But trying to get an answer tp the question of what was here before the big bang is just impossible at the moment.

You either have faith in an almighty santa claus like guy that suddenly wanted to play with dolls or try to understand one of the many theories surrounding the event that are being studied by the scientific community at the moment. I found the latter a lot more interesting and fun

But if you really MUST have an answer, it's 42.

My biggest pet peeve in my life are men trying to lighten up the mood when I am serious. I will be glad to not experience that ever again when I leave this fucking place.

And my biggest pet peeve in my life are people who compound their problems and try to make things too serious when they can't do anything about it. It rarely works out. Though I was serious about the "Serenity prayer" suggestion, but you rejected that, and insist on trying to know the unknowable. That's a recipe for insanity, there. But hey, then, by all means, make it worse for yourself, if that's what you really want. But ask yourself this: If someone gave you the ultimate answer here...would you accept it as the truth? Could you believe it? And do you think you will get an absolute answer by asking several different people with disparate world views, who can't even accept a common definition of reality? And if you get multiple answers here, who will you believe? When they start arguing over who's answer is correct, how will YOU know who to believe? What is the standard, the criteria, of proof?
