Why does using the search bar only bring up 3 pages max?

Often I'd like to continue further... And I KNOW there should be more pages. But it seems the search bar always only brings up 3 pages, max. Is there a reason for this? Can this be extended?

I have extended to 10 pages. It's quite taxing on the database to bring up lots of results at once but I'll see what I can do.
