How much facial damage would there be with a .45 ACP handgun in the mouth through the back of my head? I dont want to be too disfigured for my parents to see
While the previous poster is correct, at the same time I don't think one would be too messed up. I've seen handgun suicides with larger rounds and even at least one shotgun suicide where the face has still been completely intact. I think if a gun is in someone's mouth there isn't much potential for the face being disfigured.

What would be better: A 9mm with hollow points of a 45 ACP with full metal jacket? Apparently 1911 style handguns don't feed well with hollow points. Does it even matter if I only need to fire it once?

It's over 1300 fps (feet per second) and should be more than enough. I think shot placement is still the most important aspect, bad placement could result in serious injuries and likely permanent severe debility.
I still am unsure how to aim once the barrel is in my mouth. There has to be some markers in the mouth that we can aim toward correct? Aim above, toward or below the uvula?
You guys think a .223 hunting rifle will do it? I'm just wondering. I sold my shotgun like an idiot but still have my favorite hunting rifle and some ammo. I guess if the military uses it it must be good enough point blank right?
Bought a Taurus .38 special. Picked it up from the store 2 days ago. I've done dry runs with it unloaded trigger pulls in mouth and behind the ear. Hoping that I can find the courage and strength to do it for real
Interesting, I'm going to a gun show this weekend and planning on getting a 357, I'm sure I will be feeling the same way as you, playing around with it until I'm ready. Not to sound like an idiot but it's going to be strange having it sitting here, I find a great sense of relief but it's surreal.

I ordered a .45 and it should come sometime this week and I feel the exact same. Its going to be a huge sense of relief knowing I have it in my possession. Ive been anxiously waiting since I ordered it at the gun shop.
It's going to be nice just having it here. I've been on medications since 1980, this has been a long time in the making. I will know when the time is right, as right now I'm taking care of loose ends but yes realistically, I know an episode is going to hit and I'm so thankful I have relief if I should need it.
That being said, when it comes time to pull the trigger I'm sure conflicting emotions will arise but I'm tired and it's time to move on.
Does anyone know if this is ok ? It is as you can see with european metric (im from france) so I would be glad if a connoiseur could tell me if that the shit I need or if its too weak.
It would be the equivalent of firing sixteen bullets all at once, bunched together, each almost the diameter of a .32, which is the caliber police used in handguns for many years, so it should be very good.
I posted my firearm suicide guide in the discussion section but since this thread addresses the issue directly, I will repost it here too. see the attachment PDF "how to die where I have gathered up everything I could find about suicide by shotgun. To make the read short, you put shotgun upright with 0.5 liter bottle attached to the trigger by rope. put side of your head on shotgun and release the bottle (so that you won't have to push the trigger). hence the method name "releasing the bottle".

I had to survive all the attempts and spend months reading esoterics. Then more months walking in forests, mountains and towns while studying firearms to gather up all this information. 2023-2024 were hardest years in my entire life.
I mean if they live in America they could buy a 5.56 barrel, in which case it wouldn't be as dangerous, however if they couldn't buy a factory barrel... people are already worried enough about firing 9x19 out of barrels made from pipe and 9x19 has a maximum pressure of 35,000psi, whereas 5.56 has about 55,000-62,000psi.
there's no way this isn't enough to completely blow your head off point blank. I haven't seen videos of these bullets specifically, but I have seen ones of 20 gauge variants. Looked to pack enough of a punch. And 20 gauge is supposed to be weaker than 12 gauge. So I guess that makes these even better. I'm still going with slug myself.
Also, looking for some expert confirmation. Even if you miss the brain stem and/or vegetable yourself, the blood loss is still almost guaranteed to kill you, right? Assuming nobody is right there to immediately call for help. I'm sure it would vary from person to person on how long it would take you to bleed out. Is it optimistic to think damn near anybody would be dead within an hour? I just want peace of mind in knowing that even if I somehow screw up the aim inside my mouth, that death is still almost certain. It's just tough ascertaining how far up I should angle the shotgun. I don't even know if I'm shoving enough of the barrel inside my mouth. I'm trying to use the picture of the guy aiming it on page 12 as a reference, and I think it's pretty tough to imitate.

