An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.
Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.
With everything going on it'll take a miracle to get any sense of normalcy back if this ever ends. Jobs lost, economy crashes, death toll in the thousands and climbing. This pandemic will definitely leave a permanent negative impact on the world, and said world will be that much bleaker as a result. That's my take at least.

I never panicked over it cuz it's 2020, there will be a vaccine soon and also becuase the hype is bullshit. What I do hate is how the news is making it out to be like the Zombie virus, thus causing unesscary panic. Personally I love it if this virus was as deadly as the news make it out to be, cuz us human are sick filths that need to go away.
The only thing that pisses me off about it is the fact that all bars are closed.

I'm a real evil bitch, not to animals though, but for humanity... I'm having major inconveniences too and a chance of severe suffering, but I still think it's worth it so that humanity gets a slap on it's face, people have been absolutely demolishing the planet nonstop, this is a much needed break and deserved karma, for me too. We all deserve it 100%. We should get worse actually. People are horrible.
It's funny and ironic I was just thinking about how horrible humans are just in the last few months. I kept thinking about it and just wishing something to happen to all the obnoxious, greedy self centered entitled snobs, I remember in Nov that article from thousands of scientists warning untold suffering is coming if humans keep breeding like this. Every birth should be seen as another stab to the planet, anyone who plans and actively gets pregnant is a selfish sob and deserves to suffer, and they should treat their kids like royalty for the rest of their lives.

I'm at huge risk of it. I stay in a homeless shelter. It's the second biggest one in north America. There are over 1000 homeless there, it's open 24/7. The changed that have occurred due to the virus has everyone wound up. Homeless people at the shelter are an extremely difficult bunch to manage, now try to enforce social distancing in a place where you cramps a bunch of people in a room on mats on the floor.
It's a tough situation, if they were to just close their doors, we are talking about aloooot of people wandering downtown. I hate to label the homeless as I'm one of them, but let's be real, most of them are filthy and dont care about themselves let alone you. The shelters are nasty, there isn't enough hand sanitizer in the world to protect you in there.
Luckily I have my health so i dont have to worry about myself, even though I'd welcome it to kill me. My worry is transferring it to somebody. I have my mask and gloves and such..but I'm in a petri dish of drug addicts and street goons.
On top of all this, finding work is next to impossible at the moment. Our government is supposed to be giving us money soon, but who knows if I'll be able to receive it or qualify.
Hopefully its dealt with soon. I never realized how much I relied on the day to day function of society until everyone went on lockdown and the shelter is really all I have.

I haven't been quite sure what to do with how much has suddenly changed due to the virus as well as all the talk about it, not to mention the constant reminders on Spotify and the radio. I won't say I'm just a little on edge, because that would be a pretty big understatement. I definitely know by the time this whole isolation thing is over, and then eventually the virus itself, there's going to be significant damage to a lot of things. I'm pretty sure there already is by now with people not going to work and all, anyway.
I've been doing my best to keep my mind off of it though, with a few online games, some Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and music mainly. The new NIN Ghosts V-VI released a few hours ago, so that'll keep me going for a good while. Hope you can all stay safe and be well, too.
In the UK at 8 pm last night we were encouraged to open windows go onto balconies out into gardens and give the emergency services a BIG round of applause to show support for the hard work and putting themselves in danger, so here is a round of applause for every essential worker around the World, fighting to get this virus under control so I can get on with planning and CTB.

I stood outside my front door, I didn't join in, as no one else on my street was out, but I as I live on top of a hill, I could hear the town echoing, it was beautifully surreal.

I won't say my role, but I work within the UK healthcare system. I can only speak for my hospital, but from what I've witnessed over the past week, it's not looking good. I watched a Covid positive, aggressive patient get trapped in his room by security, as he tried to escape and infect staff. He died alone and confused on the floor, and I will never get over the horror of watching that. I have seen staff too frighten to comfort the dying, for fear of contracting the virus. The patients all die alone. Patients who were in the recovery phase have been found dead in the middle of the night. Our deaths have not been reported accurately, and are massively underreported. I have sobbed every day in my car after work.
I am young, fit and health, but I have made plans for the future. I cannot remain in a world without my family.

