whatever choice you make.