I mean, reverse-image searching it revealed medical journals talking about it, can't be bothered to read them right now but you could read through and see how he survived.

Speaking of medical journals, this may be of interest to people, certainly was to me (warning: medical journal showing photos of a corpse, gory):

That looks mildly disturbing but maybe it's because the bleeding would have been stemmed by swelling around the harpoon itself? It seems like he only survived for a while afterwards because he somehow called 911 himself immediately after the incident. It was interesting to read but sad considering the pain he mustve been in and the lack of closure for the family.
My one worry about using a handgun (over a shotgun or rifle even) is that I've heard the brain can swell immediately after being penetrated to prevent blood loss, even closing up the bullet path. I've known that in rare instances people shot in the head can survive without receiving medical care for hours, but I don't have a good idea of the odds of dying if left alone for a few hours from a .357 with hollowpoints, after missing the brainstem and shooting through other mid-back parts of the brain (for example)...
Has anyone in the UK actually managed to get a gun using the info here? I can't really find any source other than what OP linked to substantiate that getting a black powder license is as simple as going to a "historical gun shop", getting an antique LARP gun, and then mentioning to the police that you own an antique LARP gun therefore should get a black powder license. And then loading up a cartridge with the black powder you were given. Most stuff I found suggests you need to join a shooting club of some kind - and the only ones near me have a 3-month probationary period before they can assist with anything like this.

...I'm guessing 3D printed firearms are illegal as well? Do they even sell ammo anywhere in the UK (from shooting ranges)? It's honestly kind of bizarre thinking that there might be almost no guns whatsoever anywhere in the UK.
According to the article the harpoon person was only saved because he himself, against all odds, dialed 911 immediately after shooting himself in the head with the harpoon (how is that even possible?). When they got to him he was already unconscious and (I think) probably would've died if left for a few more minutes.
..It also says the family chose to stop treating him on day 23, and that he passed peacefully on day 33.. so there's that..
It was very gruesome for a medical journal, and not in the bearable way that they show a standard surgical procedure but in the dark and depressing "everything just went terribly wrong" kind of way... probably better to not read it but it seemed like he would have passed away if he didn't use his phone.

Man, I don't think I could 3D print a functional gun lol. Doesn't that need plastics & stuff? I live with my parents, don't think there's any chance I could get a 3D printer set-up working (altho that would be sick if I could). And no, nothing is available without a gun license. Supposedly you can get an antique gun by pretending to be an Olly Cromwell LARPer, as the OP states, but all the stuff about easy access to black powder ammo just sounds like bollocks to me lol.
I advise you to purchase weapons only in the store. Because left-wing people can slip in something that is faulty and it can explode. Same with cartridges. I dream of summoning Death in this very way, I want to leave instantly. I have suffered in life and I don't want to suffer before I die. I have cancer of the soul, my body is my cell. I hope CTB happens soon, then there will be a holiday on my street..

I call bullshit on all of it. I don't think you can even legally buy modern reproductions of antique guns? As far as I know you can only buy guns made before a certain year as antique guns. Also on the topic of getting a black powder license, I imagine it would be on the same level of difficulty of getting a shotgun certificate, if not a firearms certificate (shotgun certificate being somewhat easier to get compared to a firearms certificate), so I do not see why someone wouldn't just do that at that point.
For the sake of a hypothetical discussion about firearms laws, here are some (legal, that do not contain explicit instructions on how to do anything and are basically news articles) links, keeping in mind that as far as I know you are simply someone interested in the discussion of firearms law without having any intention to acquire a gun in real life.

P.A. Luty has also wrote books about this topic, as well as the TM 31-210 book writing about it, but those would be illegal to view, so make sure not to look for instructions about this stuff if you decide to delve deeper into this interesting topic that I only have an academic interest in.
