Is there a good/bad way to be positioned for this? I wanted to lay down, but I think I might've heard some people saying you have to tie yourself to a chair upright. Have you heard that?

I have heard that. At the very least, prop yourself up with pillows so that you don't fall over sideways and dislodge the bag. Likewise, I have heard...

I think I read in the PP handbook that you are supposed to breathe out a few times before you bring the pre-filled bag down over your head, that way your first breath is the pure argon/nitrogen and you should pass out a lot more quickly.

Definitely do that, to get rid of as much O2 and CO2 as possible. EXhale as deeply as possible before that first intake of N2.

I'm spending this evening just putting the bag over my head every now and then, to get acclimated to its presence, and how it fogs up. Completely different than using N2, I know, with just CO2 filling the bag --kinda wild, with CO2, the way my body goes all tense and my breathing speeds up-- but seeing how long it takes before that hypercapnic alarm kicks in is very educational. I can sit here in my chair for several minutes before my body realizes there's something wrong. The first time, after sitting here for a couple minutes, I even got up and went to the bathroom, peed, and returned to my chair before I needed to pull the bag off. It really reinforces the emphatic direction to get rid of as much breathable atmosphere (O2, CO2) as possible before pulling the bag full of N2 down into place.

Oh, and if anyone has long hair, like I do, make sure to wad it up inside the bag, so that the bag seals well against the back of your neck. (And the hair elastic at my nape seems a good way to keep the N2 tube in place, too.)

A guy came to my door with it, it was in a box, I think I had to sign for it.
Hmmm...good to know, thank you. I think maybe I had heard that it comes it a box, so I'm glad that you confirmed that. A delivery guy requiring signing could be good or bad for me—I live on the 4th floor of an apt...I wonder what happens with deliveries like that & UPS FedEx type situations...do they ever come up? Do they make management sign downstairs? Fuck.

Can you get it without prescription?
In my case some gin or whiskey will do the job [or won't]
I don't know about your country but i think you can get it if you want to.
I suppose that's everywhere as long as you know the right people.

They will probably tell management to contact you, or management will allow the delivery guy up to your door. That's my guess.

Thank you for the resource! My phone is having a little with the file blah blah, but I was able to see the first 100 pgs (I was right in the heart of the section we need—starting at pg. 85! boo!). I'm going to attempt again later with that!
Thanks for the book it was really informative...

Oooh, I hope so. Was "Cyberweld" excessively visible on the box?
No it was just a brown box and you wouldn't know what's in it. It's good that it's not obvious what it is. I accidentally ordered a bigger size than I needed, the 40 cubic foot one. I suppose I have more gas so not a problem but the 20 cubic foot size is sufficient. There will be a option that asks u what gas u want it filled with and that adds a bit to the cost but not that much.

I needed to see what it was like, up until now I wasnt ready to try it yet. I can say the panic set in and I was quickly feeling dizzy. If I could just hold out past the panic this should work. Wen I took bag off it took a bit to feel normal again. I didn't tape the tube to inside of bag because I was just testing this time. Yea I think this is not a real painful way to go but u really gotta be ready just like any method. It might help to be really relaxed b4 hand.

I tried Tuesday, in the wee hours.

A few breaths after I pulled the bag down over my face, my hands started to tingle. A couple more breaths and I got lightheaded. No pain or sense of suffocation; very gentle.

Unfortunately, my gorram survival instinct kicked in and I backed out. (FUCK!)

But if I can keep my calm, it'll be a good way to go.

It's astonishing how long that last moment can stretch, though. I may need to purchase N, so that I can't flinch away once I've dosed.

Oooh, good. Omg, securing this part makes me sooooo nervous. If I can pull off getting it delivered/into my apt, I've decided I'll do it that day. I don't want to risk someone coming back to ask me about it or trying to hide it. How long after you ordered it did it take to arrive?

Can I ask you a question please? Did follow the instruction from PPH; did you fill the bag with nitrogen first?

How much time - effectively - did you have before you losing conscious?

Yes, I followed the PPH protocol: I put the bag over my head, with the elastic below my ears, like a shower cap, and scrunched all the air out of it. I then allowed the bag to inflate with a flow rate of 15Lpm. Once it was full, I exhaled fully (perhaps not as fully as I should have; it was strangely difficult to remain calm) and then pulled the bag down over my face. It should have worked perfectly, but... Operator error. I flinched.

It's hard to say how long it would have taken to become unconscious. Time was acting very oddly, in the stress of the moment, and I wasn't watching a clock. A minute? Not very long. It would have been a lot less had I been breathing as deeply as is recommended, but I wasn't doing well on that front.

I bought one from Harbor Freight Tools. It's cheap (cheaper than the professional models at AirGas), and the gauges are marked specifically for N2. I don't know how durable it is, or how precisely accurate, but it attaches to the cylinder just fine, it lets gas through, and... it only needs to function once.

I tried nitrogen a few weeks ago with a non rebreather mask. I had a couple shots, hooked it up and went to sleep. Woke up 30 minutes later feeling woozy and with a bad headache.

Learnt later that a non rebreather lets in outside air so I was still getting enough oxygen. And that the right way is with an exit bag.

I didn't feel any panic though. I dunno if the wooziness was from nitrogen or the alcohol.

PS I have gotten a couple bottles of N, so I won't be following up on the nitrogen approach.
How 'easy' is it to get all the required equipment for this?
In the US - it is pretty easy. You can get a cylinder of nitrogen for 200$. Valve and regulator on Amazon for 50$. The tricky part is hooking it up to an exit bag.

I effed up and tried to use a nonrebreather mask. Did not work. After researching this site and others - realized why it did not work and what I needed was an exit bag.

But based on my reading - the exit bag can be doable on 10 to 20$.
