I think I'm done with my setup. Did an arbor knot for the noose and a round turn and two half hitches (with an extra clove; I would've done extra turns but I forgot and didn't want to redo the whole thing). Ended up going with vaseline instead of dish soap bc it felt less gross. The only thing I'm concerned about is the fact that sticking a water bottle through the noose to test it just ended up constricting the noose greatly and with my feet staying on the floor, but I think it should work anyways. I'm just gonna get all my letters in order and then hopefully I'll ctb :) Final 1

Does this look right? (arbor knot) It self tightens when I stick my hand through it but I can also untighten it if I move my hand the other way. Is that normal?View attachment 185214

Do you mean pulling on the free end of the rope? If there is nothing inside the ligature, it will come undone.

With your neck inside and under the weight of your entire body, it will close to the maximum and it will be impossible for it to loosen.

The setup looks good. When you plan to attempt, remember to put the ligature in its correct position on the neck, as close to the skin as possible. The knot of the ligature should be behind the neck in the center.

Tighten the anchor point knots firmly, and if you wish you can add a stopper knot (over hand knot) to the free end.

I hope everything turns out as you wish.

Remember that you can change your mind at any time. Information is just information and can be used when appropriate.

Hi guys, I need some help please.

I´m planning to do it with a long piece of a strong fabric pillow case and I would do it from a closet bar, so it would be like a FSH. I would use a stool and when the time comes that I start to black out I´m going to be stepping slowly off.

The thing is that if I lean my chin down to my body nothing happens, I just hurt my trachea, but when I loosen up my body and lean to the back, like to the wall and let my body in a "C" position I get the tingly feeling and my body feels super light and my trachea doesn´t get hurt.

My question is, when I start getting that feeling is because I´m close to blacking out? and also, when I come off the stool my body is going to be in a vertical position which is going to hurt my trachea again, what can I do to prevent this or is this normal and I just have to accept it? I know some people suggest using some padding to the sides.

Thank you!

(OP mentions WLL)

Breaking Load/ Ultimate Load/ Breaking-Tensile Strength:
offers a measure of a rope's maximum capability.

Working Load Limit (WLL): defines the limits within which the rope can be safely used.

📌 "Working Load Limit" (WLL)

The safe maximum load a rope can carry in normal use, taking into account wear and environmental conditions.

Typically 15-25% of the tensile strength.

Accounts for real world factors like knots, bends, abrasion and weather.

Is designed to safely handle under normal working conditions. It takes into account safety factors, potential variations in loading, and other considerations to ensure that the equipment operates reliably without failure during its intended use.

It acts as the guiding metric for determining how much weight or stress a piece of equipment can handle regularly without risk of failure.

It's not the same as:

📌 "Breaking Load" (also known as "Ultimate Load" or "Breaking/Tensile Strength")

The maximum load a rope can withstand before it breaks in controlled conditions.

Tested in the lab by applying increasing tension until the rope breaks.

Measured without knots, friction or environmental stress.

Refers to the maximum load or force that a piece of equipment or material can withstand before it fails or breaks. It is the point at which the material or equipment experiences permanent deformation or catastrophic failure.

Is the amount of stress or weight that a component can withstand before it fails or breaks. This measurement is determined under ideal conditions and is not meant for regular operational use.

Sources: 1, 2, 3, 4
What is the minimum breaking strength of the rope in kilonewtons or kilograms?