The frontman of the successful German rock band Rammstein, Till Lindemann, has been taken to an intensive care unit at a Berlin hospital. Has the 57-year-old singer contracted the novel coronavirus?

I wonder if the huge hit the economy is going to take, coupled with the huge unemployment numbers, loss of loved ones, etc., all that kind of stuff – if it will make prolifers a little more empathetic when more people inevitably begin to CTB as a direct result of the pandemic.
Guess who in the UK has the Corona Virus, BORIS Johnson and Matt Hancock have BOTH tested positive for coronavirus today - and now Chief Medical Officer Chris Whity has symptoms too.
I bet they were all in the subsidised bar in the House of Commons, having a good jolly up.
It would only make sense. It would be the perfect opportunity to federally legalize assisted bus catching. Hospitals are already getting overloaded. We need every bed we can get.

I'm more concerned about a financial collapse. If businesses are shutting down and have no income, not only can they not pay employees, they can't pay bills like rent. Then the building owners have no income, suppliers have no income, etc. The world relies on commerce.
The US stimulus for individuals is a brief stopgap, it won't even cover a month's rent and food for a lot of people. It will approve loans for small businesses, but that's not free money, they'll have to pay that money back on top of struggling to recover.
Mexico supposedly isn't going along with mass quarantines because the majority of the population is poor. World leaders are shaming the Mexican president, but the country doesn't have the money for bailouts, and many Mexicans get paid in cash, so it's not like they report all their wages for taxes and can be tracked like US workers receiving stimulus funds.

I wonder how are they going to fix the economy with such an oil price. It is quite obvious all the people won't be able to get money, even 1/5 of them. Loans might help the economy but the help is not significant. In many countries staff reduction is not something mythical despite being a bad practice, nobody wants to pay the workers which do not work. I give it a few months and the consequences may be really really bad...
Life does suck in these times so many of my friends are out of work. Not sure where to go. My friends dad worked the same job for over 30 years. And he was just laid off.

Same my whole family except my dad filed for unemployment. My uncle even said the website crashed due to so many people filing. Were going to be in another recession, its nothing you can do about it. But i know alot of people are gunna start becoming depressed, just like us and the ctb rates are going to skyrocket i know that. At this point "assisted s"should be accepted in the US. Alot of people are losing their parents children jobs houses. After this is over, ctb rates are going to be the new norm. They even said nurses are mentally stressed, one ctb the other day.

Statistically speaking, a majority of those people clapping for the NHS voted to slash funding for it, and to block pay rises for nurses.
Frankly I have absolutely zero sympathy for the elderly scumbags who'll be swept into an early grave by this. They've taken every opportunity to screw over younger people over the past thirty years. Brexit is just the cherry on top. Plus once they're gone they wont be able to hog so much capital for themselves.
Less money will be tied up in end-of-life care. Wages will increase. More housing will be available. The world will be a better place.

Spot on . I wouldn't use those words , but I share the same sentiments , sadly .
Many of the elderly are compassionate and caring , some were left alone and are not doing well (much like the younger generations) , but some of them are really nasty. Telling disabled people they should "go to work" and "stop taking money" , when they themselves actually got housing / education / pension / etc sponsored by the state (not just in the UK!). This attitude by those ungrateful old people is also trickling down to some of the younger generation, and they are acting like selfless assholes. I don't "blame" them with everything that is wrong , and I don't look at them as one homogeneous group , but the well off 55+ are pushing horrible policies and sentiments .
So , 15% gone they say? Great , more housing .

It has been weeks of quarantine there and so much accommodation became available. Ireland has a huge housing crisis so that is a good news. Hoping there will be more and more affordable accommodation every day. Those who were making a fortune on Airbnb on tourists now have to offer Irish people a lot of options.

As I find myself saying all too often, I wish I disagreed with you. But I don't. This is a warning shot. And more to come as nature pushes back. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
