I think both is true.

Committing suicide affects other people in one's life. Even though, I like to fade out this reality. Personally, I don't see a committment to society in neither direction. But I think one should consider the situation of loved ones. For me it would be important to explain my reasons to my family. I imagine it very hard if no one in real life actually knew about my suicidality and my suicide would surprise most people completely. On the other hand, I cannot really imagine to keep everything to myself. Maybe I should not judge.

Besides to the personal situation in real life. I think we also have a responsibility on Sanctioned Suicide to consider which impact our words have on here on others. Most people on here are very empathetic and compassionate. But it is part of human nature to get angry or frustrated sometimes and arguments are sort of inevitable. I think people with pro-mortalist beliefs should be careful to apply their own beliefs on others when giving advices. Moreover, I think that caution and thinking things through are good advices. There are some unstable people on here. And sometimes I imagine my suicidality to be a time bomb.

These are my thoughts for now. It is still way too hot. But I heard maybe it will cool down soon. I hope so.

Sure, it's ethical consideration, and everyone thinks at least for a little bit about impact of this big decision on others.
However, world wasn't fair with us, and we're left to our own devices, in very painful situation. No one will help us, so for the most part ethics is out of the window.

It's awful. I wish I were alone. Truly alone. So no one would care.
Life is a cruel joke

Yeah I agree, especially on a forum such as this, one should be careful with what advice you give to others. It's not right for example to encourage someone to do themselves harm, no one should do that, these things can have awful consequences. Though in general I think most ppl on here are kind and compassionate

Absolutely well put. Most of my ethical concerns involving CTB these days are related to being compassionate and responsible with how I communicate here on SaSu.

In my personal life, I don't care how my "family" reacts to my death. I have a few mostly estranged friends who might be impacted peripherally, and that does trouble me a little; however, they know enough about my situation that I doubt they'll blame me or themselves for very long.

i sort of agree. unless someone is in extraordinary pain, suicide can perhaps be deemed an unethical action. i'm also not even sure if ethics are real; the world just exists and it's cruel sometimes and perhaps ethics are a human invention to cope with the fact that existence is actually deterministic and cruel. but even if ethics don't really exist, we can still try to be nicer if we want. there are ways of ctbing that are less kind and ways of ctbing that are more kind (but perhaps still unkind) imho. committing suicide in a way that is more traumatic to others can be unkind.

then again, many people see this topic in different ways. some people want their suicide to be more visible or damaging for whatever reason. i believe it's better to try not to traumatize others if ctbing if possible. this is part of why i think government assisted suicide that allows a formal process for dying when people are really sad or really in pain would be much better than people just attempting on their own.
