Fasting and SN

I know you're meant to fast for 10 hours for SN method but I have a few questions.

This one might sound silly but I rather be sure, if I slept 10 hours during the night, in theory could I then take SN as I've fasted for 10 hours or does it need to be 10 hours from when you have been awake?

Is it better to fast for more than 10 hours, like would it make it more likely to be successful?

Also when fasting is it better to barely have no water, then last few hours drink no water?

1. Sleeping through those 10 hours is fine, just make sure you've not eaten anything too heavy beforehand, something that's likely to sit in your stomach for a bit is something to avoid.

2. This question I can't really answer, you could fast for 2 days but it could be counterproductive due to the build up of gastric acid, best not to over do it. Keeping it relatively simple with 8-20 hours of fasting is fine but you know your metabolism best. The most important thing to just plan for the possibility of what may cause failure and mitigate that which basically means follow the regimen, not deviate it from it too much to where your cause of failure will be down to user error like not finishing the drink or taking alcohol beforehand to reduce Si, things like that are generally best avoided if one doesn't want to be a position where they'll be saved.

3. I'd say drinking a little water outside the 2 hour window of the dry fast before taking sn is fine, I think this is also expressed in Stan's guide or even the SN Bible by Vizzy.

The key thing is just to give yourself enough time to fast long enough to where nothing else will interfere with the process.

Thank you @Goku Black. With the water fasting in last two hours how about when I take antiemetics/benzos etc would I be ok to take a little sip to swallow tablets?

with those, you can take a little water since they are that small that they don't require much plus benzos can be dissolved sublingually.
