Didn't realize the effects of sodium nitrate were as strong as they were. I dissolved 2 table spoons of SN into 1.5 cups of water (roughly a large glass) Had only 2 sips before pouring the rest out. I felt fine but every time I burped, it burned my nostrils. Next thing I know I'm in the ER with a breathing and feeding tube. Apparently my roommate wanted to ask me something and he found me passed out with a blue/gray face on the couch in my room. The doctors claimed that if I wasn't found, I probably would have died. Oxygen level was at 83% when the EMT did a reading.

I wasn't trying to kill myself although I didn't really care if I did. I thought that I might become drowsy or pass out for a little while since i was experimenting with only 2 tablespoons.

Just a warning I guess that you should probably make sure you want to kill yourself before experimenting with SN.
Feel free to ask any questions, although I'm not on here much, so it might be a little while.

2 sips of a very diluted solution, and you passed out?! The amount of water should be only 50ml.
Also if you don't want to kill yourself and just want to be drowsy or pass out for a while, SN is a bad idea. Try alcohol or sleeping pills instead (not at the same time)

They don't want to just go to sleep. They were testing the solution out. They just thought that's all that would happen given the low amount ingested.

It doesn't take much of the stuff to kill you, people have died with relatively small doses. 2 tablespoons is roughly the amount for the protocol as well. The effects can be fast acting as you've seen for yourself.

Some members have been curious enough to taste the stuff and I strongly recommend against it. The last bit you wrote is some solid advice.

Did you experience pain like the other post about surviving SN described?

You said I interpreted OP wrong. I quoted OP to show that I didn't. It seems that you're just joking around so I'll leave this discussion here as I already said what I had to say

Dang it's that easy depending on the person? That almost makes me want to jump the gun and skip out on waiting to get some meto. But that's a bad idea so I won't. That's crazy though if you really only took 2 sips and nearly died anyway.

You do realise all I did is paraphrase the OP? Both what I said and OP said are the same thing. He didn't want to just go to sleep. He just wanted to test out the solution and see what happens. No permanent effects. Not for a final solution. Just testing out. I don't know what's hard to comprehend, but it seems like you're the one playing around here

you said it was nitrate . is that a typo ? if not then that's not what SN refers to

Thanks for sharing. I have also been thinking about experimenting with SN, but I know it's kind of risky so I won't. I just got so excited when I received my bottles. However, it's good to know how effective SN is, even though I'm glad that your roommate found you since you weren't actually trying to kill yourself.

We are talking about Nitrate or Nitrite? Do you remember how long it took before you lost consciousness? Anything else you'd like to add?

Latest pph says 50ml to 100ml water is good for SN. So shooting for 75 ml water would allow for human error imo.

25 grams of SN dissolved in 75 ml of water is what I would do. Of course take 30 mg metoclopramide and tagamet 45 minutes to 1 hour before sn. And fast 8 hours before sn .

There I condensed the SN megathread of a thousand pages into 3 sentences.

Looking at the first sentences in the OP . . . . . .

Didn't realize the effects of sodium nitrate were as strong as they were. I dissolved 2 table spoons of SN into 1.5 cups of water (roughly a large glass) Had only 2 sips before pouring the rest out.

. . . . . my questions have to be,

1. Nitrate or nitrite?
2. How much is a tablespoon ?
3. How much is a "cup" ?
4. What capacity is a "large glass" ?
5. How approximate is "roughly" ?
6. How much is a "sip" ?

1. Sodium Nitrate
2. Conventional spoon used to eat food with
3 & 4. I poured an entire glass of water (same amount used originally into a measuring cup) and it was 1.5 cups (US system here)
5. Exactly 1.5 cups of water to 2 -2.5 tablespoons of sodium nitrate. I didn't level each spoonful out so it wasn't super exact.

It took probably 20 minutes to lose consciousness. EMT said I was sweaty and blue. Happened on a Monday afternoon, and I didn't wake regain consciousness until Wednesday morning. No pain or discomfort except being intubated. Body weight is 145lbs. I guess I didn't read the SN mega thread correctly. I could have sworn it was sodium nitrate, NOT nitrite, but after rereading the thread, it is intact NITRITE that I should have bought. Regardless, I used sodium nitrate
I
definitely would not "experiment" with this stuff unless you are ready ctb. Had I not been found, I'd probably be dead which would have been okay with me since it ws just like going to sleep, but I still wanted to live for tomorrow and still do as of now.

I'm sorry it's not. I would upload some medical records but I really don't feel comfortable uploading that here. I'm too paranoid about who else could be reading.

Weirdest experiment .
  • We talk Nitrite, you use Nitrate
  • Oxygen level 83% non fatal - does not even cause loss of consciousness
  • experimenting with SN - well that's not SN
  • Just wanted to pass out, by substance not discussed here, and perhaps die ?
Am I getting something wrong ? ... Can't compare nitrate to nitrite .. This is like random poison checking :)
make sure you want to kill yourself before experimenting with SN.
We know not to "experiment" with SN or even "taste" it , fatal even in small amounts...This has been repeated here many times.. But then again this was not SN ... *confused*

Monday afternoon, and I didn't wake regain consciousness until Wednesday morning.
With SN, methylene blue given , and oxygen level rise to 90% within 1h and patient regains consciousness . Again, strange.

OP repeatedly say nitrate . This not our SN . Title misleading :)

I don't understand how you didn't die. There's no antidote to sodium nitrate? Is it just because your solution was so diluted? What did the hospital do for you?

Apologies for that. Not sure if I can edit the thread title. If a mod would like to do so, please fix it. I was given methylene blue since they diagnosed me with methemoglobinemia.

Are you sure it was Sodium nitrate? In an earlier post you stated it was sodium nitrite and you were very specific on what you bought.

I looked up that product and it is sodium nitrite.

I thought methylene blue did not work on nitrate. Nothing does. Are you sure that's what you ingested?
