I have the same feeling; this is the statement that resonated with me the most.
I think it is related to some kind of basic programming "more=better" rather than "quality=better."
For example, obesity is a prevailing problem in the world, but most obese people don't seem to care in the slightest. They keep consuming more.
Maybe some people are just short-sighted and cannot reason about long-term consequences...
Maybe this is an instinct that people are not aware of...
