The corpse of a 23-year-old man was discovered in a rented, shared
with another man, student apartment, in February 2020. According to
the prosecutor's office information, the deceased had incomplete IT
(Information Technology) education. The inspection of the incident site
revealed the corpse laying on the bathroom floor (Fig. 1a) with a wine
glass (Fig. 1a and b), another glass (Fig. 1a and c) filled with translucent
fluid standing next to the deceased, and sodium nitrite container stored
in the under washbasin cabinet (Fig. 2a and b). The death scene investigation showed no signs of vomiting.
Based on the date on the farewell letter and the testimony of the
witnesses who saw the victim for the last time, it was possible to set the
time from death to the start of the autopsy at about 48 hours.
Body inspection and post mortem examination by forensics technician and prosecutor during death scene investigation revealed, among
others, dark purple discoloration of the labial red of the upper and lower
lips, cyanosis in the fingers of both hands (Fig. 3).
