• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

The multiple organ transplant study you linked was related to individuals brought into the ER. While a noble goal, anyone wanting to CTB should seek to maximize the time from ctb within reason prior to discovery. Any attempts to make this as close as possible will result in some failures (outright or failures with significant irreparable injuries) along with some individuals being kept alive for periods of time until confirmed brain death, to the great discomfort of families. All this will still result in few or zero usable organs, depending on country.

Whole body donation to science may be a more reasonable, and much less harmful, goal.

I wasn't going to poison myself. I was planning on slitting my wrists from elbow up and bleed out.
You know this method is probably not going to work since SI, its really likely to fail. I don't think ctbing works with organ donations.

This was only one such example of a donation after suicide that just happened to be an individual brought into the ER. I thought it particularly interesting because there were two different methods used here, gunshot and poisoning, yet despite this multiple organs were able to be donated which was amazing. Any donation is incredible when donations are so few and far between in most countries around the world despite everyones best efforts and there is still alot of misinformation about organ and tissue donation out there. Alot of people dont seem to realize that people of all ages can be considered for donation and very few medical conditions will prevent a person from being able to donate any organs or tissues. For example, a person with severe asthma may not be able to donate lungs for transplantation, but may be able to donate their heart, liver, kidneys and eyes. Another fact some people may not be aware of is that people can be considered for tissue donation up to 48 hours following death.

I agree organ donation is noble, and of course disfunction in one system doesn't preclude donation from another. My biggest point is that trying to time ctb for organ donation will result in potentially serious consequences and not yield many or any viable organs in most countries.

In the uk organ donation is compulsory unless you opt out . It's the new law that was brought in as we had the lowest donation rate in Europe

I started to think about this after watching the movie "Seven Pounds". I love the idea of being useful even dead and for me donating organs is a "should-do" thing. Don't want them to rotten if they could be used to help others.

I am grateful to y'all for your input. When I wrote this post, I had been awake for several days and (after rereading my intelligible responses) was not thinking rationally. I mean, I don't even remember how or where I got most of that information. But after some time away (forced so-called "treatment") I realized what I want for myself and what I want to do for others can't coexist. My mom is no longer in need of a liver, so I don't need to go to such extreme lengths to donate my organs. As @FriendofDeath said I can donate whatever they'll accept after I'm good and dead. Thank you sweet humans for taking the time to respond to me.

-> on another note, I can't believe there is a Will Smith movie I haven't seen! Seven Pounds... I'll have to watch it!
