I know what you mean. We planned to live together with my gf but 1 room apartment was from 1,2k euro and all the rooms did not allow couples or moms with kids. Nothing found for half a year. Even rooms in the shared house for 800-1000 euro did not allow couples. The prices even grew higher and 1,5k for a 1-room apartment became not a very bad option. Getting 1,6k euro and paying 1,5k euro without bills is insane.

Indeed. Sooner or later, H5, H7, SARS, MERS, Ebola, Marburg, or something else will mutate, spread, and kill. This pandemic shows very clearly that we won't be prepared when the time comes. People will think that it won't happen here and go on with their business as usual.

By the way, the other day I stumbled upon a deadly virus I've never heard of before: Nipah. So far, it has mainly appeared in Malaysia, India, and Bangladesh; the last outbreak was in 2018. The primary symptom is meningitis and the fatality rate is 50–75 %. Luckily, it's not very contagious. Yet.

I've been trying to tell people for years about the scientifically proven disastrous mental health consequences of isolation. This is an unfortunate way for everyone to learn for themselves. On the bright side, I suppose, we will be gaining more members here in the months to come

No doubt. Starting third week of isolation (except for buying grosseries), people's mental health are getting worse everyday.

This virus has caused quite the mess across the globe. In my home state we have a stay at home order. People are working from home and a lot of places are closed. I would hope this will not last long, but I don't think that will be case. Worse in my views is that this will only give the goverment more power, which they don't need at all.

What are the restrictions where you all live? Do you follow them?

Everything in Norway is shut down (food stores are open). It's impossible for me to follow up all the restrictions in Norway. The most wealthy people here (and many Norwegians are rich) complain the most. They're not allowed visiting there mountain cottage or summer house, and they're furious about it. Everybody are snapping at each other. We are supposed to keep 2 meters distance. Like that's possible......

Thank you for saying this. After school kicked me out there has been so much drama, neither of my parents want me to stay at their place. I think universities handled this so badly. It's so dangerous to kick thousands of students to the streets during a pandemic. Not everyone has a home to go back to. Sleeping in the car sucks.

I hope there is safe housing provided soon...

Yeah, Norway and Sweden (Norwegians always compare themselves with the Swedes) practice totally different restrictions in handling the virus. I wonder whitch strategy turns out best... It's all about the economically outcome, my opinion.

OMG, I wish someone would tell them they come into this World with nothing and they will leave with nothing, that is just pure greed especially I bet they are tucked up somewhere safe and the poor employees won't even receive sick pay if they catch it. I think she received a message from the not . I hope all there staff rethink there employment options when this crisis is over and find somewhere they will be appreciated.

There have been a large increase in cases in the UK of domestic violence and people being killed it's a big problem with families being forced to stay in and not being able to go out, the stress levels go through the roof, it does sound like the homeless are being looked after as the Government told the local councils to get them off the streets.

I was wondering when they would act because when the virus was announced I was writing to different newspapers saying about homeless people need to be housed and taken off the streets as they weren't mentioned in the Governments action plan to combat Covid-19, I know for a fact the homeless people walk carriage to carriage on the tube asking for money and help and they may not even know about the virus so will continue trying to get help if infected.

Anyway finally something has been done to help them.

Labour have welcomed the plan but said councils "need more support" and money to achieve it.

I believe in case of Antarctica it can be much worse.
Glaciers will disappear anyway, even if we become green. And then probably appear again, but by this time humanity will be probably non-existent.

I'm getting a lot of spam and junk emails claiming to have a cure for covid-19 now. 100% Effective. 100% All-Natural.

Me too. I get huge amount of spam emails, promising a cure. This scam actually manage to convince elderly people to buy them. Obviously they're getting defrauded.

Statistically speaking, a majority of those people clapping for the NHS voted to slash funding for it, and to block pay rises for nurses.

Frankly I have absolutely zero sympathy for the elderly scumbags who'll be swept into an early grave by this. They've taken every opportunity to screw over younger people over the past thirty years. Brexit is just the cherry on top. Plus once they're gone they wont be able to hog so much capital for themselves.

Less money will be tied up in end-of-life care. Wages will increase. More housing will be available. The world will be a better place.

Yeah, I agree (though feeling slightly shame). The "68- generation" reallly fucked up everthing for their kids and grandkids. They were given houses for a ridiculous low prize, they get good pensions every months. On top, they're miserly and greedy, and totally unaware of the misery to the younger generation.
