For me, in the order of descending importance:

(1) Certainty;
(2) peacefulness;
(3) time;
(4) availability; and
(5) how the body looks.

How about you guys?

ED: my method is pentobarb, what about you guys?

1. The mess I leave for the people who have to deal with my dead body. Your family will likely have to identify your body so you can't really hide how you end up unless you are never found.

2. Effectiveness. I'm not willing to play a game of chances, I only wish to entertain methods that can only fail by user error

3. Availability. I'm on a time limit, if I fail my next attempt, I become extremely limited with increased difficulty of being able to KTB

4. Time of death. My preferred method will have a low chance of being able to be rescued. Isolation may not be available to me, so I need death to occur relatively quick.

5. Pain. Pain in my least concern. While of course I don't wish to experience any, I'm willing to go through it.

That's really well thought out. It says a lot about you as a person that you put the feelings of your loved ones as the most important criteria.

1. Time number one as such terror of death I can't have much time to think about it.
2. Reliability. Terrified I will end up still alive in worse condition.
3. Easy to do/understand..can't think properly cognitive problems

I'm just making a general observation. Most people here seem to put the feelings of their loved ones above their own. I say that based on the frequency of the following;

"..don't want to be a burden"

"..they'll be better off"

The thread about who you want to hurt when you catch the bus. Inflicting pain on others seems to be a non factor for most.

Certainty and rage.

I've been beyond pissed my whole life for being born and for keeping on being duped into living. I used to dream of blowing my brains out in front of the family at Christmas, but we went and made damn peace with each other. I don't even really hate anybody anymore like I used to, except maybe myself.

Still, I want to go out with a bang really. I'm mad as hell at pretty much everything.

1. Peacefulness, especially with regard to pain: it must approach zero.
2. Certainty. This includes a "graceful failure": I don't want a method where failure has a nontrivial chance of leaving me severely impaired.
3. Availability. My method of choice would be cyanide. It's nearly impossible to find, though.

Other considerations are peripheral at best, and don't really factor into my analysis.

My most important factors are certainty (the more likely the method will succeed, the better), peacefulness (in terms of how painful it will be -- the less pain, the better), and finally availability. I don't like going through much difficulty in order to acquire my means to an exit if there are easier ways to do so. Time isn't as important as certainty and peacefulness though, but anything that is quick is preferred over something long and drawn out.
