never any of these but will add to my list :)
Those are all some of my favorites. Psycho Pass and GITS fall into "Military, Sci-Fi, Psychological Thriller, Mystery, Law Enforcement". Cowboy Bebop is regarded as a classic by many, praised for it's soundtracks and story. It follows Spike Spiegel and his crew, in an age where mankind has taken to the stars, he's a bounty hunter.
@lifesucksxoxo That's fair, I guess it depends on who you ask. Some people it can be life changing. Others will decide that learning the language is not for them, or perhaps they don't have the time, or any other reason.

I dream and pray that I'll get cancer.

Everything else is just a distraction, a procrastination.

I want it to be true so badly. I want it to come to pass.

I daydream of getting hit by a car too. Anything to shorten my lifespan.

So I daydream about death. That it may come for me at any time. And for a time that calms me down and brings me some measure of comfort.

"There will always be a view that sees people as "outsiders" or "foreigners" that aren't wanted." is exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not talking shit about the language. Yes, learning a new language can open business opportunities but is it really worth the pain of all that dedication, practicing hours and hours a day?

Yeah, I have no critical thinking skills lol keep coping
Is it really too hard for you to comprehend that some people like learning new things? That it might bring them joy or seem worth it to them? Also, if I am remembering correctly I think wornoutlife has mentioned teaching english before - So it makes even more sense that they would be spending their free time learning. Just because you can't do it or are not interested does not mean it's the same for other people.

And the fact that you say it's a waste of focus and critical thinking but casual things like watching anime or playing games is somehow not a waste of time to you at all is hilarious, Learning a skill is much more productive than any of the other things listed. And learning a language is not just to get accepted by the native speaking community I don't know why you would think that. If people didn't learn other languages how would the everyone in the world interact with each other?

Sleeping, reading books, and playing video games. My hobbies don't disappoint me, unlike people. I especially love the dreams I get where it's some random fantasy story. Sometimes I get a continuation of my dream the next day which is cool.

@abruptum yo name a genre, I have tons of recommendations.
@WornOutLife Japanese is great, although the fact that is has 3 systems instead of 1 like English was hard to get past. How far are you in studies?
@lifesucksxoxo I've been learning for 2y now and I hear what your opinion is, but Japanese can be useful in business degrees or anything that requires translation. They've always looking for English teachers as well and have dedicated programs for it to get it. Some people see Japan as a way to escape from the West anyways, where they feel they're creative lifestyles are limited. I've known several people that have moved and it has had a positive impact + their knowledge of Japanese has helped ofc. Most Japanese people appreciate when people at least try to learn the language or at least enough to get by. Also that kind of thinking exists in every country in some form or another. There will always be a view that sees people as "outsiders" or "foreigners" that aren't wanted. Also while it's true that some Japanese people might not want foreigners in their country, like I said every country has that crowd, Japanese *need* foreigners to fill the job loss that they are experiencing due to their workforce being of an older generation. Among other problems. Learning Japanese can open many opportunities in life, especially if one were to move to the country itself. Learning a language also requires tons of dedication, practicing each day for multiple hours to become fluent. So I'd say that even if nothing comes of it, that person's determination to the learning process is a good thing for their character, or if they just need something to distract them.
I'm grinding kanji. Lots of them! This language has certainly started to scare me but I love it. I'm almost at an intermediate level. Hope to learn more before I ctb.

That's awesome, hiragana and katakana were hard for me at first because it was pretty much learning the baseline of the language. Also learning that "one" "one item" and "one o clock" their number system in general. All had different ways of saying it was like "god damnit". lmao.

Hell yeah it's worth. I'm not interested in getting a full-time japanese job. I'm already an English teacher.
You probably don't like languages so it's kinda hard explain but understanding symbols/words you could have never imagined you would understand it's amazing. Also, you learn lots of things about the traditions and culture from that country.
Just like some people love being fitness, even though they will get grey and old and die, I love languages, especially japanese. Who cares if I'm gonna forget everything about it once I ctb? I prefer to spend my hours doing something productive rather than looking at the floor and thinking about death. (I still do it, unfortunately.)

It's pointless. Japanese people don't want you anyways. Waste of critical thinking and focus.

gooming? Like eating?

If so, then yes thats a really good cope. I like eating fastfood a lot cause it taste really fucking good and it makes the pain go all away

Music, Food, Video-Games, Porn/Anime Porn, TV/Netflix are the top copes.
I disagree. I've made lots of japanese friends by browsing japanese forums and using apps such as Italki.
They're also interested in the languagues I know (english, portuguese, and spanish)
Damn, they even want me to go to Japan but I can't afford it. It would be awesome to be there before ctb.

Anyway, I respect your point of view but as some people have pointed out, apart from me, you're really wrong about the experiences of learning a language. (And about foreign people too. There are good and bad people all over the world)

How is learning a new language not a good thing to do as a distraction??? lmaoo.
Personally it would be difficult for me to focus on such a thing, because it would end up being pointless when death is near. It is also less of an escape and requires quite a bit of motivation and energy that I just don't have. So that's one possible reason I could think of as to why someone would see that as a poor distraction, etc.

It may not be a good thing for you and it certainly isn't something I spend my time on but it makes no sense to tell someone that something they do in their time is a waste or pointless - even more so when it actually is something productive and could be used in daily life or help with job opportunities. Besides this was about what we do to distract ourselves I see no reason to criticize someone else over what they like to do. That guy was just projecting.

I couldn't agree more!
People have different hobbies! I have a friend who also wants to ctb but loves painting! He paints all day! That's not even his job! He just loves it and it helps him to spend his days not so depressed!
I'm glad you think like this even though you're not interested in this topic so much.

Honestly I'm a bit jealous lmao - I don't have a very good attention span or memory so I couldn't learn a language without a teacher and a lot of effort so I'm very impressed by anyone who decide to take on learning a language. Good for you honestly!

I wish I had the mental energy right now to continue learning another language. Kudos to you! I was learning German and Italian at one point, but gave up on both.

Sleep and meds are my only escape.

Model kits and miniatures.
It's quite the meditation.
Currently a submarine and a galleon on the bench

This is my escape also! I've got a bunch of minis spread around (Aliens currently for the game) along with 4 tanks and I'm building 4 Ju-52s for a friend. Headphones on and tunes cranked up or ghost story podcasts.

I wish one day we could have really good and realistic Virtual Reality Worlds, Where we can escape to and explore and feel real sensations. Id just live on there most of mylife and only put it off to go to bed.

it will be a good distraction and save me from pain and life.

Sleep. I have to deal with things the moment I wake up. I don't even enjoy games or shows at this point. I just like to sleep. Also I like to see nature but the momment I see someone my brain says "iuug" and I come back to sleep.

I wish I had money to go to a desert. I want to feel the sand on my feet and throw myself through the dunes. Also the views are amazing.

Seeing things that way then, everything you do is pointless.

Also, some people (like me) plan on living some more years. Why not living them to the fullest instead of lying on a bed, crying until my ctb date comes?

Sorry but I totally disagree with u!

Some of us are so depressed and in so much mental pain and anxiety we cant enjoy anything so sleep is our only reprieve.

Sometimes I'm so depressed and anxious that I can't even sleep. It's horrible!

I'm glad you can sleep at least!
