Would anyone be there to care if we had all.never existed? That's one of the things I consider a lot: if I had never been born the world would not be a better or worse place. The world simply would never have cared about me. It's the same thing if hunany had never existed. If the first amino acids has never given rise to protenoids or if DNA had never formed from the base pairs, we would never have existed and nothing would have ever mattered.

I think about this a lot when I ponder suicide. I know that even those who care won't really carry the burden for more.thsn a generation

I think probably- it would have been better if we hadn't come about in the first place. Human beings are pretty incredible- when you look at what our race has 'achieved' in a comparitively short space of time. That doesn't gel at all well with an organic planet though. This poor planet simply can't keep up with what we take from it.

It's kind of difficult to imagine where we'd be now if earlier on- we'd thought more about the environment. I wonder if we would have developed as quickly if people had paid more attention to finding sustainable ways of doing things rather than cheaper ways- and screw the consequences in the future.

As a stand alone thing- I think we are impressive in many ways. Still- we're only impressive to us. Like you say- if we hadn't come about in the first place- there'd be nothing to 'miss' us. I think the planet would be far more balanced without us. I'm not convinced any other species has the mental capacity to say industrialize it's needs, invent plastic, try to harness nuclear power etc.

Still- there we go. It happened and our future generations are going to get stuck with the consequences. In many ways, I think the best thing any of us can do is to not reproduce. That said- I don't 'blame' people that do. It's just an overall belief type thing.

No. If that random asteroid hadn't by chance struck and wiped out most of the dinosaurs, it would probably still be a world dominated by dinosaurs. And maybe sophont crows or whatever would be asking "would it matter if crows never existed?"

That may be true, but it's also true that focusing too narrowly on that can downplay the human effects of our actions in disturbingly shortsighted ways.

The world wouldn't have 'noticed' at all. Which is why it's so confusing that people struggle with their death.

We think we're so damn special and important, but WHY do we think that? Why.

If we die tonight, are the city busses going to cease running? Will McDonald's not open tomorrow? Are any exams going to be canceled? Is the electric company going to stop sending out bills?

Noooo.

We are no more special than the other 7,999,999,999 people on this earth.

We don't have unique experiences or thoughts. I guarantee someone else has already experienced and pondered what you believe was reserved just for you.

I hate that people don't realize how lame and insignificant they are.

If they did, suicide wouldn't be this taboo thing. Get over your fucking selves: People die. New ones are born. The end.

there's no point to existing here anyway i mean everything you've ever wanted is off the table
we compete for leftover scraps and barely scrape by from paycheck to paycheck
society has us all enslaved to live out each others misery here (police, law, mentalwards, schools, jobs)
this place is just one vast shithole and hellhole where the vast majiorty live from paycheck too paycheck
while far to few live a life of luxury, just because we ae born doesn't mean someone or something is going to care for us
it's a uncaring unloving universe the nature of the universe is to be uncaring destructive and chaos,
of course it would be better if none of this ever existed at all

I don't take any of the enormity of chance in the universe as good or bad. It just is: you exist or not. Nothing really matters. People rule about the environment or destroying the earth but it doesn't matter. People are upset about someone choosing to take their own life but it doesn't matter. A terrorist does something horrible but it doesn't matter. It only matters because someone is thinking about it and concerned but no matter what that concern will be gone and forgotten. The monuments will tumble, people won't care. The greatest fears we have are becoming irrelevant. Except we are irrelevant. The mentors will still streak through the skies, the sun will still go through cycles and the universe will still expand. Your fleeting borrow of time no matter how important or angry or emotional you are will end and be completely forgotten. Not one single thing you have done will be catalogged in 10000000 years. It's been only 7000-10000 years since we decided to start writing things down so that I could post this. I am a blip who does not matter and in another 100 years the parts of life I happened to bump into won't even be a blip.

I have just decided to stop worrying and assume nothing matters without a smile or frown. Because it doesn't matter and it won't.

All life is completely unnecessary and only exists as an unfortunate consequence of evolution, it's undeniable that our existences are so insignificant, and of course it would be better if life never evolved at all. There is far too much meaningless suffering in this world, and at least for me only true relief can be found through permanent nonexistence as we won't have any awareness of anything. It's a curse to have the ability to exist in this world.
