Hi all,

Just finished reading Evelyn's guide on how to hang yourself.
I have a few questions, and I just ask that the answers provided are ones you are confident with:

1) From where exactly should the rope be adjusted on my neck? Below/above the adam's apple? What about on the sides of my neck, where should the rope be there?

2) If I am to ctb at a hotel/airbnb, when should I ctb? At what time time should i aim to get there and at what time should I aim to ctb? Should I have the television playing, and if so from what time to what time? Should I keep the television playing even after I ctb?

3) Should I hold my breath whilst hanging? I've heard this in Evelyn's thread and it's the first time I'm hearing this.

4) Any final advice, whether it's during the ctb or even on the journey to the hotel, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all and have a pleasant evening.

1) The knot of the ligature: should be placed at the back of the neck, in the center.

The position of the ligature (rope): goes under the jaw. More or less at the height of the Hyoid Bone, which is above of the Adam's apple (laryngeal prominence).

πŸ“Œ 'How to locate the carotid arteries?'

πŸ“Œ Ligature position + reference drawing with neck anatomy

2) If you plan to stay at a hotel, you'll need to make sure you won't be interrupted. Housekeepers/maids come in once a day to clean the rooms; you will have to find out that information at reception. Or you can request not to be disturbed during certain hours. Not all hotels are run the same way, so you'll have to do your own research.

Leaving the TV on or playing background music (at a normal volume, not too loud because it can attract other people's attention) during the attempt is a good idea to mask any suspicious noises.

Pay attention to people's movements. It would be best at a time when everyone is busy and distracted doing their own things.

3) About breathing...

(for the last time) You can swallow and breathe deeply, and then as you exhale slowly, leave the chair. Then there's nothing else you can do.

You won't be able to breathe once you're hanging.

The pressure of the ligature on the front of your neck will cause the base of your tongue to rise upward, blocking the passage of air, and also making swallowing impossible.

The ligature will close and penetrate your neck when the 'noose knot' is fully tighten by your full body weight suspended; blocking the carotid arteries and the flow of oxygenated blood to the brain, and in a few seconds you will lose consciousness and then you will no longer feel anything anymore.

4) Important: It is always good to test your rope and chosen anchor point before attempting. You can tie the rope to the anchor point and hang from it with your hands, swing a little and see what happens. Nothing should break or be damaged, both things should withstand your weight.

If you're staying at an Airbnb, make sure there are no cameras inside the house; they're sometimes common for security reasons in some regions/countries.

Thank you very much for this detailed list, it is most appreciated. I will be visiting those links and do some research regarding the specific hotel/airbnb's policies.

Regarding no. 3, are you certain that I shouldn't be holding my breath? I.e, gasping before stepping of the stool, holding my breath, then stepping off? I am not so sure about that, but I would like to know your take on this. Maybe I misunderstood the other post?
It's hard to answer these in more detail than JesiBel did. :)

Minor addition regarding hotels, there was a thread about it not long ago by evanescent_eva. You might want to check that as well. (She did catch the bus btw, rest in peace.)
No problem, every reply helps. I'll definitely be checking that thread out aswell, thanks.

Thank you both and have a pleasant rest of your day.

About nΒ°3

Maybe you can "practice" and see how you feel more comfortable.

Without tying the rope to the anchor point... you can put the ligature in its correct position (as if it were a necklace) on your neck and with your hands pull the free end and apply some pressure.

And test both scenarios to see which one you 'feel more comfortable': if it is better for you holding your breath or not, when the ligature starts closing and begining to compress your neck.

For my attempt.. I personally prefer my body to relax as I slowly exhale for the last time while I step off the chair. Holding my breath creates tension in the body, which I don't find comfortable.

...
I forgot in my previous post, a user gave me this recommendation: if you're going to a hotel/Airbnb you can visit their website, they usually have photos of the rooms and you can look if it's a convenient place or not.
