I'm afraid a lot of times that people say nice things to me all the time, but that I just am not really listening because of my depression and apathy.

Once I was calling the suicide hotline and I was talking about how I feel like mentioning suicidal thoughts to my friends would overburden them, but then realized that they ultimately value me more being alive so I should just go ahead and do it. And the volunteer said to me, "Absolutely they value you. Don't think you aren't valuable because you are: you're literally priceless." And it just caught me off-guard that a stranger would say something like that to me. I'll probably remember that as long as I live and I just think to myself sometimes why am I not letting other people know this too?

my friend and i were on her bedroom floor, stoned as fuck. she held my head up to look into her eyes and was playing with my hair, and tucking it behind my ears and whatnot. she smiled and kept telling me how beautiful she thought i was, and how much she adored me. there was a couple other people in the room, and this guy reached down to also play with my hair. my friend knew how i was iffy about people touching me, especially if i didnt know them well, so she swatted him away and told him off. then she just sorta went back to playing with my hair and smiling at me.

This girl I was friends with in graduate school said some things about me I'll never forget. On my 29th birthday, she gave me a card and in it she had written some rather touching thoughts about me, in addition to wishing me a happy birthday. Can't remember the exact wording, but something about me being a strong, sensitive person and that I had been through total and complete hell but inspire others. I don't know how she picked up on the "been through hell" part considering I never opened up to her about my past, but her people reading skills really struck me. She probably picked up on a hidden kind of sadness in me. I'm sure she is doing quite well for herself now although we haven't spoken for years.

Some weeks ago, my mum was in a clear state of mind, almost like before (she's severe sick now). And she said to me; I'm sorry I never really saw who you are, Sus. I tried to fit you in with all "normal" things, sports and education. I was wrong, I should let you flourish on your own terms. I'm so sorry I failed you.

I held my tears and thanked her. I cry inside when I think abouth these words. Of course I wish she'd told me when I was young, but parents are not perfect. No one is. There are so many words not being said. So much love in people, but we forget to share it.

I have a short memory, can't think of kindness... But today, even though I fully revealed the total shit I am, someone here accepted my affection. He didn't demand me to be positive, didn't say my pain is all in my head... He shared with me. I felt love and he gently welcomed it instead to crush it into oblivion. I was near a human & didn't regret it. So glad I felt it after so many years. I hope I won't suffocate him with codependency. I look forward to seeing him again. Even though I gave up all my joys to surrender to doom... He almost makes me want to live... Almost gives me hope... almost is the max I can do so he's amazing

I was being harassed mercilessly at work for a facial deformity. One day a regular customer came to the counter with as much softness in her voice as possible and told her daughter to hand the "beautiful" cashier the items to buy. It was such a touching moment of humanity. I don't remember the insults and scoffs and rudeness because I black it out, but I remember that moment vividly.

Aww, you didn't felt pain because of your face... But because the true ugly was in people's hearts. I'm glad that the mother was kind.
