He did ask me a very strange question elsewhere about if I "wanted" to kill myself given my health condition--a bizarre choice of words. Seemed more of a spectator on the forum for weird cheap thrills. Still, nothing he wrote here seemed objectionable or against forum rules. Was he removed for a valid reason we're unaware of, or merely because some random mod personally disagreed with a nuanced approach to suicide, who knows? That's one of the mysteries of this place. Many commenters here seem happy with this place being an echo chamber, not a discussion forum.
You may disagree, but I think there was cause. I think he was breaking the rule that says "
Do NOT Harass, bully, attack or insult other members.
Do not troll or proselytize, meaning do not impose your views - no matter what they are - on others or make threads to get people riled up."
Specifically, I think he was trolling and purposely getting people riled up, and I agree with Dot that he was gaslighting. He was doing some weird, manipulative stuff. A couple different times (in this thread and another one), he said something along the lines of "you want to hurt me... Do you think being hurt makes you more likely to want to hurt others?" when it wasn't actually warranted based on what the other person had said. He actually copy/pasted some stuff someone ELSE said in a different thread into a reply to
@motel rooms. There were some other real peculiarities about his interactions, but I don't really want to spend any more time thinking about this. I won't say it's "triggering," exactly, but it definitely brings up some old stuff.
I also think he went astray from the "
Do: Be respectful of others and their opinions" rule. I perceived a very strong undertone of mockery/dismissal/disparagement in many of his replies.
But again, I do totally understand if you disagree!
ETA: YES, "weird cheap thrills," like you said! That's a good description. It seemed like he was getting people riled up as some kind of game and being super careful to be subtle enough to always have cover.
