WARNING for UK SN users

Ordered SN months ago, it arrived in January. I had been waiting to use it. The police just came to my house, saying border force had intercepted the parcel (despite it arriving months ago) and interrogating me. I lied but they searched the house and seized it. Unfortunately now the people I live with know. PLEASE be careful if you are in the UK and want to stay discreet

I don't know how things work in the UK, but don't cops need a warrant if they want to enter your house? Also, SN is legal, they shouldn't be able to seize it. Are the authorities really getting that desperate in their mission to make us suffer?

Yes, they don't have any powers to search etc without a warrant. There's no reason for them to suspect immediate danger given time of order.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. But I guess the police have been known to go beyond their power when they think they can get away with it.

Everyone should learn their rights for these things.

I didn't know about the warrant but I was in such shock over it - I lied initially but they were very forceful and said they knew it was there so they had to search, and I feared what would happen if I said no, as they had an ambulance team with them and I was worried they would take me away. I'm honestly in shock and dissociated and can't stop shaking. It was a terrifying experience. I also don't know what I'll do now without it.

I was not in the emotional state to process asking for one because I woke up to find the people I live with suddenly know & I was being effectively interrogated. I just didn't expect it and I'm still in shock like my body cannot calm down

Yeah, that would be weird - they'd expect a missing person report if that was the case.

Unfrotsltey you were not to know. However for others in UK, the police only have the power to take you to a safe space when you are in public - not at home. Your home is also considered a safe space.

They need a special warrant to remove someone from their home for MH reasons. Which I very much doubt they will try do.

Really sorry that happened to you. It's been a year since I brought mine and I got DMC to scrub me from his system so fingers crossed I'll be fine.

I really wonder about the legal side of this. If they think you're in imminent danger do they need a warrant still? What would the courts say? Sometimes the law can be tricky and I really don't know enough about it.

police may not need a warrant to enter and search your house if they believe there's an immediate risk to your life or safety, including if you're at risk of harming yourself.

I may be extremely sceptical but what is to stop a lot of people who are anti this group joining and making such allegations? Two of these allegations are extremely similar with the same kind of profile names.

This one says the border force intercepted the parcel months ago, at which point they would have confiscated it immediately, if they knew what it was. But the police turn up three months afterwards to search a property without a search warrant. Also, having experience with mental health teams/crises teams, I doubt an ambulance team would have accompanied the police, on the off chance they were needed, when there was no evidence there was any emergency at that moment. Ambulance crews are stretched to breaking point here. If this was genuine, they would have advised the police to call them if they thought there was a need too, not waste taking a crew, three months after the SN was delivered, just in case!

This all sounds like scare mongering to me. One or two of these claims may be genuine but anyone can be on the internet and say or do anything for whatever motive. This does not sound genuine at all but it will scare people a lot, especially young people with not much experience of life/ or experience of how weird some on the internet can be.

Is that applicable here tho. I don't think they have evidence to justify that. They brought the SN months ago. By immediate I think it means they have reason to suspect they actually in the middle of taking their life.

I just messaged him via WhatsApp, and he was happy to do. My account/order was no longer visible afterwards.

If I recall correctly it was late end of last year.

Yeah I am skeptical as well. Very well could just be people preying on an already vulnerable group on the edge.

The part about an ambulance being dispatched is the biggest thing as you mentioned they are already stretched thin. Unless there was an immediate emergency I dont see why that would be the case.

Apologies to OP if they indeed did experience this but theres no way to verify any of these stories. One could easily come on here and make up a wellness check story and panic ensues.

the bright side is that people are becoming more aware of how to deal with police in the off chance they are visited. It is good to have a safety plan in case things go wrong.

Yeah if the stories are even legit it would be smart to have a decoy. Police arent smart enough to know and they certainly wouldnt care enough to test it on the spot.

Having to make new plans and also feeling like I am 'under surveillance' from those who I live with is making everything 10x worse than it was.

I promise I am not scaremongering, I promise this really happened, it was very scary. I am NOT anti this group, I am devastated I lost what I saw as my only way out. I am just letting people know so they can be cautious and won't be so stupid like I was to let them search. I was just in shock.

Sorry, I'm not buying any of it until I see corroboration. I've been here long enough to know how the prolifers, or anti-choicers, work. They concoct bogus stories about all types of methods with the intent to discourage and dissuade others from trying a given method. I've seen it first hand. In essence, they use scare tactics to try and promote their own anti-choice agenda. And these anti-choicers permeate this forum. They're everywhere here and it's about impossible to know who they are until they reveal themselves. Words in a posting are just not enough to verify the veracity of a claim no matter how many users post about it. It's just the nature of the politics that goes on here. It will take something more than just postings for me to buy into any of it.

Also - what they told me (who knows if it is true); "the border force don't have powers to seize these parcels". I was confused and lied to them about having it. After a long while with them in the other room and another one making me speak to MHAS on the phone, they came back in, I thought I was free to go since MHAS did not force me to attend the hospital. Then the ambulance arrives and the officer next to me apologises because 'he cancelled it but they came anyway'. The ambulance guys stayed around though so I didn't feel I could trust what they were saying. They were phoning people in the other room and one of them came back in and showed me photo evidence of the delivery which they must have got from the courier. I folded under my lie then and wish I had not. I should have kept it outside of the house or something.

Please let me know what specifically I can provide, if anything. I am very very much pro choice in this matter and I am sorry I am coming off this way. But this experience was scary and traumatic and I need to share, both to warn others but also because I feel like the world is collapsing now I don't have my 'out'.
