I saw my daughter for what I thought would be the last time. I was alone and mentally ready. I placed some small pill boxes I bought over my carotids and secured them using an exercise elastic band. I applied a tourniquet over it and everything was snug and in place. 3 turns was all that was needed for my vision to fade, I felt pure happiness in this moment as I was passing out. Unfortunately I woke up a few minutes later slumped in my chair with a headache. What had happened was that as I passed out I slumped back on my office chair which caused my head to be pushed forward, which reduced the pressure the tourniquet was applying. Enough blood flow was reaching the brain that I don't have any brain damage luckily. I didn't want to retry because my neck was really hurting and I had a brutal headache.
Some things I learned from this attempt is that you need to pass out in the position you will be resting in; My office chair is not ideal for this. I think I will go for laying in bed next time once my neck isn't so tender. Perhaps I will add in a plastic bag to this method just in case.
