I think it's just hard to be human. The human condition is to struggle for happiness or well-being in circumstances that make these things difficult to impossible. And people everywhere face the same practical and existential struggles, no matter where we come from.

I think the incredible thing is that so few people kill themselves.
The freedom to do well, or badly, is what makes this world heavenly. How would we feel rewarded for something if it was expected of us? There are more and more things that mess up our reward routines and systems. Bad food and technology are part of this.

I don't like the freedom to do badly, myself. The reality of insecurity is part of the terror of being alive. I would be much happier if everything was guaranteed to go well, and did - in health, finances, everything. I don't want to decline, or live in fear of decline.
