• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I understand for new people the phrase is confusing, so I've simply stopped using it. I don't say ctb anymore, except when I'm outside of this forum and don't want to get anyone in trouble. I just call it suicide because that is literally what it is.

I assumed it meant cross the bridge, from life to death

Interesting how people find other relevant phrases for the acronym.

I initially thought it meant "cease to be/breathe".

Catch the Bus comes from a famous suicide place in England, Beachy Head in Eastbourne, the highest chalk cliffs here, where people would arrive in the town centre and "catch the bus" to the cliffs to jump.

So you have encounter the most frustrating things about this website the gatekeeping, self censorship and euphemistic nonsense. It really sucks that its ingrained in the culture here and there isn't anything we can do about it. People here will try to make excuses for it like keeping this site out of search results or protecting users from law enforcement but these are obviously not true. I found this site via search engine results despite all the N SN CTB WPD et al. This site is on the surface web and anybody can become a member so law enforcement has been here probably since day one. Besides in the United States suicide is perfectly legal and it's not the cops job to protect us from ourselves. That being said cops still pose a threat to this site mostly because its full of minors not from people using clear and serious language for the most serious of topics suicide.

Now you can't go and just say whatever you want on here there are rules and they have very valid reasons but there isn't any rule requiring you to use CTB and I humbly request that you refrain. It's just not right to make light of such an important topic on a forum full of vulnerable people seeking real information on the most serious literally life and death topic.
